- Bonjour à tous, In 2020 the family discovered the beautiful neglected chateau de Lalacelle, the gardens had been long forgotten, overgrown and a shadow of its former glory. With 3 years of hard work the family are slowly reinstating the gardens back to the beautiful french gardens it onve had.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Thank goodness for Patrick’s hole digging skills!!! Where would you be without him!!! 🥰🙏❤️🏰
Haha. He’s always barking orders 😊😊
You are all doing a fantastic job on this truly beautiful design. Can’t wait to see the plants in and Patrick is in his element supervising the digging.
I smile every time I see Patrick.
He loves following the shovel. He’s so darn adorable ❤
Hope you have a watering system in place , it will take ages to water while the plant are getting settled in
I remember how BAD it was, but forgot just how bad. Such a change and the hard work to get where the family is today is incredible
Thanks zach 😊😊
From the tangled, overgrown and neglected derelict that the Château de La Lacelle was until a short time ago, to what we are seeing today, is a marvel of your collective hard labor, artistry, genius and vision - it is absolutely awe-inspiring!
AMAZING! This project is so much bigger than I expected. I can't wait to watch this come together. Shane has done a wonderful job of having the vision and then putting it on the ground.
My goodness what a transformation!!!
Rob thank you for your thoughtfulness and hard work. As well as Shane and his partner, very special thank you to Karen for all your support and help.
Thank you! We couldn’t have got this far without them :) 😊
This will be a legacy that will last 100s of years ,your family and volunteers have done an amazing job .Its a pleasure to be able to witness ❤
P.S. thank you Rob for all the wonderful work you have done. Stay happy and safe .👋🏻
Thank you 😊😊 we will miss Rob 😢😢
I love seeing little Patrick helping with the digging! He is in his element. Digging is what he was bred to do! Can only imagine how excited you all are to see this garden starting to take shape. Lots of work ahead, but it's going to be so beautiful! It's amazing how far you've all come in your time there. Teamwork does make the dream work!
I have watched every episode from the very beginning and it is absolutely mind boggling all that you have accomplished. Only admiration and respect! You are all amazing people, not just about your work ethics but who you all are. ❤️
Thank you so so much 🥰
Wow! The garden is going to be fantastic! It is also exciting to see some plants going in. Sorry to see Rob has gone home. He is a wonderful helper and I'm sure a great friend.
Do you ever feel like your château is thanking you for making it grand again with every step you’re making😀
After seeing this I am convinced there is nothing you can’t do. What a beautiful job! Stunning!!❤
There is no doubt we are all going to miss Rob and hope that he will be back at the Chateau next year. It was a bit of a shock seeing how really bad the walled garden was when you arrived, an overgrown jungle. Look at it now though, what a transformation. 💗
The amount of work you have put into the buildings and grounds is shocking in just three short years. I marvel at how much you have transformed this run down abandoned place into a beautiful estate. I love the plan and the fragrant plants. My parents had extensive formal gardens and had small steel sign stakes with the name of the plant written on them so when guests walked around the gardens they could read the plant name. xx
Hi there, I am a retired Landscape Architect and ex Senior Lecturer in Landscape Design, I just wanted to say WELL DONE for everything you are doing. The design looks fantastic and goes so well with your home. Having watched the wonderful work you are doing on the rooms in the Château I cannot wait to see just what the garden will look like but do realise this is not a race, this will take a great deal of time. I just wanted to wish you ALL well keep up the truly fantastic work.
Visualization shows everything!! WHAT a journey you have been on Lalacelle Team to get the garden to this point! Pat yourselves on the back and have a celebration!!
Thanks Vicki 😊
Wow! It’s hard to believe how bad the overgrowth was when you first moved to the Chateau. The formal garden layout is so beautiful I felt like crying. You guys have put so much work and dedication to this project and probably a lot of sacrifice. Thank you for sharing your journey with us ❤
So sorry to hear that Rob had left the chateau. He was such a wonderful help to you. The garden is going to be beautiful 😊
Just need a thousand hedge plants but we have one rose, just gotta love you guys. Seriously amazing garden design you have there. No stump is safe when Tracy is around. Well done everyone.
Love the design and the plant material planted already. If I was a younger man, I would be coming from the USA to help.
Each new video is more exciting than the preceding one now that so much visible progress is being made every day. What a great sense of accomplishment all of you must be enjoying. And thanks for showing us some of the "before" pictures of the garden area. I had forgotten how overgrown it was before you started clearing it.🥰
OMG what a transformation!!
I’m still binging the older episodes but can’t resist the new ones. My problem is when I start watching I can’t stop!!
Wonderful job everyone 🎉🎉
It's going to be absolutely fantastic! Having Shane help you Terry, oh and Patrick you are cracking on in fine style. What a difference already! Mom and Ash, along with the others chopping, digging and toting! What a great team!
Absolutely marvellous. I love love love these kind of video’s ! Such a beautiful tribute to not only the chateau seeing it regain its beauty . But to you all and what you have accomplished together. And little Patrick happily digging away makes me smile every time 😍
Thank you so much 😊😊
Oh my goodness you are going to have to hire a full time Gardner for such an ambitious project.
Very much enjoyed the aerial view which included the terrace portion of the plan and to see the drawings with some of the plants and colors filled in. What an exciting (and HUGE) project that is taking shape before our eyes. Many, many thanks to all who have taken part, and will continue to take part, in making this part of The Dream a reality!
My God! Terance and Ashley, Tracy and Jonathan, I had forgotten about how your property looked until you showed how it was in the beginning! Man's sake alive! You all have worked so hard! The transformation you all have done so far is nothing less than a miracle! It's truly unbelievable! I can't wait to see the new beds in place and planted! What a stunning chateau and gardens you will have! Best of luck to you all! I keep you all in my prayers! My husband and I watch in disbelief at everything you all have achieved thus far! Thanks for letting us watch!
What a remarkable week. It's been really fun to watch everyone do their bits, especially Patrick's enthusiastic overseeing of Shane's spade work! I'm sorry to see Rob leave, and hope he travels home safely.
Tracy is AMAZING! Sheetrock, stones, painting. She’s always there. God Bless Her! What an amazing mom.
This is beyond the WOW factor 😮 This has definitely changed the old girl into a magical mini palace can’t wait to see more of this progress WELL DONE 💕🇦🇺💕
Patrick is a darling!! 😍🐾
The new design gives a wonderful sense of perspective for a grand terrace garden. Patrick has his eye on every hole to be dug ,too! What a lovely view your visitors will have as they walk through the garden.
I see lord Patrick is on the go again helping you out and showing you how to do the garden, this is going to be fantastic when it's done 👍😊 take care everyone see you all soon 💕🌼🤗
Thanks Carole 😊😊
OMG this is intensive labor!
Oh my. Things certainly have changed “just a bit” over the years. So many things have been accomplished in the time; clearing out, rebuilding, re-establishing, and then to top it all of magnificently, the design of the gardens. Such energy and vision!
Thanks Paul 😊😊
I love stone it always stands tests of time not like houses are now built ❤ amazing work it’s beautiful wonderful ❤
Who ever said you won’t use the mathematics you learn in school had no vision! Amazing job transferring the pattern to your terraces!!!!!
🇨🇦You all should be very proud of yourselves. Through a lot of very hard work and determination, you have turned an awful piece of scrub land in to something beautiful❣️When the garden is finished it will be a work of art❤️
Now 88, Mum had to sell her lovely English garden property in Nova Scotia. She's been hearing me yabble on incessantly about your property.. "but what are they planting?" she keeps asking.
Tom, Gin & Scooby-Doo 😂
A made-for-TV quality recording/editing/content production, I wish she had a computer & internet...
she'd love you all as much as I do. 🥰 Cheers from Shirley & me, Pat.
It is unbelievable how much work you have done over the last 3 years. It looks fabulous and the garden design is beautiful and will be fun over the years as the plans get implemented. Beautiful and well done team!!
Patrick is the hardest little worker pound for pound and such a sweetheart. ❤️ seeing him.
I absolutely love what you are doing in the walled garden and terrace. It is going to be beautiful. I can see your vision and the lavender and hedges are going to define the space. Every year it is going to get better and better as everything grows and you add little touches. I am a landscaper, and my gardens evolves every year.
It's amazing how much work you have put into the Chateau and surrounding lands. I can't wait to see the gardens all planted, it's going to be wonderful. Lots of hugs, Kathy USA 🇺🇸
It is incredible progress. Such hard work! With great results. And so much grass from the top new flower beds that start the grass paths on the lower terrace. So excited for you all!
I've watched you from the beginning the progress you guys have made is unbelievable and most of it by yourself so happy your getting some help
I started following you all when you first pulled in to actually start living there. I was all worried you all would freeze to death. The place was so overgrown you couldn’t tell what you were looking at. I love this channel and all of you. You are so focused, work so hard and are constantly planning for the future and get her done. ❤
You are all so kind. If there is anything the world needs today, it's kindness. Thank you for being such fine examples of that.
Wow.... watching all this time.. and seeing all the changes to date.. is truly so much fun! The incredible graft you have all put in is amazing to see! Then watching all the transformations.. one by one.. come to fruition is so thrilling.🤩 I am so pleased for you all (amazing volunteers included)!!! You have every reason to be so proud. Can't wait to see the garden come to life!! Blessings from Ontario, Canada! 🥰🍁🍁🍁
I love how you all have a permanent foreman/ surveyor in Patrick who checks every hole you dig !! He's so cute.
Witam kolejny raz to piszę jestem pełna podziwu -to jest praca Waszych rąk a ogród będzie jak w bajce serdecznie pozdrawiam🌱🌷🌼🌻🌺🥀🌹🪴🐞
Stunning...............
Absolutely stunning 😃 fantastic job everyone and Rob will be so missed 🥰
He will be :( thank you 😊😊
What an honour to watch the whole process of a château garden being made. The excitement and pride you all feel must be beyond and so well deserved. Truly amazing, can’t wait to watch the future episodes of the transformation.
Patrick wears many hats, he is the overseer, the gardener, apprentice and the post hole digger
Maybe you should just adopt Rob so he could stay! The transformation is mind boggling. You have all poured your hearts and souls into bringing her back to her original glory. Hats off to you all!
Haha. If we would we could 😊😊
It is mind-blowing to see how far you have all come in such a short period of time. In looking at the garden transformation, one has to remember it has been accomplished in tandem with the cottage reformation and the work done in the chateau interior in the apartment for Ash & Terry and the 500 suite, plus the other garden and gate work. So much to be proud of. Looking at the vision for the formal garden, I wonder if there are provisions for little sitting spots in the garden? Places to read or just to dwell on your epic accomplishments? Congratulations to you all and to your loyal helpers, not forgetting Patrick! I also follow Escape to Rural France and need something restful like this that; less life threatening than watching Dan and his incredible activities!
Wow...... I can't wait to see the plants go in. It will be beautiful. You need to give Patrick a raise. He works so hard. He loves being with you in the yard. Charles Charlotte NC

Wow! "👀"! Gardens & landscape will be SPECTACULAR 🎉 I must say, your Mum is amazing! You all work so hard to re-create this fabulous Château. Be Proud. ❤
The aerial shots really do help to show how amazing this will be. It’s a beautiful and very apt design. I can’t wait to see as it grows and you enjoy the space. Seeing the early shots reminded me just how far you’ve come. Well done, just wonderful.
Thank you for sharing your journey....Congratulations!❤
Well…..What a real joy to watch! How exciting for everyone involved as you can now visualize exactly how it will look and I’m sure this must energizes you all as you can really see the progress. It’s going to look fantastic.
I almost started to cry when you did the overview looking back when you first came to the chateau. I have been watching since you were weed whipping the low terrace. Cleaning away tall weeds and downed trees. Then knocking out plaster on the 3rd floor and building the stairs in the cottage. I remember you carrying down bag after bag of rubble. Love your chateau
Thank you Karen 😊😊
I had to laugh; Patrick is being so helpful in the outline excavation of the upper terrace!! He did, as well, in the lower terrace. It’s so good of all of you to open up said lines making it easier for him to do his job, looking for vermin. 😂😂😂
I just love little Patrick. He’s such a little helper.when there’s diggin to be done,he’s right their to help. ❤️
Just one word - W-O-W!!
Little Patric is such a helpful digger. Always in the anticipation of turning up a mouse or vole.
Once this garden is established people will come from near and far to see it. Truly magnificent.

Dear Patrick ❤️. What a busy boy. He must be shattered by the end of the day.
Can hear your enthusiasm Ash for the garden - it will give you so much pleasure.
Rob, what an amazing partner you have been! All happiness and joy to you.
Most parterre gardens were ripped out due to the intense work required to maintain them. It’s heartening to see one actually being reinstated.
Thank you! We wanted something that wasn’t just grass! This will bring the wildlife in too and good for the environment 😊😊
@@ashleywaters7198 it will be stunning Ash. I can’t wait to see it mature over the years to come.
“Just a few” descriptive words, remarkable, stunning, spectacular, heart tickling, delightful, beautiful and awe inspiring❣️

Absolutely amazing the difference between the before and after pictures. Sorry to see Rob go home. Can’t wait to see the rest of the plants and fountains. Love the plants already planted. Thanks for taking us along this wonderful journey 😍😘
Patrick is supervising all your work again. The garden has been beautifully transformed by the family and friends. I can see it now with the hedges and flowers in.❤
Spectacular!!! And the planting hasn't even started yet. Your garden will be the envy of your neighbours and district!!! You all work so incredibly hard. xx
The little dog is helping dig that's awesome.
The formal design of the garden is quite amazing it is going to be a show stopper
That’s CRAZY how the property looked and how it looks now!!!❤❤❤
Unbelievable transformation of this chateau!

Thank goodness you have Patrick to help with the digging .I do hope he is well paid for his work .😊
Love how Patrick is contributing to the sod removal! LOL! Watch out for the ants with the Peonies. So much progress! Congratulations to all who have contributed!
Rob was indispensable!
I hadn’t seen how bad this area was until this video! The shapes drawn remind me of the diamonds on a pack of cards. This is my favourite part, organising the knot garden.
What a transformation! Starting to come together and the garden plan is terrific!
