Katara's reunion with her father is such a contrast to Zuko's reunion with his. He spends the whole time telling her how much he missed her and loves her unconditionally, while Ozai makes it clear he's only welcoming Zuko back because of the condition of 'killing' the Avatar.
A couple of things: Aang did die. There are two levels of medical death. Clinical death: Heart stops or you stop breathing-or both. Your brain still has a few minutes of oxygen and nutrients until it starts to die. In real life start CPR!!! In the Avatar world have a master water bender use special spirit water. Biological death: This is brain death. And, it's irreversible. You are worm food. Aang was technically dead from a real world definition. But, his brain was still active because Katara acted quickly to repair enough damage to his body. It still took him weeks to regain consciousness. Yes, they killed a 12 yo kid on Nickelodeon in one of the most violent ways possible. And, it was an another kid that killed him. This was soon after killing Jet. They had balls in those days. Next is a very dark theory. I think Aang was running off to be killed by the Fire Lord or his minions. It was a suicide run. Aang knew he stood no chance of defeating the Fire Lord. He also knew he couldn't count on the Avatar State to take over and finish the job. But, he still has connection to his past lives. If he dies the next Avatar would be in the Water Tribe. They still have the resources to possibly hold off the Fire Nation, raise the next Avatar, get them train and try again in a couple of decades.
@@Hickory958 Why not? All they know is that the comet is coming back. No one has any idea what the Fire Nation will use the comet for. If they fear another big attack it would still gives them the option of hiding all Water Tribe children born around the time of Aang's death. Aang is in a place of despair and hopelessness. He's not thinking clearly. He could easily tell himself the world stands a better chance with the next Avatar.
@@IamnotJohnFord Well, what do they think it's gonna be used for? Roku already said an entire culture was wiped off the planet in season 1. Think, Aang. Think.
Could be wrong but I thought it was much simpler: he died completely so the cycle was stopped and no new avatar was born, then katara brought him back Aka if azula shot him without the avatar state, katara’s water wouldn’t have worked bc a new avatar would’ve been born already
@@therealwelfin If he dies while in the Avatar state then the cycle is broken. But, he has to be completely dead. He wasn't completely dead. That's a weird sentence, but as I posted there are different levels of dead.
End of episode one in season 2, Zuko and Iroh cut their hair. End of episode 1, season 3, Aang (has hair 😂) burns his staff. I don’t know if that’s symbolism, or means something, but as good as this show is, I bet they did do that on purpose!

@@IamnotJohnFord Except, Sozin's comet was gonna come within the year, so that plan makes no sense.
