I had the same issue my Zotac 3080 was about to take off through the roof, followed your breakdown and im going to consider myself lucky this time because changing the thermal pads worked for me, massively reduced my hot spot from 104 degrees to 80 and now have stable temps while running MSIs Kombuster and gaming, it defintley can help in some cases! Thank you sir for this video, subbed!

i have a zotac trinity 3080 that i just got last week, and in my case, repasting the GPU was ABSOLUTELY worth it. the old owner never used it, and it was very dusty. running BF2042 would have the temps at 86 deg celcius.
i removed the heatsink, and saw that the thermal paste was old and crusty. i replaced it with some MX-4 i had lying around. TEMPS DROPPED BY 10 DEGREES. i didn't even replace the thermal pads! i just kept the old ones. now my card no longer sounds like a jet engine!
if your GPU is struggling with temps, you may as well give it a try. you have nothing to lose

Really chill & informative video. I'm replacing the paste and pads on my 3080 this weekend, and I was a little worried about how it'd go before I watched this.

You should try phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer and performs works better than traditional pastes. On the power section (vrm) and vrams I advice to give thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro.

About to do the same thing, changing the thermal paste and the pads because holy moly my GPU over the past 2-3 months went from being able to withstand 75°C at 320W to getting close to 90°C at 330W and I have no idea what really went wrong. Since it's getting warmer outside and inside as well, I have to act quick because I can't play more demanding games now without the fans going to almost 3k RPM as if it wants to take off and just the sound enough is scare me off.
First GPU I ever took apart was the EVGA 1070 SC when they were sending out free kits for those that had potential missing thermal pads and that helped a lot as I did. Shipped it the express way from the US to my country really quickly.

Great video, I've only opened up one GPU to replace the thermal paste and I was as careful as you opening it up.

Can I ask about replacing Thermal pads? should I cut it by sizes (1 cuts per vram) or just straight Row (a long cut for a row of vram)? I am trying to change it for my RX 5700XT GIGABYTE

To disconnect the fans and rgb connectors do you simply pull the connector or are there tabs that you need to pry to unlock and disconnect them?

Why is everyone using 2.0 and 3.0?
This is from Zotac, "Thermal pads for the memory are 2.0 mm thick, backplate pads are 2.2 mm, and VRM pads 2.5 mm."

    • @BenChieeal
      @BenChieeal Год назад

Finding 2.0 and 2.5mm is easy. Can’t find 2.3mm pads.

    Hi,
Why did you place your pads one way (the right one) on your GDDR6 and the other way on the backplate?
    Isn't there a mistake here?
All the best for the chain. :)

Idk man you’d have to look up the 6900xt and the specific cooler that’s on that

The only disadvantage the zotac 3080 has is it oclocking limits
So if your not going to overclock its a great card.
Another thing is most person dont know that these thermal paste/pad are recommended to be change withing a certain time period 🤷🏾‍♂️

  • @josephmills9031

Ik the video is old but your thermal pads looked fine. They should last 3/5 years. But for anyone doing this i recomend using premium thermal pads. Also recomend graphiene sheet for gpu or thermal grizzle liquid metal.

    Hi guys.
I would appreciate if someone will give me an advice about my situation:
Before to start to tell you my issue, i will mention my gpu: NVIDIA RTX 3080 from MSI - 10 GB 320 bit
For 1 year and half, i had a very small case with just 1 cooler fan that was for cpu. GPU was in a vertically position, so the gpu fans take the air directly out from the case. These days i bought an asus case gt501 with 6 case fans(3 in front and 3 on top) plus 1 cpu fan for airflow in and 1 cpu fan (in the back) for airflow out. My issue is that in gpu-z i saw that everytime i am start playing, the gpu hot stop is 103 and gpu temperature 75-78. Also after ~4 hours of gaming, the game just stop ( crash, but the pc still working fine).
I repaste cpu paste. Should i repaste also the gpu?

In den meisten dieser Videos wird gezeigt, wie darauf herumgewischt wird, tut es nicht! Wenn dann eine weiche Zahnbürste nehmen, Rest dann mit Pinzette, oder Sauggerät abtragen.
