Yeah. I do hate fishermen in my city. But its cause they are idiots and fish off the middle of bridges where you cannot see them or their lines. Its Amsterdam so there is a ton of boat traffic. One idiot, when he realized my boat was coming through, started slowly reeling up his line resulting in a flailing hook darting around that could have caught us in the face. TLDR, dont fish off bridges where there is boat traffic, stick to the sides or where you can see traffic.
Huh I've legitimately never had an experience like what you are describing. I travel almost constantly for work, and on any downtime I'll toss a line in. Everyone is usually so nice when you meet them outdoors. Sorry you've had crappy experiences!
@Dan Trebune I fish 3-4 times a week and probably around 100 days a year for the past 15 years. I’ve had some mind-numbing interactions with people that could have gone viral lol, but honestly it tends to be other fishermen (ignoring etiquette) who want to argue the most. 😬

@@Aced84 I don’t mind at all when people talk to me haha. Honestly i agree with you, that fishing is a lot of fun. But the problem i have with what you are doing is "Catch and Release". Fish are vertebrates and it is aproved that they can feel pain similar to how we do. So from that perspective catching fish for your own satisfaction can be seen as animal cruelty. Again i dont want to accuse you or put you in a bad light or something. I just think its important for people to be aware of what they are doing... how they will actually end up dealing with that Information is up to them. Btw.: in this specific situation, catching and releasing a fish when the water is that cold may actually have an even higher impact on that fish, because since fish are cold-blooded (meaning they have the same temperature as the water sourounding them) they waste a lot of energie if they are stressed and forced to move quickly. And during winter its very difficult for them to gain that Energie back and they might actually end up dieing just because of that.
@@samara.morgan i dont think its the correct solution to just insult someone. The chances that they will rethink what they do are pretty low... most people who are doing "wrong" things do them just because they dont know that its bad. And they will most likely dont even get the point WHY you are insulting them. Just try convincing them... its way more effective and it wont lead to that many conflicts (and those dont make the person ur talking to chage their behaviour... on the contrary... they will just try to get away from you as soon as possible, not thinking about what you may want to tell them but simply be anoyed bythe fact that youre insulting them.
I got back into fishing last year, specifically catfishing. I noticed the more I went to the lakes I knew as a kid locally, the more there was a chance of a person or people just getting curious and coming up to talk. It's nice at first, then if they keep hanging around an talking, I'm thinking, "Arlight person, I'm distracted, possibly missing fish and definitely not getting this time back." Sometimes, I moved spots just to get said person to leave and stop talking lol.
During Covid, I really got involved in my dock fishing, it was an easy way that I could seclude myself while also abiding by the rules that were in place. Long story short, I was at a private neighborhood dock of a very good friend of mine, and it was the neighborhood directly next to mine as well. I was fishing by myself, minding my business, and a group of 12 adults and eight kids came walking down the dock, all holding their shirts in front of their faces, screaming, “get out of here you’re gonna get us all sick” It was like a month into Covid but I wish I could have recorded the interaction. 😂 I left peacefully because I didn’t live in the neighborhood but it’s still comical. It’s always a stress when fishing and someone’s walking up. Stay blessed!
Where i come from. "Abusing fishes" aint really a thing. We just assumed youre hungry and catching one to eat. The sport however is frowned upon. You can catch to eat but do not catch for fun
They aren't happy with catch and release? I mean I can understand it would be bad to let a fish go back in the water if the hook went through the gills or something, but what about the ones that were still fine? 😅
How the heck can you guys not know what's wrong with catch and release? It's literally obvious, you give them an unnecessary injury that'll probably even reduce their lifespan
I've always found that it is mostly hunters and fisherman that are the most environmentally aware. That's because they are the ones who understand the true use of nature and how useful it is

That sounds fucking horrifying. I wonder how many injuries have actually happened because of scenarios like this.

@Dan Trebune spot on
@Dan Trebune I fish 3-4 times a week and probably around 100 days a year for the past 15 years. I’ve had some mind-numbing interactions with people that could have gone viral lol, but honestly it tends to be other fishermen (ignoring etiquette) who want to argue the most. 😬
@@uneedamuracle when you say etiquette do you mean common human decency or is their etiquette with fishing specifically? Like do you just leave fisherman alone? Can you go over and ask hey are you catching anything it’s dead over there etc or for non fishermen is it annoying to be interested and ask a few questions? I live in a place where fishermen go to a spot at midnight and I’m usually just walking at night for peace. I just leave them alone because of the time of night it is lol
@@Aced84 I don’t mind at all when people talk to me haha. If you’re walking by some fishermen you can always just say “any luck?” And they may or may not respond but it’s a perfectly reasonable question.
Etiquette arguments from other fishermen tends to be about fishing too close to someone when there is other space available. People cross each other’s lines and get tangled. I’ve seen shouting matches because a catch and release fishermen won’t give his fish away to someone. 🤷♂️
For the most part though, fishermen tend to be decent people who respect etiquette. 😁

Me too, ma boy. We born lonely ☮️
And during winter its very difficult for them to gain that Energie back and they might actually end up dieing just because of that.
and the fish should never be in direct contact with ice or snow, if you want to release them.
Well it shouldnt actually be in contact with anything ...
Because he's an animal abuser who wants to be patted on his back.
All you need is one situation for it to drive up the anxiety...just when you want to chill
All I know about a happy life is 1. Fishing 2. Sleeping (dreaming about fishing)
From my point of view, please only go fishing when you are ready to catch them for consumption, not for "letting them go afterwards",
I agree. But, there are regulations on size/weight. Some species you're not allowed to keep. Some have regulated seasons in which you can keep them.
From my point of view, mind your business

I got back into fishing last year, specifically catfishing.
I noticed the more I went to the lakes I knew as a kid locally, the more there was a chance of a person or people just getting curious and coming up to talk.
It's nice at first, then if they keep hanging around an talking, I'm thinking, "Arlight person, I'm distracted, possibly missing fish and definitely not getting this time back."
Sometimes, I moved spots just to get said person to leave and stop talking lol.

People hate fisherman because the fish are minding their damn business.
You can catch to eat but do not catch for fun
why not? what's wrong with catching a fish and then releasing it back to live it's life???????????
No catch and release? Why?
It makes 0 sense to get mad at a catch and release. Would you prefer they just let them die on land while not eating them?
They aren't happy with catch and release? I mean I can understand it would be bad to let a fish go back in the water if the hook went through the gills or something, but what about the ones that were still fine? 😅
How the heck can you guys not know what's wrong with catch and release? It's literally obvious, you give them an unnecessary injury that'll probably even reduce their lifespan
That is one of the smoothest loops I have ever seen on YT

People with ''BAUER'' ice skates are always nice.
I've always found that it is mostly hunters and fisherman that are the most environmentally aware. That's because they are the ones who understand the true use of nature and how useful it is
Because if they fuck it up even once theyre livelihood is permanently ruined
Can't agree, they make mess, spread diseases and kill the best/strongest animals instead of weaker ones like natural selection would do.
