I heard about this game being made as one of the lead DOTA guys left. I instantly signed up on the website which only had pictures at that time as I had a good feeling about it. I finally got into the alpha or beta forget which one but sent my friend an extra code I got. We proceeded to have some of the most fun we have ever had in gaming. Infact the fun lasted until season 3 before we burnt out or the game changed to much. Nowdays it's not even really recognisable it's lost all its charm I would only play a version like this.

I keep coming back to this video cause this isn´t just about a game I used to play a ton, it was about the memories and the connections I made in this game. I started playing in Season 3 when Jayce came out and it was one of the most awesome experiences I´ve ever had learning this game. I was loving this game so much I told my friends about this game, they would come to my house and I would show them and they were perplexed by it and so they all started playing with me, it was the best. I wasn´t just playing with these friends of mine but also with other people we knew (I even made friends with one of the bullies I used to deal with it, he started to respect me) and people from other districts of my country Portugal, places far away from my home I would never think of going if it wasn´t for them. It was a joy to watch this game grow in popularity and thrive with his simplicity and charm, everyone could play if they wanted to, it took time but they would learn eventually. I had a hub where I could go to, if I had a really bad day dealing with depression and shit with no help at all, I could just login into Teamspeak, Cursevoice, Skype or whatever we used back then and they were there, sometimes we weren´t even playing, we were just talking and hanging out, we played so much that the internet became our meeting spot where we could laugh, have deep talks and such, it all started with this game. But slowly, the game was changing and with that my whole life as well, I wasn´t sure what was happening but all I know is that I was growing apart from those people and the game changed in ways I couldn´t enjoy from it anymore without looking up a guide or having to spent whole days stressing and grinding just to keep up with everything, everyone started to get so competitive, my friends would have fights with each other and I felt confused and sad between all this, the flamers and griefers just became even more common and it wasn´t the same. Now I´m left with a League I can´t even recognize, I still play the old champs, I still play playstyles they´re not viable anymore for a long time (RIP Alistar Jungler) I can´t stand the new ones, they´re too complicated to handle with so many unnecessary mechanics. Now I´m getting insulted all the time by my own teammates every single game, back then I didn´t have to fucking mute anyone. Everyone wants to be a Faker now with the nonstop growth of E-Sports and the idea that you can be a Faker too, not to forget the whole market around it. Whatever freshness comes, sometimes I can actually enjoy it but I quickly get tired of it, now my friend´s list is a ghost town, very few remained, the grinders who are Diamond or Plat and the rest gone, some of these people I don´t talk with them for years, I feel alone, trying to get hold of some of these memories, I don´t feel like I belong there anymore. It changed the way I see gaming, I can´t enjoy videogames anymore, I play always alone and I don´t feel like playing anything even when I have all the time in the world, I prefer doing something else cause it reminds me of what I used to have: the people I knew and interacted daily and the feeling of certainty that there´s no going back. @@mark030a honestly true. i wouldn't expect a lol classic server at this point (much to my sadness) unless either Source code of leagues servers from that period of time between 2009-2014 leaks, OR somebody finds out about the Leaguesandbox project and tries to finish it despite it needing a bunch of work still.
Yeah this was around the time when Riot actually released the names of which champion people were playing in chat, when the meta begin to develop as we know it today. I miss these years My league anniversary is in November and I'll be celebrating 13 years with this game
The only thing I really miss it is old (like in this video) minion auto attack particles. Back in time it was much clearer to notice when you are atacked by them.
YES. Items felt stronger, you knew the damage of your champion at any point of the game against any champions... lifesteal was...LIFESTEAL. Way more fun back in the days
I think what really made this fun back in the day was that the game was new enough where competitive league was still constantly changing and didn’t require extreme levels of balancing like it does today. Casual players could still enjoy the game without having to sweat every game and champions were simple and not wiki articles. Ever since league became a major esport it’s pretty much removed any soul, flaw, or any unnecessary characteristic that doesn’t lead to a positive ROI. It’s a shame how they cease and desist this type of thing but practically every Corporate™ Video Game™ Franchise ™ must manage their copyright like it’s an idol because they literally have nothing better to produce, and sit in their office uninspired talking about consumer retention.
I miss this and thinking about Riot shutting down the project is making me so fucking sad, they just can’t let people have fun, it always must be about the money
if its any consolation, one of the devs was an absolute tyrant who didn't deserve any authority. I found this project when a streamer was streaming it and we saw live that he got banned for beating the dev twice in a row in lane ( I remember the dev was only playing teemo). He also banned someone for picking teemo cuz only he gets to play teemo. His username was Lord Le-douchebag-something.
i blame the state of the game today entirely on certainlyt. he was a person who dumped a bunch of money onto riot and started to create character concepts without any prior game development experience. He created Darius. Darius was the beginning of the end for the game, because he was the first true juggernaut before juggernauts existed. He singlehandedly powercreeped the game so much that it is in the state it is today, where every thing is either an unkillable tank monster or a one shot assassin.
Hy i search his name and you were right. All those champs, yasuo, darius, zoe, aphelios, rework akali, rework mordakaiser. All shit stuff he worked from 2011. Though the downfall began from season 5.
Also the down fall is also the fault of mark yetter. He is the full blame of Gankplank, fiora and poppy rework. I serious hate this guy and its unforgiven what he did to my main

I quit league last year because I realized that it was not giving me any positive Tings, but if they make classic league I'll go back to it. League is so boring right now, at that time it was actually fun
Even for standards back then the build sucks balls xD The most satisfying thing back then as GP was Qing someone for 4/5 of their hp, ofter even one shotting them

I used to really enjoy it until 2015-16 when it really started going down the drain with mainstreaming, balance around the pro scene only, the removal of most hybrid items and builds, mana regen and potions gone, going woke, catering to China, etc. It used to be a strategic, slow, not too serious but yet serious team strategy game that'd take 40-70, sometime 80 and even 90 minutes. Now its a 15 -45 min snowball burst fest where even 'tanks' usually die in just a couple seconds, and half the champs are cringe grimdark and/or empowered feminists and/or lgbt. I miss old league.
@Peter Griffin well i wouldnt cause why should i? also they had coded everything themselves nothing illegal was happening here. they just had to give up after years of work because they couldnt afford lengthy courts. riot actually tried to get the code from CS devs, i dont know if they gave it or not. they basically threatened to sue the poor guy because they had found his identity.

Nah, Poppy pushing baron from the pit or Blitzcrank pulling it from behind the wall for the team was the shit.
@@6DarthSion9 That has absolutely nothing to do with what he just said lol.
You could feel the power of your champion, the damage it does at all points. The minions felt stronger, skills were feeling stronger and more important, the clarity oh my god xD I remember when Ap yi could instakill like 2-3 people xD
WHY DID I FIND OUT OF THIS PROJECT A YEAR AFTER IT WAS SHUT DOWN?!?!? I AM SO SAD. I WISH I COULD PLAY VEIGAR AGAIN
Same man wish i could play og Kat and distroy mid! But ya hope someone makes something like this agein hate that i missed it.
its crazy that rammus, veigar and blitz look basically the same as they did in 2011.
Man, i wish i had known about this before they shut it down. How i wished to had played a few games of classic lol.
I would give a kidney to play this in 2021.... i actually cried from watching this video....
Super sad that it got shut down by Riot, but its their trademark i guess. For now there will sadly be no more LoL private servers.
@@TobiasMars another one eventually will appear. Just gotta wait.
@@Cynidecia yes, league of sandbox. Im development
@@Cynidecia I'd bet that by the time another LoL classic server shows up, the real League of Legends is going to die. At the pace that Riot is killing the game lately, I wouldn't be surprised.
@@mark030a honestly true. i wouldn't expect a lol classic server at this point (much to my sadness) unless either Source code of leagues servers from that period of time between 2009-2014 leaks, OR somebody finds out about the Leaguesandbox project and tries to finish it despite it needing a bunch of work still.
i love these warcraft 3 style graphics.
Take me back :(
I heard the valheim music and a neck chitter and I thought I was losing my mind for a second 😂
23:19 Look at Veigar, he deals no dmg... I love it and miss it:(
Right? Full combo for only half their health.
This league was fun. New league is like pissing razorblades.
THE NEW MAP IS GARBAGE
Yeah this was around the time when Riot actually released the names of which champion people were playing in chat, when the meta begin to develop as we know it today.
I miss these years
My league anniversary is in November and I'll be celebrating 13 years with this game
i miss the OLD league :(
The only thing I really miss it is old (like in this video) minion auto attack particles. Back in time it was much clearer to notice when you are atacked by them.
YES. Items felt stronger, you knew the damage of your champion at any point of the game against any champions... lifesteal was...LIFESTEAL. Way more fun back in the days
I think this was the lol I started playing. Or maybe not but I do remember that the latest champion released was Wukong :)
This was so, so good, the entire atmosphere...
@@bobjones42069 lol. that and the MUH EXCLUSIVE SECRET CLUB stuff. never open sourced it so they got what was coming to them.
Riot killed this cause they know they can't do better.
is this available to play? Where did you get the assets?
Im high af and am crying just after 2 mins in already
If i didn't stop i feel i would be crying right now too
old times everyone having fun in chat and playing game
the best era of league
i blame the state of the game today entirely on certainlyt. he was a person who dumped a bunch of money onto riot and started to create character concepts without any prior game development experience. He created Darius. Darius was the beginning of the end for the game, because he was the first true juggernaut before juggernauts existed. He singlehandedly powercreeped the game so much that it is in the state it is today, where every thing is either an unkillable tank monster or a one shot assassin.
interesting, i never considered that
Really interesting take. Can't say I disagree. Comparing Darius to Pantheon or Garen is a really stark departure
@@Mike-iz6li A right click bot with a Yi ult whose gameplay was running down and nothing else that no one played and no one liked to play against except tanks and Jax, a right click bot that could murder his own minions for steroids with occasional global ult that no one cared for and a champion that had garbage everywhere else besides her ult being worst designed ability ever.
so sharp and so beautiful graphics
to map efage port apo to warcraft 3 ;)
I like what the old League of Legends forest looked like.🌲🌲🌲
Valheim music in the background ?
Best thing about new league: Keeping old Cassiopeia's screaming and unchanged veigar and MF voice
That looks incredibly fun ngl
God please bring the old style of LOL. I kno you packed the 2010 version in the book!
boy over the ages how this game has changed and improved or not . its hype
I quit league last year because I realized that it was not giving me any positive Tings, but if they make classic league I'll go back to it. League is so boring right now, at that time it was actually fun
Isso que definia um bom moba antigamente, simplicidade na mecânica e nos gráficos, época que lol rodava em qualquer notebook.
I just realized, isn't classic SR music straight up warcraft 3 theme?
Nah but it's very reminiscent.
am i crazy or it is the Valheim soundtrack playing in the background? 5:04
Cool you noticed it, had the game running main screen in the background entire game x)
is there a way to play the old league of legends?
Damnnn, the nostalgia here is insane...
Even for standards back then the build sucks balls xD
The most satisfying thing back then as GP was Qing someone for 4/5 of their hp, ofter even one shotting them
Seems like yesterday but it's been more than 10 years. Good times.
goddamn kinda weird seeing the old map and old champions being played with modern mechanics xD
I miss league not sure what the other game with the same name is.
damn you even replicated the super low apm of that era
Yes! It was a really chill game with testers and developers
@@TobiasMars What happened? Did they threaten to sue you or something?
@@Dankschon I'm not the developer of this private server, but at the time this was available Riot games threten to sue the developer and it sadly was shut down after that. My role was a tester so I only got to play few games.
@@TobiasMars You're so lucky to have been in know and got to experience this!
Do you think anyone's secretly working on a project like this? I've had a play around with the abandoned LeagueSandbox files and honestly it seemed fairly close to a releasable state.
that was my home town, only time im down to play league more is this season 2
Which champion is this? On red skin baron laner?
Why is there Valheim Music in the background in the beginning? :D
Is there a way to play this version ?
Sadly no, Riot them self shut this private server project down. There will probably never be another one until Riot make Classic LoL if that will ever be a thing.
@@TobiasMars Shame ... Thanks for the reply tho !
How were they able to bring it back. Someone must have had the files for it-
Started playing in 2014 right before the map update. Played with old map for 2 weeks. It looks really dark, cluttered and outdated like i play wc3. New map was the only reason i started playing. With soft green coloring it is more comfortable for eyes to comprehend.
I can faintly hear Valheim music playing in the background lol
When league was fun. And not so competitive every time 🥺
you had the chance to play critplank and didnt...
Gankplank's Q isnt a CRIT everytime, immersion ruined >:(
No seriously it feels good to see old league.
Especially old maokai was so gangster i love it
Nice to see some gl hf in chat
This is probably some old video since they somehow cancelled this project
I WANT TO PLAY THIS AGAINNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss old league.
based and gamerpilled
The skins aren't even good anymore. Like I can't even describe how bad they are. Weeb shit or what is this pretentious skin line?
Soon after the good old GP statik crit build that could one shot with its Q (2sec cooldown)
Call me crazy, but at 0:45 is that the Valheim music?
yepp
@@TobiasMars Is that from the old summoners rift ost or did you have it open in the background?
@@Hypoberic had the game running in the background
Old Garen really reminds me of WoW Paladins!
how download?
Riot gives me a feeling that Riot doesn’t want other people to know that it has ruined this game, so Riot shut the Chronoshift down.
Anyone remember when league was fun ?
isn't that dyrus at the bottom of the scoreboard @ 8:29?
I miss this game
I miss drive by AP Sion.
The Rammus in the chat is so wholesome
And the chat was 2011 vibe too
I love when only 1/10 champ has a free dash (Tris jump)
Nowadays 10/10 champs can dash and some can dash multiple times
I miss old gp
how to download ?
iam have 286 mb total graphics :)
Want to know why my roger is so jolly?
Tell me pepaKing!
No
really enjoyed the sick gameplay of stacking health, dying, and continuing to be zero impact in the game. man old league was great
Why? Why do I hear about this shit so late? All I needed was a glimpse, a mere look into old Nasus by my mouse...
It's funny how the entire portfolio of Rito consists of ripping other games off but when fans go and "rip their game off" they cancel them.
They shut it down?
Well thank to Rito kill them because copyrighted, i hate that ngl, fck rito

playing valheim in the background hahaha
some whacky characters like Bard and Ivern could still be introduced in this version
and chronoshift is no more ;-;
@Peter Griffin well i wouldnt cause why should i? also they had coded everything themselves nothing illegal was happening here. they just had to give up after years of work because they couldnt afford lengthy courts.
riot actually tried to get the code from CS devs, i dont know if they gave it or not.
they basically threatened to sue the poor guy because they had found his identity.
@@mahatmaniggandhi2898 Sounds like our small Indie company.
