I think that Corporal Wendy is actually very nice. She might be a bit chunky, but she's quite pretty, especially without her glasses. I'm glad Leckie gave her a good snog.
Probably because Dad's Army has a residual meaning - ie that they are fighting the fascist Nazis, which is why the lefty BBC allows it past the gauleiters of political correctness, plus it suggests that the middle class little Englanders like Mainwaring are pompous Tories, so they have a double whammy there.
@@Lytton333 Spot on, fits the BBC narrative to a tee, aside from the National patriotism, they seem to let that slide, such are the double standards, keep the 'orrible Jerry' thing going at all costs even if it lets a bit of flag waving in, beyond that the language in GSI is too off-limits to the tender litigious modern ears
8.01 & 18.37...The old glass within a glass special effects. When you look at the bottom of the glass there's no liquid as it's all at the side. Glass within a glass makes a lot less to drink.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
It was a different RAF station and he burned the hut down before his transfer so he's at a different station and he wasn't a drill instructor anymore he was a trainee medic
I’m sure RAF rules aren’t dissimilar from USAF rules and he wouldn’t be allowed to live with them and same with taking stuff, especially in training setting.
Leckie and Wendy, the greatest love story this side of the Titanic

She's a right beauty, inside and out. Chunky? That's all muscle I tell ya! XD
She's lovely. Bruce is very lucky.

A good rogerring... Get some in!
I used to watch this show when I was living in Wales in the 1970's.
That boy can certainly put a pint away.
That boy can certainly put away a pint. (Rearranged to put the adverb in its correct place.)
@@SpeccyMan Thank you for your excellent advice.
Why is this never repeated despite endless bloody Dad's Army repeats?
WolvoExPunk1 I don't have forces tv...
Agreed

13:06 I love that they kept Lilley fumbling over his lines in.
16:22 that dancing is so funny LOL
I was of national service age when this first showed on telly. I counted my blessings every time i saw it.
"Hm, that's quite pleasant." What a crack up this Lilly can be.

It's hard to believe that the frumpy Corporal Wendy is the same georgous lady who played Ronnie Corbetts sister in Sorry, Jenny Cryst !

Why wasn't the Corporal staying in his little room in the corner of the barracks, that he did in earlier episodes ?
Lewis72 because he was no longer a Drill instructor and was at a different RAF station so he no longer had a room in the barracks
It was a different RAF station and he burned the hut down before his transfer so he's at a different station and he wasn't a drill instructor anymore he was a trainee medic
He was Bly used it when on duty he stayed in married quarters and then got demoted
It was repeated a couple off years ago

How can the same National Service airmen get the same Corporal during the whole two years of their service ! Total Bullshit !
9:50
Even by RAF standards that marching in the opening credits is pretty crappy
