The sluice box hopper made me laugh, then go..wow- that is absolutely ingenious....It looked the feeder to a pellet stove once you had all your concentrates in there..I never thought of using my ice fishing sled....Mr Robertson- You are now Elmo's hero.......I agree 100% on being able to feed your design with dry material-If you used wet material in your design- You would have to have a spray bar on top to stop it from jamming....Your sluice box reminds me of the one I built -I incorporated all my favorite design to catch the gold...If a piece of Gold ever escapes, then it deserves to be set free....thanks for sharing the ideas...Dig,DIg,DIg
So it works better than I expected. I think it is going to work well with wet material as well My fist run the material was wet and it worked fine. I hate to do all the work to put the dirt in the sluice and then just blow it out the end my set up is not perfect yet but will keep working on it . Thanks for watching.
I see no flaws in your system..I have built a few myself and tried different thing each time....With your system running wet of dry would not make a difference because your spray bar being in the bottom liquefies everything before heading down the sluice..only change I would make is adding an extra spray bar on the top of the bucket....With a little jet dry- I would feel confident in running my dirt thru that....Great work...A little paint and you could sell them at the gold shows..lol
love your channel. nice land! lovely country you live in! I can't wait to move from New York and enjoy the fruits of my land! your set ups are great an your claims provide fun an gold. love it brother. would be awesome if you sent me a bag of your paydirt I'll hold a fun segment of your alans Montana claim gold!!
Hey Martin Thanks for the support. Yes I am very lucky to live here in Montana. Maybe you can visit some day. I could send you some of my pay dirt from Montana We should email and talk about it. Maybe I could do a couple of videos to help out you channel as well. Email alanrobertson976@gmail.com
I made one of those wheelbarrow classifier before I was into prospecting still have it Was made from really old old bed springs ,used for getting stones out of dirt for a flower bed Never thought about it for gold work till I saw your videos
Looks like the feeder is working great. Should make your feeding job much easier. A 6"x10" or 12" piece of that sawtooth mat should fit quite nicely in your feeder exit. The mat needs about 800 to 1100 GPH to work well at that angle so it should work well there. I just got my sluice up and going and running tests today and I should have more info on it later in the week. So far I like that it has so much more storage room than the Vortex and the Deep V. Clean out is very fast and easy as well. I'll see how the capture rate is on it as well.
Thank you Utah. You already have some of the sawtooth mat. I can't wait to see it in action it looks like it would work great. Good luck on your test today I will be looking for the video.
I ran it for 4 hours yesterday to try to find the sweet spot on water flow and best classification. So far it runs -20 mesh and smaller beautifully with 800 gph. I'll run it with larger material today and try to see how it does.
I ran +20, 30 and -30 material today. It caught most of the +20 and only lost 4 flakes. I didn't find any in the 30 and -30 tailings. This seems to work best with the smaller mesh sizes. I'd show you a couple of pics but RUclips doesn't allow pics in the E-mail part.
How did your test go? I just ordered the sawtooth mat today. They say it can be used with material classified to 1/4 inch and that is what I screen my material down to It should be a great addition to the sluice.
Love your self feeding automatic sluice hopper idea! This frees you up to do something else e.g. classify material, thereby doubling your productivity ; ) Hopefully those gains are showing up in the gold pan! -Dan
looks like it works great but your pay dirt should be wet when running it so your gold wont float on you.. i found that out the hard way when i panned out my tailing and found a lot of gold then my Dad told me why.
Alan Robertson try that "tee port" idea I emailed you... loop the spray bar through the bucket and back to itself... center your water inlet from the pump... equal distance to each 1/2" port... tee fittings as close to edge of bucket... I'll email you on Friday... I have it drawn up on my computer at work...
That is a cool auto feeder for your sluice, I saw one made by MrTeslonian also which was really cool too, I hope you would not mind if I did my take on it as well... Awesome and some nice color too. have you ever looked at the Dream Mat? it's made by another Montanian also.
Thanks Marvin. It is still a work in progress I reconfigured the the pvc pipe with only one control valve for the water flow seems to be working well. Absolutely give it a try I would like to see what you come up with. No I have not tried the dream mat yet I just ordered the new sawtooth mat and going to give that a try. Thanks for watching.
OK guys just my thoughts and I may be wrong but if I classify my dirt down to 1/4 inch doesn't the bigger rocks get stuck in the dream mat and wash out the small gold to move the bigger rocks out. what has been your experience with that?
The various eddy currents created throughout the dream mat system creates WAY Too MANY vortexes that cause the gold to drop out, even the micro pieces. The 1/4" material is affected more by the water flow and it really doesn't effect the gold much at all. I personally love the dream mats and think they are the best matting system out there. Just my opinion
Hey Alan. I've watched a lot of diy highbankers and have decided to make this one. Do you still like it and run it after all these years? I got a keene 33" length by 7" wide sluice that a buddy gave me and plan to use that unless you see any issues with that. Thanks again!
Hi Taylor this is the high banker you want. ruclips.net/video/Tik_eSgg4iU/видео.html The sluice should work fine, I would upgrade the mats to silicone if it was me.

Good idea selling them I would just have to clean it up a lot will have to think on that for awhile.
not bad for 2 buckets....nice setup...seems to work just fine....good job...thanks for all you do...good luck, see ya next time.
Not to bad at all. I would love to fill my truck up with that dirt and bring it home. Thanks for the support Tony.
Alan I think you got it dialed in now great job. THANKS for the video
Thank you Mike. It is working out well. should be able to get out next week and run a lot more dirt. Thanks for watching.
Great video, I love your automatic feeder looks like run good, not to bad you get gems and gold, see you next video.
Thank you I am happy how the self feeder is working out. We are planning a three day prospecting trip next week should be fun. Thanks for watching.
Looks like you've got the self-feeder pretty well dialed in...great video Alan, thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Bill It's working great!
I love it! Will make one soon! Thanks for sharing!
sweet set up
Thank you for watching. I hope you are having a great summer. I need to get over and watch some of your fishing videos. Take care.

The classifier work great I just wish we had dryer ground here so I could use it more.
Maybe some kind of 12 v shaker to workit
@@alanrobertson2510 maybe some kind of 12 v shaker system
@@johnfint2847 I have been wanting to make some kind of shaker deck for a while now but the silicone sluice mats are taking most of my time right now.
Very nice setup.
Glad you think so!
That beats the hell out of using a scoop. This is the best self feeder I've seen yet. Nice
Thanks it worked pretty well I haven't used it in a while we are headed to the sapphire mine today maybe I can get some more of the dirt to run.
Innovation is how great products are invented to help people!👍 and you definitely got it going on like😉
Thanks Ralph: that is so great to here. I just think sometimes there is just a easier way to do things sometimes it works and sometimes not.
I liked this video cool feeder Alan :)
Thank you Redman. Looks like it's going to work out well.

Let me know how it goes if it will run -20 it would be great for a clean up sluice.

Thanks Dan The feeder is working great it was one of my better ideas. Even found a few pickers using it so far . Thanks for watching.
I like it. You come up with some pretty good projects. Love your channel.
Thank you I just wish we had more dry dirt here so I could use it more. Thanks for watching,
Do have much of a lip, on self feeder. Glueing a magnet under or bottom, catch the black sands. Looks great to me!
Thanks Matt. Not hardly a lip at all. I think next time I use it I will try the Magnets underneath the hopper.
Nice job👍
Thanks 👍
I enjoy the DIY you put out ..👍
Thank you! Au Rockn.
Lookin good :D

Good call on the slits in the spray bar... I have not had a chance to work on mine yet...
Hey Michael I am still not totally happy with the spray bar It needs to put out a more even flow. Any Ideas?
Alan Robertson try that "tee port" idea I emailed you... loop the spray bar through the bucket and back to itself... center your water inlet from the pump... equal distance to each 1/2" port... tee fittings as close to edge of bucket... awesome. I was just inspecting some mine tailings this afternoon. Hmmm only way to know is to test-pan and sample right?! I like your set-up. peace
Looks like your Self-Feed set-up only works dry or am I wrong. I like it.
This was only the second run with it. The fist time the material was wet and it worked just fine. Thanks

The Dream Mats are simply AWESOME. Don't miss anything. I am not a fan of mats or moss but the dream mats are the exception.
oh, they are a very good mat, ha Michael. I love how fast and simple they clean out...
OK guys just my thoughts and I may be wrong but if I classify my dirt down to 1/4 inch doesn't the bigger rocks get stuck in the dream mat and wash out the small gold to move the bigger rocks out. what has been your experience with that?

I'd like to see what was in your waste dirt to see how well it caught the gold.
So would I . I don't even use those mats now I have moved on and making my own mats out of silicone. Thanks for watching.
