Y'all we just hit 7,000 subscribers🎉🎉 Thank you so much for helping me grow this community!
just got my 1st green stalk
That is awesome!!
Hi Barbara there is a machine that will shell your peas. We’ve used it before but I didn’t like it, because it crushes some of the peas while mashing them from the shell. Congrats on 7,000 subscribers!!!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing fam ❤
A wide range of both (manual) crank and electric "pea shellers" are available, for either personal home AND/OR industrial use.
Congratulations on hitting 7K!
Thank you!
thank you for the code
I LOVE your videos and your excitement and your presentation. Thanks for being you!
Aww I appreciate that very much!
Hi Barbara, this is where your comfrey tea would be great! It's high in nitrogen. I will be watering my corn tomorrow with my comfrey/water mix.
Ohhh good point! But you said I have to let it sit for 3-4 weeks?
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead Yes, that's correct. This is a lil nugget for your next planting season of corn and other fruits/veggies that require a high amount of nitrogen, potassium and magnesium. Andddd remember if you can get dried comfrey, you can boil it like loose leaf tea. Same effect.
@@Ms.Fleming I can put the comfrey in my freeze dryer like I did before right? And use that?
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead Yes ma'am boil them and mix with water. Wait until they're about 6inches to 1ft tall to fertilize with comfrey tea.
Hi Barbara those peas looks delicious and the small ones called snaps they are great cooked with the peas. I have my second crop growing now the first started drying up from the heat so I planted a another crop. Take care see you next time.😊
Yes so yummy!
Do you cook these like black eye peas?? Never had these b4.
@@lovingchange2761 Yes you do!
Amazon has a variety of of pea Shellers for a variety of of prices
OK I will take a look! Thank you.
And those purple hull peas 🤔 they’re the best peas in the world🤣🤣 I’llwe love them here in Alabama. Yours are doing great with those. And I think your corn would do better too. I order my seeds from that company. They have some good seed. I also like to watch the RUclips channel. That type of corn is very sweet and delicious if I plant it any, that’s what I would plant.. thanks for all your tips and all your encouragement. I do a lot of container garden because I can’t dig in the ground like I used to. I have trouble with my knees. My husband is not my husband is not a gardener. Happy gardening and I wish you well on this last crop of corn🥰.
Thank you!
My comment just disappeared 😂 The Dragon tongue beans are amazing! Got them from Baker Creek. I still have some if you can't find them😊
Thanks-I will look then up.
congratulations!! and I just ordered my first greenstalk, thanks for the code!
Yea!!! That is awesome. What color did you get?
I don't mind snapping peas or beans, just that I am in Texas makes it a lil'bit harder.
Congratulations!! New subscriber here, so glad I found your channel. 😊
Welcome!! So glad you are here. What state are you in?
First, I love your channel but my question is, how do you know that you know that you are able to plant another harvest?
Thanks so much! I looked at the days left in my growing season and then looked at the days to maturity for the corn. There are 100 days left in my growing season and this corn is 75 days to maturity.
Yes, plant corn in a block Plant the same kind of corn. You're gonna do it this time. It's gonna be great!
Thanks!
Very nice! Those peas!!! I've never had them, let alone planted them. What do they taste like? I eat black eyed peas all the time, & so interested in those purple haul peas. Thank you ma'am
If you like black eyed peas, you will love purple hulls. They are close in taste but I LOVE me some pink eyed purple hull peas
@@KellieDTravis Me too!
Very similar to black eye peas but bit more "mild"
They are soo good!!
Thank you glad to see someone else here in TN doing a second round. Best of luck.🍀
Yes we are going to try it!
When will you it's time to harvest your corn?
When the silks turn brown!
That peaches and cream is delicious 😋!
Looking forward to it!
Where is this community tab you keep speaking of?
Click on the channel name and then you will see the community tab in the list.
Under my channel name, you should see videos, playlist and then community. Let me know if you do not see it. Send me an email and I will record a video for you showing where it is.
I've heard of people soaking pea seeds wonder if you could do that with corn?
Hmm never heard of it.
I had planted to plant a second succession of purple hull peas today but we've been dealing with tornadoes from Hurricane Beryl today in NW Louisiana. I may plant some corn also. I planted 4 stalks in the spring just to see if I could get it to grow and I did but they all "tassled" at different times so I'm sure none of it got pollinated lol I've never tried snapping and cooking the green pods. How does that taste? I always just shell them when I see the big bumps in the pod. My grandfather used to have a pea sheller but it squished more than I would be happy with losing so I'll just keep shelling them manually
The green part taste like a green bean sorta to me. Be safe with the tornadoes!
I would shell them for free, because I have nothing else to do😊
Hi Barbara. Nice video. If I hv an AgriSupply store in your area, they sell all kinds of gadgets for "homesteading" jobs incl a pea sheller, corn husker, nut crackers, apple peeler, French fry cutter, etc. or you can order from them or from Lehman's. Yes, it does take time.
Thanks!
I'm from south Alabama. I take mine to a seed store to have them shell for me. $5 isn't bad for a bushal. I just want to say I adore you and keep doing what you do
What!! Oh let me see if I have a seed store close to me. I would pay to use it! Thanks so much for the compliment!
Not sure how to go to community tab
The community tab is right under the name of my channel and beside video and playlists. But here is the link to register: livingfoodsfarm.com/pages/events
Check with your local co op to shell your peas. Ours shells them at a small cost.
I will call them tomorrow!!
I want to do your work shop but not sure how to register
Awesome. You can register here at this link: livingfoodsfarm.com/pages/events
