      Think of it like this every magnet (no matter how strong) will create two movements.
      The stronger magnet will pull the truck to itself AND itself to the truck.
      This then cancels out the movement.
      The stronger magnet's own power will prevent any propulsion.
      Even if the stronger magnet had infinite power the truck would still not move.

    Consider my theory: it is not the "magnet" pulling the truck but the invisible magnetic interactions. THERE IS AN INVISIBLE MOTOR INTERACTION that does not come from a force of the magnet itself but of the distance between the two parts in interaction.

    Since the studied system (solid indeformable) is the car + beam + magnet, the force between the magnet and the car is an inner force and therefore does not intervene in the fundamental principle of dynamics, so has no effect on the movement.
    Is that all right?

    Why not replace a part of the crane with a spring and make the magnet an electro-magnet, that way when the electromagnet is turned on by some current, it coils the spring and touches the Metal on the car, then the current can be turned off and the potential energy in the spring propels the car forward. the current supplied to electromanget would be minimal with the maximal energy created by the spring, hence it is efficient.

      Good idea, it would make the car move momentarily then stop and return to its original position as the spring rebounds. In the absence of a force external to the car/spring/rod/magnet system, the center of mass of the system is not going anywhere in the long run.

    What if you had a rotating front wheel where the front magnet would be 8 magnets that all face outwards. So it wouldn’t constantly be pulling, it would have a pull and release effect.
    Also, inside of the 8 arms that the circle of magnets are attached to, there would be bearings inside of each arm that would fall forward from centrifugal force as the circle rotates.

    Way back in the late 60s and early 70s when I was in school taking my first electronic class, electrical flow was illustrated using a water hose as the conductor, the water flow as current and the water pressure as voltage. Today physic's knows that electrons do not orbit like a planet but pop in and out of their shell orbit. Question, could you explain electrical flow as you understand it today? And how does wave frequency play a role?

    If the magnet was mounted on a wall then the attractive force would make the car move. As soon as you mount the magner on the car then all forces cancel out and you have no motion.

    Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so for the car to move forward there needs to be a force pushing backwards against the road (like tyres) or air (like a propeller). There is nothing in this diagram to push backward, so of course it cant move

    I made a car for my daughters science homework. All the kids had to make this and I used an ordinary toy car about 8 inches long and put a mouse trap on top of it with a string attached between the metal wire on the mouse trap and the axle of the car. It didn't work very well. But even with no string attached the movement of the mouse trap wire in a semi circle from the front to the back of car, imparted forward velocity to the car. The car should have moved forward as the wire of the mouse trap moved backwards in a semi circle and then the sudden stop of the wire should have imparted the equal backwards motion to the car but it didn't. The car kept moving forward. I could not figure this out. Still can't. Momentum was not conserved. The whole car and mouse trap together were in a stopped state at the beginning and should have been stopped in almost exactly the same location at the end as the mouse trap triggered. The car should have moved forward and then backwards back to the exact same spot. But the car in real life went all the way across the room.
    If you did this in outer space and a weight inside a closed space ship is thrown from one side to the other, the space ship will move a bit in the opposite direction and then stop in s slightly different spot because of the center of mass being moved.

    What's missing here is the explanation that the force of the magnet needs to be equal force to the weight of the truck and occupants plus gravity.

      That's easily achievable when your using a small scaled model that's under one pound in weight. Try it with a several ton vehicle and see how heavy your steel plate and magnet need to be without interfering with outside forces like your cell phone or other vehicles in the road. No one entertains the interference these magnets would have in abundance on the road.

    So what if the design was different to where there was many magnets in a wheel like structure and one half was connected to the axle of whatever wheels would be moving and the other half are connected to clamps that made the magents clamp closer together to apply that force, wouldnt it be able to start moving the wheels due to there being no backforce, so instead of it trying to push or pull the car its just applying directional force to the wheels, if that makes sense

      For every wheel magnet (on the top of the wheel) going toward the big magnet there would be a magnet (on the bottom of the wheel) going away from the big magnet. theres no net gain.

    What if the magnet was propelled itself? Imagine if you will a locomotive in front of a train of railway cars being pulled by a massive magnet. Of course that magnet needs to be powered, but if the power is more efficient than diesel (for example) there would be value there.

      You make an important point that most people miss... Somewhere in the system you MUST have some form of engine producing power, and that power/energy has to come from somewhere, but at the end of the day its the efficiency that's key.

    I have a question about chariot, the horse is pulling forward and the chariot is pulling the horse backwards but its still going forward, I guess it's because both horse and the chariot are on the ground and relative to ground their both moving, right ?

      The horses push forward against the ground creating a net positive force forward. The magnet is not pushing against anything that would create a forward momentum for the system.

      The issue with permanent magnets, I don't care where you put them, is that they act like springs. They aren't a source of energy, they simply store then return energy that they have been given; Meaning you still are going to need something to do work on the vehicle.

    In 9th grade shop class we had to do our own projects. One student made a wooden high speed train on tracks using magnets. You just shoved it and the magnets propelled it along the tracks like a bullet. So yes it worked as long as you gave it a shove. Inthinknitnstoppedna few times but the magnets reeally did propel it. It floated on the tracks.

      @@kirk5649 One was glued on the bottom of the train and another string of magnets glued on the track of opposite polarity. It looked like a high-speed bullet train. And the speed train was held in place by the track.

    What if you attach a trailer to the truck behind the truck. Connect the pole to that trailer instead of connecting it to the truck. Now the pole isn't directly connected to the truck. There should be space for the trailer to move closer to the truck allowing the magnet to move away from the truck OR space for the trailer to move away from the truck allowing the magnet to get closer to the truck.

    The center of mass of the system will remain in rest or uniform motion until an 'external force' is applied. So the magnetic force here, can just ve considered the systems internal force, thus it will remain at rest, right?

      that works because cause youre pushing against the ground. put the car in neutral, sit in the drivers seat, then push forward on the steering wheel... you wont go anywhere.

      one magnet following another magnet in a closed ring- case. the ring case is magnetic on the top and bottom, so the moving magnet consisting of a top and bottom repells it from touching the case while the front and rear magnet parts cause it to travel around the ring and a side facing magnet is directed at a copper coil around the sides of the case... profit?

    Perpetual motion machines don't have to be infinte, if we can harness one for 1000 years that will do. Why can't gravity as a force be transformed to create power?

      Not to be an ass but a perpetual motion machine by definition is infinite.
      To address your real question, we do harness the force of gravity to produce power (ie.hydroelectric dams). The problem which arises is that in order to produce energy you need more than force, you need that force to move something over some distance. In the case of a dam it's water thats pulled downward by gravity, if you go sledding its your mass that gets pulled downward...
      The issue in both cases is that you need some mass to start up very high; and it takes energy to get that mass up high. The nice part about hydroelectric dams is that its the sun that lifts water vapor upward. Unfortunately when sledding however, you have to hike your butt up the hill.

      @INTEGRALPHYSICS i suppose it's impossible to create an infinite machine that will never need a tune up and that will last for infinite years. No materials last forever, even if the concept could produce energy infinitely.
      Thanks, yes I see now some dams use excess energy to pump the water back up also. I guess that's using the force of gravity but not actually containing Gravity itself as a force to be transported and used elsewhere, if you catch my meaning

      The issue is that the magnet is doing two things at the same time. The magnet is trying to pull the car forward AND the magnet is trying to move backwards to the car. If you were holding the magnet instead you would feel the magnet try to drag you to the car. That force ALSO is what's ruining the situation.
      If you put the magnet on a wall that force doesn't go away. The wall us just strong enough to keep the magnet still while the car gets pulled.
      On the pole as pictured, the CAR is getting dragged forward and backwards. Adding more power doesn't matter. So long as the magnet is attached to the car it'll balance.

    Hmm the best way i understand it is ... If the magents on the car and the magnest arm were the same pole.
    Would the car reverse or would the forces push each other and snap the stick in thr middle
    Removes the whole idea of tensile strength holding the magnet in place
    Or just
    With that setup.. if i push the magnet with my finger will the car move ?
    So if that happens why won't the car push itself back
    You already believe it can pull itself

    What if you had a lead car and set this up like a train car system but only used one vehicle to start the others in tow ? Not that it would work for road cars but how about a lightweight train or a rear car repelling pushing it forward

      You either need something stationary to push or pull off of (think a tire pushing against the road or a stationary magnet to propel the car), or you need to shoot something out the back of the car (think a rocket engine).

    You're doing it all wrong dude. The one I saw didn't have a steel plate on the front. There was another magnet with opposite polarity. Total different setup.

    Bro, you're HOLDING the rubberband on one end, smh. Big difference when the opposite end is on WHEELS, lmao. By the way, it DOES work. I don't know how practical it would be with a full size vehicle but I made a tiny wood model car with this magnet setup some time back & placed it on a level surface. Believe me, it works. This guys is reaching too much & you can tell by how he tries to explain it, crutching on Newton's Third Law while ignoring the fact that this idea involves free motion.

      holding the rubber band represents the beam holding onto the magnet, thus the attraction between magnetic force is cancelled by the beam holding them apart. there is no such thing as free motion.
