    So, this chord progression could be written as: i iv i VI v i Have I got that right Maran? Still getting my head around this notation. Love the track you have posted! Thanks.

    This is useful for teaching. However - and I hope you don't mind me pointing this out - the VI chord isn't actually a dominant. It's a major 7th.

    • @MaranGuitarTracks
      @MaranGuitarTracks  Год назад +1

      Thank you for message me. Im sure that its a flat 7th

    • @amziadi
      @amziadi Год назад

      It’s a flat 7th because it’s functioning as a tritone substitution of II7, which is the dominant of V7. You’re thinking major 7th as a substitute of IVMaj7 but that is not what’s going on here.

      @@amziadi Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant that the original recording is a straightforward diatonic VI. I completely understand the tritone substitution used here - it's just that it's wrong!

      @iainguitar ah got you, my bad. You’re probably right then, I don’t recall what the original sounds like at the moment. I will still say I do like the sound of VI7 here since it lets one improvise on II7 leading to V7; maybe a lucky fluke! All the best.
