    The glaring technical problem with the tornado encounters in this movie is that the people likely wouldn't have survived any of them in real life. A real tornado would have simply sucked them out from under that bridge they were hiding under. And the F5 at the end of the movie would have shredded them when it passed over them -- whether they were anchored to the ground or not. An F5 has wind speeds of around 300 mph. They can crush cars like aluminum drink cans, flatten houses and disintegrate human bodies.

    • @toomanyaccounts
      @toomanyaccounts 2 месяца назад +9

      lol!! tornadoes have been known to pick up people and drop them relatively unharmed. One guy is recorded as being thrown a quarter mile and only suffered badly scratched feet and a head injury due to a lamp in his mobile home knocking him out. The prior record was by a 9 year old and her pony who were thrown a 1000 feet with no injuries to either.
      Tornadoes do weird things. They often don't pick up things they should have for example or drive things into things with extreme force while other times leave everything intact despite picking them up and swirling them around.

    • @sivonni
      @sivonni 2 месяца назад

      @@toomanyaccounts F5's are not survivable unless you are underground or in a vault or walk in freezer, something like that, if you are in the direct path. There are many examples of F5s literally ripping people and animals into pieces that were hiding in their houses in closets or bathtubs. The one in 1996 went through a neighborhood and the only people who survived where the ones underground or at the very edge of the tornado's path. There was a family on the edge; little girl in the bathtub, mom on top of her, dad holding on and covering them both. The mom and daughter barely survived, found on opposite sides of the neighborhood. Dad's body was found days later.
      F5s have been known to scour the ground so strongly that nothing but the foundation remains, pulls pipes out of the ground, and takes off up to 18 inches of top soil from fields. Plus there is tons of debris in the wind. If nothing else, Bill and Jo would have been pummeled or impaled by all the debris.

    I've lived in Oklahoma for 32 years the only tornado I've personally seen was the tornado that hit my house in 2019. The tornado sirens woke me up at around 1 AM and that's when I turned on the tv to watch the weather. The meteorologist was pointing out the tornado in the storm and it looked to be about a mile away headed straight for my neighborhood. That's when I lost power and noticed how absolutely still everything was outside. I ran into my bathroom and started to hear a low rumble. I've never felt so helpless and alone waiting for it to hit my house, worrying if I was about to die. Thankfully it was an EF1 and just broke some windows and tree limbs.
    That being said, I don't ever want to move to a different state. Oklahoma will always be my home.

If you guys are interested in them I would suggest looking up videos of them and Tornado Alley on youtube. The Tri State Tornado of 1925 was the worst so far. It killed over 298 and its damage path went through 3 US States. F5 wind speed inside the funnel is over 300 mph or (483 kph) F5 wind speed and damage are so strong they have been know to rip up sections of pavement from roads and throw trains hundreds of feet away.

I love this movie...natural phenomenon really intrigues me. The climate change has changed what we call Tornado Alley to a lower section of America. It used to be through Kansas, Oklahoma area but has now included Texas more often. Even East Coast Pennsylvania has had some this year. Bill Paxton died a few years back...I liked his acting so much. You can feel a change in the air when one is approaching. This is a Drive-In Movie Theater. You watch from your vehicle with a speaker in your window. The tornadoes that come at night are the worst. They are in what is known in the U. S. as Tornado Alley. It covers Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. There is a small town in Ohio that has been wiped out three times, that I know of. The best two lines in this movie..."We have cows." and "Who are these people?" In a real tornado, they never would have outrun the debris field. If you live in Tornado Alley, you do NOT have that kind of lawn ornament in your yard. They become deadly missiles. I never got the idea of sirens on Dorothy...the tornado doesn't care.
