I think Medvedev's backhand is the best. And Zverev is close behind. Med can hit any ball with his backhand. There are no weaknesses. His backhand is clearly better than forehand and he uses his backhand to setup his forehand. Zverev doesn't have some of the shots that Med has. He doesn't play shot hops as well but he has a running angle crosscourt backhand shot that's amazing.

Incredible analysis and so helpful. Best backhand all time, and actually quite revolutionary. I LOVE how he opens the racquet face up. It’s bad ass, it just allows him to hit how he hits consistently over and over again no matter where he is on the court. For example, he can hit the backhand inside out from the deuce side and unless if he was way on the deuce side giving up the whole court, it wouldn’t be possible, but he can take a little step into the deuce side and hit a backhand and open up the face to go inside out. It’s beautiful!

Great info on this analysis, he is so consistent with his placement! What grip styles is he using on his dominant and non dominant hands?

Fantastic analysis, although I would have loved to hear your thoughts on the spacing of his hands on the racquet.

Looks like is more of a push with the left hand and not as much pull with the right hand as a lot of other players. Is that accurate????

It should be an extension of elbows.

Such an interesting analysis, he literally hits the ball full in the face, completely flat with no spin. Its interesting to see the trajectory of the ball as it leaves his racket face, there is almost no shape whatsoever, the flight path is as close to 180 degrees that you could get. If that angle of attack was even 10 degree steeper at contact the ball would hit the back fence - but it never does. Kyrgios and Norrie very similar stroke mechanics, but Medvedev is much more fluid.

I think you point out why I found his stroke somewhat ankward, but he has amazing vista, footwork, speed and control, no doubt about this. Still lack a bit of spin to master clay court for example.

the fact that his face is opening up after contact might mean that the ball hits slightly above the axis not necessarily that he's deliberately rotating it

I think he is definitely amazing and needed in this "cookie cutter " stroke era.

      what's this cookie cutter thing?

@@rezlem2507 I think it means technique looking the same for majority of professional players.
