"Chop Suey!" by System of a Down for me is like a musical journey through self-doubt, inner turmoil, and the big questions about life and death. The lyrics dig into feelings of guilt, second-guessing your place in the world, and trying to make sense of everything. The title "Chop Suey" is kind of a symbol for the messiness and confusion of life. The song's emotional intensity and raw delivery really bring out the struggles and battles going on inside the singer's head. Thank you for sharing and having this discussion with everyone. its brilliant seeing people so far from the usual audience reacting and learning the deeper meaning and being blown away. The fact they can identify shows us that the lyrical content is something we can all experience.
"Odds and ends, assorted pieces" is the literal meaning of Chop Suey in Chinese. I feel it's a very fitting description on how we all have come to be due to our own separate life experiences and still be able to share this tiny blue dot in space. Peace/JT
Nice work describing the song and its meaning, well done !! SOSD always tells something to think about in their lyrics. And your new filming place looks great 🤘
Something I love about music and lyrics is how interpretations vary based on a person's experience. The band has said the song is about how deaths are viewed differently depending upon how the person died--like if someone dies in a car accident, the death is tragic while if someone dies because of an overdose, the death is stupid, maybe even deserved because they see it as a punishment for becoming addicted to drugs. Regardless of the lyrical intent, I enjoyed your interpretation of a conflict between two people within the song as it's similar to my experience with depression and suicidal thoughts--two parts of my brain fighting back and forth over how to go on or not. Thank you for making these videos! As a metal fan, seeing everyone's takeaways from the genre is always a delight!

I thought the line "Why'd you leave your keys upon the table? You wanted to!" was a reference to someone knowing they wouldn't go back home because they intended to die.
I always assumed it was abandonment, interestingly my father now in his late 60s loved this song when I was teenager. I brought him the album but he only liked this song. It was also a litterial bastard so perhaps that explains it, a bit of belated teenage angst in his middle age 😂
Damon spoke about this song, saying that it's about the tragic reality that many people believe that some human lives are more important than others, and their deaths only "worthy" of mourning and sorrow if you lived the way the world thinks you should have. So, if you were, (using his own example in the interview he gave), a drug addict who died of an overdose, many would say you deserved it, you were selfish, etc. and have no compassion for the pain in your life. Many "angels" have lost their fight with depression and other forms of mental illness, but because of the social stigma surrounding these issues, their lives are viewed as less important. I think it's a brilliant song. I remember seeing the music video on MTV after it came out, and was hooked on SOAD ever since.
Hearing them makes me proud of my 🇦🇲Armenian origin. After the reunion SOAD performed for the very first time in Armenia on the 24th of April in 2015. Sadly, I missed this concert and also later Serj's solo concert (open-air free!), but long story short, please, please, check out Holly mountains! And if you want to hear more of the Armenian style ornamenting in their songs, you should definitely listen to i-e-a-i-a-i-o! And thanks for the amazing analysis, really enjoy watching them ))

As others have said, no apologies necessary for pausing the songs, as it is much more fascinating to hear how the reactors view and process what they're seeing. It is always interesting to hear people from very different walks of life reacting to things that may be not even a second thought to myself, as this is a song I've heard countless times since I was a kid.

Every metalhead since 1998: I don't quite understand the lyrics of this song but I love it. Chacha in 2023 after one hearing: This is what it means. Every neighborhood in the world needs a Chacha... we westerners push our elders to obsolescence while they are the most precious elements of a society. Big love to Pakistan and its awesome people.
Oh my god, this is one of my favorite songs ever!!! So excited for them to see it! If you play them Tool (please!) you can point out how they often mix in very middle-eastern sounds and instruments in their music 😊
Very interesting reaction and discussion. I am a bit sad though that we didn't get to see a discussion about the way the lyrics reference and quote Essa/Jesus in the don't. I imagine it was discussed but didn't make it into the final video.
What an interesting intrpretation, that the lyrics protrait the discussion between 2 characters. Not how I understand the lyrics but there is a valid point of view in looking at it like that.
I absolutely adore seeing people who might not be subjected to it experience the music that shaped my life What a wonderful reaction and I wish you all the best this was great
Sadly an incorrect description of what the song means in the intended context, BUT, I love seeing your interpretation of what it means, and what they feel about this. Awesome vid, love spreading this song in general

The way these Uncles are studying this music, some of us are studying their reactions as we have grown in formative years with these lyrics and music. PRAISE GOD
Thanks for the video! This one is a really difficult one due to the somewhat confusing nature of the lyrics, but I do think it's largely about how society judges those who engage in self destructive behaviors. It might be interesting to see the reactions to BYOB by the same band as well, but I understand the political aspects of that may be a little too controversial for the channel.
The old dude always gets it, language barrier? I think not! Old man knows his scripture and he could tell ole Serg was shouting at the heavens at the injustice of it all. Good one guys! Serg just makes ya feel it and I'm sure we've all had a angel that had to die, not necessarily suic. But we can all relate to WHY! WHY! WHY!
Loved the discussion and themes surrounding this song. Please have them react to the song "He is" by Ghost as it's on the topic of godmen and religion and I feel it would be interesting to hear the analysis of it from the elders.
Another amazing reaction video Adnan. Thank you to our friends for giving us their views and take on the music. Bless Chacha for being able to see to the heart of the message. The man simply takes it all in and then tells it exactly as it he sees it. More often than not he is absolutely correct. His wisdom is inspiring.
I appreciate all these reactions thank you. I believe the meaning of when angels deserve to die is when someone is a beautiful soul and maybe dies of drugs alcohol ect then people look down on them like they deserved it. Judged on their manor of death

Just to say I like the new studio set up,and the amazing art and items,,great vid as usual.🙏👋
After watching this reaction to SOAD's Chop Suey, all I can say is, if RUclips isn't one of the greatest channels on the internet, then I don't know what is! Thank you for this!
I’d like to suggest reactions to Joni Mitchell-Blue. You can tell them how she gave up a secret daughter for adoption and the anguish she felt that fuelled her songs. Love these videos!!! Keep them coming.
I love how the “father” part of the song came to be
As others have said, no apologies necessary for pausing the songs, as it is much more fascinating to hear how the reactors view and process what they're seeing. It is always interesting to hear people from very different walks of life reacting to things that may be not even a second thought to myself, as this is a song I've heard countless times since I was a kid.
IT'S TIME FOR THEM TO REACT TO GUNS N ROSE 🌹
De De mean Yes? I love this Projekt of you.
Thank you for sharing.
That room is beautifully decorated 💖💖
For me, listening to the discussion about Faith, that this song inspired, was truly interesting
Really enjoying this channel and it's guests, and really looked forward to this one... peace from Canada
I'm a 47y old bass player and really enjoying your channel, I like how you are explaining lyrics and talking about music. Music make us closer and you are a gentleman. Cheers from Italy
I understand this song in a different way when I hear it interpreted by such a different culture to my own.
Good work guys, thank you.
This has got to be one of the best reaction channels I’ve ever seen I like it because these are genuine reactions from people that I’ve never seen something like these. Thank you for this. It’s very enjoyable. You need to show them some black Sabbath war pigs.
Sending love and peace to you guys
A few suggestions for future videos. Keine lust by Rammstein. Tool's sober. Alice in chains - nutshell (unplugged)
So much wisdom in one single video, I'm suscribing
Finally... I was waiting for this since for months amigo hahaha
I saw system of a down twice when they came to Argentina and it was unforgettable
I am so glad I found this channel.
I love the old man, he's my favorite in these videos. He's so observant, articulate, and wise.
Next should be let the bodies hit the floor
LOL
I enjoy yalls perspective for sure gentlemen. 👍
I absolutely adore seeing people who might not be subjected to it experience the music that shaped my life
What a wonderful reaction and I wish you all the best this was great
Sadly an incorrect description of what the song means in the intended context, BUT, I love seeing your interpretation of what it means, and what they feel about this. Awesome vid, love spreading this song in general
una de las mejores reacciones que hemos visto, su reflexion es extraordinaria, siempre es interesante ver sus videos y reacciones, esperamos haya muchas mas , sus reflexiones son brillantes y tenemos que deirlo.
Beautiful work
I loved the man's tale of his daughter's young wisdom about the missing wallet.
how has it taken so long for someone to give me this amazing explanation
Nice set. I was not shown this video and have reapplied notifications.
WHY! WHY!
They understand in their own way. ❤
Loved the discussion and themes surrounding this song. Please have them react to the song "He is" by Ghost as it's on the topic of godmen and religion and I feel it would be interesting to hear the analysis of it from the elders.
TIL what this song is actually about! Thanks man
Another amazing reaction video Adnan. Thank you to our friends for giving us their views and take on the music.
Bless Chacha for being able to see to the heart of the message. The man simply takes it all in and then tells it exactly as it he sees it. More often than not he is absolutely correct. His wisdom is inspiring.
Oh wow....I would love to meet these esteemed men.
I couldn’t have explained this song any better
I appreciate all these reactions thank you.
I believe the meaning of when angels deserve to die is when someone is a beautiful soul and maybe dies of drugs alcohol ect then people look down on them like they deserved it.
Judged on their manor of death
Agree that we can steer away from the suicide topic. I do hope we do more grunge and metal
I guess I just finally meant to take note. I love Aziz Abdul. He always stands out.
TryBalls is why im on you tube everyday
More System of a Down reactions pleaaaase
