When the video is well-made, some would say that it's a mix of muay thai, judo, karate, jiu-jitsu, krav maga, MMA or whatever nonsense. Give credit to real situation Taekwondo when it is well deserved.
It always has been there hidden in the Kata/Poomsae whatever you call them. It's just that there are many people that run Kata without understanding their application.
@@sassuki I guess they did a good job "hiding" it, then! None of the poomsae applications Kukkiwon has ever officially published look anything remotely like this. Also, the moves in poomsae are direct descendants of the moves in karate kata, most of which represent close-range clinch-fighting techniques, not kickboxing-style strikes and jump kicks.
@@MishtahPoog yeah, very frustrating. Most TKD seminars are about competition. You have to go the extra mile yourself and try to find the connection between what is now being called "self-defense drills" and the Poomsae, hell even consider visiting some karate seminars to find out the origins. I follow Sensei Iain Abernathy, which is very open minded, and accepts all kind of people in his seminars, including TKD practitioners. But you should at least know the Japanese terminology of the techniques before visiting his seminars.
@@sassuki Yes, I'm familiar with him. Although I haven't been lucky enough to attend any of Abernethy's seminars, I have followed his work online for years alongside that of Patrick McCarthy and other bunkai experts. Despite being a TKD practitioner myself, most of the martial arts material I watch on RUclips is focused on karate or Filipino martial arts.
Taekwondo was already a mix of those arts. One of the founding Kwons, the Ji Do Kwan formerly Yun Mu Kwon was a defacto Judo school before the unification so Judo had been a part of Taekwondo since its conception.
Half of this looks like it's based off of realistically effective self-defense methods, but executed in a flashy demonstration-team-like way. The other half doesn't look like it's based on realistic techniques, but is still executed in a flashy demonstration-team-like way. :-P I'm optimistic, though. The portion of techniques that do look like they're based on realistic methods look interesting. It looks the Kukkiwon drew inspiration from panantukan, JKD, judo, and jujutsu for its techniques.
Regards Lima - PERU, thank you very much for this Update!!
awesome action movie!
That's my first thought too! I think WT should go stateside and learn real "street defense" on the streets of Chicago.

And why these were not encourage and practice in all taekwondo schools over the world.
Because this are new changes Kukkiwon annouced some time ago. Maybe we will see more of this in schools in the future.
Tutorial?
Good to watch real life situation self defense techniques.

Now it is a mix, judo, jujitsu, karate, kungfu and taekwon-do

Most of these are impossible in "real world" situations. I love tkd. And am ranked with kukkiwon. But this is just awful.
yeah it’s really just movie choreography (still looks cool tho)
@@zachin7 agreed. Def looks cool
Same here, i totally agree with you
@le batonas and what are MA?
Muy bonito, pero no mata...
It's very fast 🥺
So much biases at the same time. It’s all martial arts.! Stop calling this self defence! Techniques are superb. No doubt about it.
음......

Nice choreography, but in the real lífe is not aplicable
