Why are your subscribers so low? You should be in the top 3! Personally, number one to me. Nothing but facts and you spare the adults listening with the speech about how you don't condone victim shaming. I think most people know that and don't require a lecture. I come to relax and hear someone's story. To hear the facts of the story. I hope they aren't ever forgotten. And you do an amazing job of that. I will be directing people here. These are so well done.

I love how so many people from Oil City (or have at least lived in the area) are commenting and telling us more about what it was like then. Definitely gives a more insider's perspective on the whole thing...hope all is well there now!!

I can promise you that it’s not. Oil City and the surrounding areas have progressively gotten worse and, as a kid in the neighboring town of Franklin at that time, let me just say that we felt the ripple effect of Shauna’s murder for decades.. and we still do. I, for one, am still angry with how this was handled and how poorly her family was treated by the police and the community.

Casefile lately tends to brush over things like these. Later there is a short mentioning of the house of the family not being well kept, and many people going in and out...
It used to be one got a much better idea of how all sorts of people live, without them being judged, very interesting.

That was my first thought as well. How do you let your young daughter walk back home alone through a dark ally at a halloween night, I mean any other night no but worse on a halloween night where people think they have the opportunity to do crazy things. It was absolute negligence on the mother's part.

where do you people get ur facts. Lucy was working and Shauna new to get a ride home from the girl scout leaders. as they did every week. but Joeyel wanted to walk home and she convinced Shauna to walk her as Shauna and I walked all the time. It was a very safe town, we would play hide and go seek and push the limits on staying out till dark. so Lucy did nothing wrong and neither did the girl scout leaders. they would go around at end of the night asking who needs a ride home. so lets put the hate where it belongs, w them three men. But thanks for telling her story, so ppl don't ever forget

I grew up in oil city and went to oil city schools and I remember hearing about this my whole childhood. I was only 1 when this happened but her memory never left this town. Oil city is a small town where nothing bad ever happened so when this happened to Shauna people talked about it for decades. I’m almost 28 now and families still talk that horrible Halloween night. It’s a sad reminder to keep our children close. Saddest thing that’s ever happened in oil city for sure.

Her mother did not forget to pick her up. What happened was that Shauna had a friend from girl scouts, who's mother would frequently drive them home after meetings. That particular week the family was out of town. That's what Shauna's mother forgot . She was informed that her daughter didn't make it home, when she was at work and then remembered that the family was not home that week...not to justify her forgetting, bc I have a 9 year old and if I know his friend's mom was going to be out of town and unable to get him home, I would make plans so that I was there to get him. That's not something a good parent would forget... hence why I never rely on others to take care of my child . Times were different back then. Children used to walk home by themselves all the time without fear of being kidnapped. It's just such an unfortunate circumstance and so sad to find out that that little girl died from the fall from being thrown off the bridge. If the trauma she went through was not enough to cause immediate death ,it's sickening to wonder how long that little girl suffered in pain from her body being broken.... so awful🥺. Especially with it being a supposed "prank gone wrong". Like wtf...

Throw a little girl in a leotard. Yeah, that’s special! Lol. Then, she doesn’t look all night?? She goes to sleep?? I’d be out searching door to door all night.

I know her Mom "Forgot" to set up her ride home
All Blame should ONLY Be placed on the "Psychos" who did this to Shauna. She was only like 5 blocks from home and walked most of the way with another girl her age who did not have a ride either and most likely walked home from Girl Scouts every week. Back Then OC was Considered A Safe & Quiet Town For Children To Walk, Play & Hang Out Especially at 7:30 pm on downtown streets (1/2 of the businesses we used to have were probably still open) and on a main residential road (with churches, The Y, a gas station & doctor office(s) along with homes in the 1st couple of blocks and the other block or two are packed with homes with maybe 5 - 10 ft at the most between them)
We ALL walked everywhere "Even in the evening" At Least We Did Until This Tragedy Happened!
