Local specialty - Himmel und Erde (lit. Heaven [apples] and Earth [potatoes]) with regional black pudding called Flönz. I don't like blood sausage but it is a huge dish in this area. Such a good combination for soul food.
Himmel un Ääd is a poor man's meal, and therefore delicious!! Btw I know Morcilla from my pilgrimage to Santiago des Compostela. Burgos, a town I then crossed, is famous for this. And the Morcilla in this town is really phantastic! And it's perfect for Himmel un Ääd, too.
Potatoes with or without skin. Well it depends. For mashed potatoes without, fried potatoes is a mood thing, Reibekuchen without but even when i peel them (the raw ones) i use the skin, shell however to make potatoe skin chips out of it 😊
another pretty fine and easy to make dish from the palatinates is dreckische ( dirtys) its pan fried/roasted potatoes with melted liver and blood saussage over them in the pan spiced with salt pepper majorum
This is the Cologne version of heaven and earth. I mix mashed potatoes with fried onion and bacon. There is also a grilled sausage, but as always, tastes go out of another. Many people don't like the taste of potatoes and apples together.
hpuses or flat sices can vary alot in citys usually smaller on the countryside well you can get famely homes that would house 3 famelys in the next city
it depends there are dishes where i eat potatoes with skin when but some other dishes or when the potatoes are a bit older i remove the skin (mostly i even like some pices of potate and skin pices in mashed potatoes)
