The better word that is used instead of “flamboyant” is “flashy,” depending on where you’re watching demon slayer from.
21:51 those are some solid questions.
1) A Tsuguko is a special demon slayer chosen by A Hashira to be trained by them, so that they can succeed the position. This wouldn’t count on the case of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, or even Giyuu, who were trained by Former Hashiras.
2) When a Hashira retires, they loose their status, but is like been in “reserves” like in the army. If a Hashira retires this would be for different reasons, they either age out or are injured heavily. A good example is Zenitsu Grandpa, he was the thunder Hashira, but he lost a leg in a battle what forced him to retire. Urokodaki was way to old, so he retired as well. Or simply, their Tsuguko take over, which is their purpose.
Correction: 1) They don't succeed the Hashira position, they only inherit the breathing style or are trained to become Hashira. They will have to prove their skill to become Hashira. It's a fast-track to become Hashira but not a guarantee.

To use Total Concentration Breathing, they need lung capacity to take in a lot of air, and need muscle mass to withstand the power boost that comes with breathing. Men tend to have larger lung capacity than women and tend to build muscle more easily. Therefore, if men and women train in breathing to the same extent, men have an advantage. The Demon Slayers are overwhelmingly male. Kanao is a girl ,and compared to men, she doesn't have a particularly robust build. But she was chosen as Tsuguko. That's why he said, "She's a girl,but she's awesome." please remember that Shinobu, who is small, has weak strength and cannot cut off a demon's head. And the Love Hashira is quite large for a Japanese woman of Taisho era.
yeah, Even if you fail to understand all the science behind it, you should understand what period is this based on, during that time women were generally considered inferior, I am not saying that was correct but it was common, demon slayer corps are great at maintaining gender equality coz even after all the influence from the society's usual culture they have women as hashira and other rankings slayers too, it's just that their thinking from the culture they grew up in that they know a women making up to the top rankings is rare to see in that time

9:46 yes, the 12 kizuki do get replaced when they die. And as Adam said, they do get replaced, and ranked do to the blood the receive from Muzan, this applies more to the Lower moons (you will receive the proper explanation in coming episodes).
And to add a bit more of lore knowledge, as Master Kagaya mentioned, to become a Hashira you need to kill a Kizuki, (or kill at least 50 demons). That’s how you start ranking higher, and become a Hashira.
15:58 the part "She's a girl but of incredible talent": they sey: "Onna no ko", with "ko" being "child". I think it is not meant as diminutive because of the gender, but as a: "even if she's just a child, she has amazing talent as a warrior", or something like this

That I don't necessarily agree with. I feel like if that's the case, it would carry the same meaning if you replace "girl" with "boy" (otokonoko), but it feels kinds of off that way. If they meant age I think they would just say child (kodomo). There could be a translation error with なんで(nande). I don't think it should be translated as "but." But I'm not 100% sure.
I think the reason some Hashira were laughing is because Tanjiro immediately went red in the face. It wasn't mocking Tanjiro but because his red-faced reaction was too funny.
About Nezuko, I think what Urokodaki did was help her hold on to the memories of her human self (as we see most demons forget their human lives when they get stronger), and he can only show her the path, her role is to walk that path and never forget.
The Kakushi guy saying that about Kanao is more of praise, (very minor spoiler details about how the corps works) because the people who cannot become swordsmen/women but still want to be of use in the corps in some way become the Kakushi. So coming from him, a person who could not do what Kanao can it is praise and admiration. "Even though she is a girl she is more skilled than a lot of us." Besides becoming a Tsuguko is not an easy feat, which you will figure out as the series progresses.
All very valid questions about Tamayo and the Tsuguko Kanao, and about being related to Muzan etc. You'll have to wait and see about these questions.
A good thing to remember Tanjiro and Zenitsu are outliers having been trained by former Hashira most of the members just learn basic swordsmanship and don’t take on demons at the pace they have

If Kibutsuji Muzan were to be Ubuyashiki's brother, that would basically mean that the relation between Tanjiro and Nezuko is the oposite to Muzan and Masters. In the sense that they are both siblings one of which was/became a demon, and the fact that Ubuyashiki allows Nezuko to stay alive would then have a much deeper meaning, as in Ubuyashiki has fate that Tanjiro can achieve what he never could, or he allowed her to live although knowing what Muzan has become now.

just a correction, Rui was the weakest of the 12, he was number 12, 1 is the strongest. Lower 6 (6-12) are the weakest of the 12, upper moons (1-6) are the strongest

I definitely want to second (third?) the recommendation to watch the first episode of Season 2 (Mugen Train Arc) and then go straight to the movie. The other 6 episodes of the season ARE the movie. But it hits much, much harder with the steady flow, rather than the episodic breaks. I'm so stoked with how close you guys are to Mugen Train! ❤

After this season there's the Mugen Train Movie, but they also divided the movie into episodes, so you better watch the episodes than the movie, because the episodes have extra content.

To help you guys out a little, the crows literally report EVERYTHING back to the master. The master is the one who oversees all of the Demon Slayers and sends them off into missions. How else would he have known that Tanjiro has met Muzan and knows Lady Tamayo.
Yeah and when they reported about Mt Natagumo, the master quickly realised there was one of the 12 there and sent the Hashira. So Adam was right that the crows don't have all the info beforehand they get info in real time.
Every week, we get closer and closer to the Mugen Train movie and I'm here hoping Sarah and Adam react to the full movie not the seasonal episodes.

Tsuguko is the apprentice of one of the current Hashira.
I guess you can retire whenever you want to? as long as the Master agrees to your retirement. Zenitsu's grandpa (teacher) was a Hashira too (mentioned by the boy who threw a peach at Zenitsu), he retired because he lost his right leg, and Urokodaki retired probably because of his age.
For the Mugen Train movie, I would recommend to watch the movie first, then go back and watch the first episode of the TV series. The first episode is new content that wasn't in the movie. However there are extra credit scenes (the Taisho-era Secret or other extra scenes) after each TV episodes...but the Arc itself would have a better viewing experience watching the movie version.

Tsuguko's arent just the apprentice . They are like the heir ,canditates to replace the hashira once they are retired or dead. Apprentice can be anyone .

Without spoiling anything. The Tamayo comment isn't coming into play anytime soon. It's just the master acknowledging that he's aware of her existence and that he agrees with Tanjiro, that there can be "good" demons.

When I heard the Master mention Lady Tamio, I had the same response Adam did. I just thought that was the Master being like. I know there are a few good demons out there and I support you.

@15:50 So, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that he meant she's still just a young girl. We've been exposed to the cream of the crop when it comes to Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. Usually they're not that far along as Demon slayers as these guys at that age. Remember they're all still young teenagers.
Also pretty sure there's a time and era context into this, where women, especially at kanao's age, are doing high risk high labour jobs at the frontlines. It's not that common back then
So a few things I can explain without much spoiler:
- Adam is pretty much on point about the Twelve Kizuki. They can rise and fall in ranks (as we saw with the drum demon) and replenished/promoted as needed or as Muzan sees fit.
- Kanao doesn't use insect breathing; she uses flower breathing so she would become the Flower Hashira if she does one day become strong enough (typically by slaying a twelve Kizuki). The key, though, is that one does not simply inherit the Hashira title (you might notice that there is no current Thunder Hashira even though it's one of the most fundamental styles).
- This is my personal opinion but I don't think there are any problems with there being multiple Hashira with the same style. People train and fight together so it's not impossible for a pair to have similar accomplishments and skill levels.
- Generally Hashira cannot afford to train Tsuguko because they are very busy with demon slaying missions. As for why Shinobu can afford to train Kanao, you'll find out later during their back story.
About inheriting, yeah they don't inherit the Hashira title, but the breathing styles are inherited and then it becomes upto the individual to gain the Hashira status.
I don't know if sarah knows this yet but rengoku's voice actor, the red flaming hair and boisterous hashira, is daichi's voice actor
We are close to the movie, it will be something big, if I could recommend it, I would tell you to watch episode 1 of season 2 and then watch the film. This ep focuses on one of the characters that will be in the film and is a complete complement to the anime. A hug from Brazil to you!
We have gotten that same recommendation from a lot of people. It seems to be the way people prefer to watch the first part of season 2!

After that, 2nd season came out, but Episode 2 until Episode 7 is what the Movie about being separated.
So the only original Episode for S2 was Episode 1 and Episode 8-18

You will get the masters story, you will get each of the hisharas(probably spelled wrong)stories, you will get muzans story, you will get to learn about tanjiro & nezukos’s father, you will get to learn about the highest ranking demons and see their stories. All shall be explained and questions will be answered just gotta keep watching. Y’all are asking really good questions and have good predictions so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all. In my personal opinion I think the stone, snake & wind guys have the saddest back stories, well none of them are very happy backstories but those three are particularly sad imo. When you start the next season(or watch the movie whichever version you watch) you start to get into the storyline, season 1 is mainly an introduction of characters and to show you how the powers work in this world and it gives you the rundown of the plot but season two is where the real mission starts, season one is just getting tanjiro to the starting line kinda.

Giyu not training Tanjiro has nothing to do with not seeing talent in him. I won't spoil anything but as you go further into Demon Slayer you'll see why it was never really an option for Giyu but you'll love him all the same.

Then the flashback shows her foundations, and lastly, her confidence in others. Her will to be guided.
The "girl" coment on kanao if im not mistacken is more of a age coment, like a girl child nothing to do with the "woman" part

after finishing season 1 of Demon Slayer if you want to start a new anime I recommend either Bocchi The Rock or Delicious in Dungeon. These are two animes that I find very interesting and enjoyable to watch

I grew up on a group of islands called Azores. Legends say the islands uses to be unified into one large island with a lake in the middle but one day Tanjiro jumped head first into the lake causing the the island to split into 9 smaller islands.

The way mission distribution works between swordsman / ranks in the demon slayer corp is by scouting for possible demon related events (people disapering, rumors of supernatural sightings...) and assessing the strength of said demon (for example, supernatural abilities are indicative of blood demon art, which would indicate grater strength). Once this step is completed, unless its highly likely that there is a twelve kizuki, they work by jerarchy. As there are much more Mizunoto (lowest tier swordsman) you send them to investigate, and if they report for higher level demons or, likely, die in combat and there's no report back, larger number of Mizunoto are sent, then higher ranked squads up to the Hashira. So in mount Natagumo there were a lot of higher ranked slayers than Tanjiro/Inosuke/Zenitsu, yet they were sent . The Hashira (Shinobu and Tomioka) were finally sent to rescue as none of the lower tier swordsman were capable of getting the job done.

Giyu could have trained Tanjiro as his Tsuguko but he didn't. He instead asked Urokodaki to train Tanjiro. You will find out the reason in a few seasons time.

Sometimes the "taisho-era secret" is funny. If you feel that the episode was intense and don't want to kill that mood. I recommend you no to watch "the secret" or the final "nin nin" part of the episode.

Only the lower six get replaced among the kizuki, the upper six dont get replaced that easily unless something major happens

idk if this is a spoiler, but Sanemi has to rare blood similar to the boy who the demon in the mansion kidnapped. Rare blood is equal to eating 100 humans and it tastes better. So Sanemi is testing Nezuko witj is irresistable blood.
