Did it up to the pass in the nineties. We started on a clear day, but at noon snowy weather started and when we approached the pass it was covered with dense fog and visibility was down to three meters. I was with a guide and he wanted to go from the pass into the fog. I knew that this sort of knifey pass is dangerous and refused. We went down a little to the cliffs with the chains as seen in the video. But back than no chains were there and the steps were covered with very thick snow. He started to climb the snowy step and I refused again yelling at him to come down. He told me to follow him and all will be good but I didn't trust him. Those cliffs with snow are dangerous. I started scrambling back down the pass to go back to langtang valley. All in all I was in Nepal for three months and have great memories from there.
OMG.. that was a good decision to climb down.. were u planning to go just to the pass or trek down to the other side...btw it is one of our best treks .. we made decision to cross the pass then and there when we met pasang(guide) at Langtang view guest house.
Hi @Nepguy! FANTASTIC video, thank you for sharing! Quick question regarding the scree section on the descent from Ganja La towards Helambu (at 2:44) - how steep, slippery, and exposed is this? Is it good to use a rope there (i see you guys didnt)?
Happy u liked the video Weber. It wasnt too scary.. not too steep or very slippery or too dangerous.. its is doable unless one is too unlucky to get hit by some rock fallen from above (don't want to scare you though)
Hi @@NEPGUY thanks so much for sharing that info, super helpful!! That gives me more confidence to give Ganja La a try (: Could you possibly share advice on one more question? I see in the video that you guys opted out of using the aluminum ladder that is fixed on the northern side of the pass - is that the easier option/ is the ladder shady?
@@KiliChai haha .. at First when i first looked it from a little far and our guide also went through it, i thought i could do it.. but when i got closer and looked above, it was a little inclined outside and little shaky as well.. so i couldn't dare it.. but our guide did .. so the option was easy for me and my friend

Hi Nepguy, impressing trip and very nice video - thanks for sharing! I am going to Kyanjin Gompa with my little son (6 years) in April. Do you think we can go up in the direction of Kanja La until 4800m to see Shisha Pangma and then go back? Is the way up to 4800m very difficult? Thanks, Michael
Hi mika.. firstly wow its amazing that u are taking ur 6 yrs old son with u 70% Way up is fairly easy..though steep uphill in many places...but some places are difficult if u want to reach up to 4300m..so I recommend u take a guide at least and go up to where u feel comfortable
