  • Quick video to show you the latest progress on the railway. I’ve bought some low cost string lights from the internet and have installed them around the railway. It’s not the finished article but it’s a start.
The Washing Line is a 16mm SM32 garden railway which was started during the first UK National lockdown. It’s a budget railway and is constantly being improved. I would love you to join me on the journey by subscribing to the channel.

I like it! And like the way your signage has gone up from ground level too. I’ve had a good day in the garage today with my steam tram loco build. It’s great when progress is visible, and your lights certainly are! Les

Thanks as always Les. Appreciate the support. Glad you’ve had a good day on the steam tram. Sounds like a really enjoyable build. Even something as simple as some lights really added a new dimension to the railway which I am really pleased with.

Keep up the good work :)

I love that you make so much from scratch. It adds uniqueness. I watch lots of model and garden railway videos and you see equipment from the same manufacturers and cottage industry folks. That’s not bad, and people put their own touches on things, but a set up like yours literally looks like no other.

Thank you Terry! Very kind of you. I hope to start uploading more videos again soon. Temporarily lost my ‘spark’ but it will come back I’m sure.

@@joshw6226 it’s sort of like writers block. Well, maybe not the best analogy. Sometimes I leave off an interest for a while. The mind wanders to other things. It will return. I have a lovely small OO fine scale layout I haven’t touched in over two years except to dust it off. One day the live steam and garden trains will drop off and that OO layout will be the rage for a while.

Hope so. I remember a time when I had carriages and a railway, but no loco. It’s boring! :)

@@joshw6226 hmm, but when you start with building a loco, then it seems to be a long way off before getting a working railway! Les

That must be true Les, just think of the day you can get it running round though, it’ll be well worth it.

Hi josh it is looking very nice I was wondering how you power your locos

Hi Matt, many thanks. Locos are all powered using AA batteries. This one uses 8 and is fitted with a Locoremote so I can drive it from my phone. Works pretty well.
