So here we are! The internet can answer all questions. I had a toy of the Xabungle when I was really little - a cheap little thing that had enough articulation to transform into the vehicle mode, and that was it. I had no idea what it was for the longest time. I feel obligated to watch this series, at some point.
I watched dagwon for exactly the same reason and to be honest, it leaves that feeling of ease when you finish watching the anime of that cool toy you had...
Not Xabungle, but I had a toy from the show Kamen Rider Ryuki when I was VERY young, having finally watched the show as an adult I can safely say I had no regrets doing so, highly recommend watching stuff from your youth, it’s very therapeutic in an odd way
Xabungle was not his recovery lol. this man was unhappy throughout pretty much all of his productions (saying he would cram his frustrations into his works) until his mental health reached its worst stage during the production of Victory Gundam. He would then proceed to take a break from anime. and years later, having recovered from depression thanks to his wife, return to making new works again. said works are yet again pretty reflective of his mental health, and thus feel more personal and especially, refreshingly optimistic (Brain Powerd, Turn A, Overman King Gainer, Zeta Gundam movies, G-Reco)
That as well as a new Super robot wars with Jiron Amos and friends returning. Also maybe a Super robot spirits sequel but with a bigger roster and better graphics.
This anime never air in the Philippines since now. A time when anime was return in 1999. After the Marcos era and those bad Mexico dramas when all anime shows were gone. Thanks to GMA 7 when they return Anime with Voltes 5. Memories
If I was watching TV and say, gurren laganns opening started I would probably just end up changing the channel halfway through it, which would be a mistake. But if this came on it would be like OH SHIT GET ME A NEEDLE I'M GOING TO INJECT THIS.
Never seen this before, but the mecha is pretty sweet. I half-expected the gun at 0:36 to transform into another mech lol. I guess this was pre-Megatron
xabungle:who needs beam sabers?,i have guns out of the ass white base, archangel?,ha! my giant ship is a badass transformer i can slide around dirt and look cool at the same time and best of all...im blue
I knew that music from "Defenders of Space" an old sounth korea bootleg movie by Joseph Lai featuring Inferno from the transformers. XD Then many years later I while playing Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden I found out about Xabungle. I always wanted to watch the anime but never could get my hands on it. (that and Aura Battler Dunbine)
Gurren Lagann spiritual predecessor? Tomino might be a mental wreck but he has shown to be capable of writing either a sad melodrama or a slapstick comedy such like this one and King Gainer.
I'm not talking about the Super Robot genre, I am talking in the context of robot anime made by the same anime studio Gainax. If we were to talk about the original that solidified Super Robot genre as a whole, it would be Mazinger Z rather than Getter Robo. Original poster was not talking about the origin of Super Robot anime, but the predecessor.
Xabungle looks more real robot than anything from the super robot infested realms of the good old 70s. Macross characters looked very 70s too. Another point to consider is the proven fact that Macross was supposed to be released in 1979, but due to problems in its making was released until 1982, what gave the production team more time to refine their designs.
@SMAXZO What? LOL EVA had pretty awesome battle scenes and very stylish looking mecha. Besides, the character designs were years ahead of their time... I watched it around 1997 and was amazed by its quality...
true that...its a real robot anime afterall...but i wasnt refering to the robot designs but the gfx and animation...imo those dont look comparable to macross...look at their rispective intros and still macross looks more like an 80 anime...btw i have nothing against xabungle designs i m just talking about gfx etc...
Well, Kunio Okawara designs for Gundam and Xabungle are more old fashioned while Kazutaka Miyatake designs for Dunbine look more futuristic and alien. Still, Xabungle and Gundam designs are supposed to be more utilitarian, while Dunbine is a super/real robot hybrid from another fantasy magical world... No wonder they look waay different...
I'm here because this was on the liked list of the game grumps channel... For some reason.
LionHeartXII I have a feeling a lot of people are
same
Lol me too
it fucking deserves the views mang
Same
this just screams arin
ZABUNGARU
is that the title?
Rainbow Rackham yes. Zabungle in Japanese is Zabunguru (ザブングル)
ZABUNGURU
Arin, you weeb
This song slaps
I quite enjoyed Xabungle's appearance in Z, with Jiron arguing with Ji Edel about whether he was a main character or just comic relief.
I absolutely love the European schlagery vibe of this intro. Amazing
This is the best secret Tomino show
The opening theme's catchy and the mecha designs look cool!
Love the main mecha.
"What if White Base WAS the Gundam?" the series.
Better know as: ''one of the few anime where Tomino doesn't kill everyone''
@@KajiRider1997 This was Tomino during his 'make weird anime' phase. He went to his 'Kill em All' phase soon after.
Still a good anime. I love it
@@IzumabakumatsuDidn't his "Kill em all" phase technically start with Zambot 3, the direct predecessor of Gundam?
another awesome anime, thanks super robot wars you never fail to introduce me to awesome animee
I agree. Super Robot Wars ftw
The opening theme in SRW Z1/2 never failed to get me hyped, I always watched the animations.

Alexx1083 same here. I had the KO version and almost 30 years later I found out it was based on an anime.
How awesome! My story is the same! I always wondered
what this was from and now i can learn more about it!
I watched dagwon for exactly the same reason and to be honest, it leaves that feeling of ease when you finish watching the anime of that cool toy you had...

9 years later have u watched it?
absolute HEAT
Botun
Xabungle streaming on HIDIVE this month!! YAY!
The quality of the video
Its pure 80s nostalgia!
I refuse to accept that this was made by the same guy who made Space Runaway Ideon.
Ideon was his depression. Xabungle was his recovery.
They have a lot in common, actually, not in terms of mood, but in terms of approach and some common tropes.
Xabungle was not his recovery lol. this man was unhappy throughout pretty much all of his productions (saying he would cram his frustrations into his works) until his mental health reached its worst stage during the production of Victory Gundam.

eh Ideon is definitely comedic in the same way as Xabungle pretty often. It just also is a Tomino show
Don't misjudge 😅 Xabungle is a great anime
Hopefully we'll get a SRW Alpha Gaiden remaster some day.
That as well as a new Super robot wars with Jiron Amos and friends returning. Also maybe a Super robot spirits sequel but with a bigger roster and better graphics.
This is the most Arizona thing ive ever seen. Big robots and pilots with 9mm shooting in the middle of the desert. Heck yes! Im sold!
The Legend The Goat Akira Kushida
una maravilla! adoro esa cancion!
This anime never air in the Philippines since now. A time when anime was return in 1999. After the Marcos era and those bad Mexico dramas when all anime shows were gone. Thanks to GMA 7 when they return Anime with Voltes 5. Memories
I will hope for many a QUALITY moment with this series. The opening song is fucking sweet.
K joyita yo tube ese juguete k buenos tiempos cuando la vida y ser niño era mas sencilla.... Y solo importaba llevar buenas notas a la casa...
What the hell why I haven’t I heard of this? This is the best opening ever
Until you see this of course...- ruclips.net/video/R9OolcoJKpk/видео.html
@Shaman Xeed Oh please you wouldn't know cool if I locked you in the freezer
I really love this animation work.
This theme slaps way too hard
If I was watching TV and say, gurren laganns opening started I would probably just end up changing the channel halfway through it, which would be a mistake. But if this came on it would be like OH SHIT GET ME A NEEDLE I'M GOING TO INJECT THIS.
The Fantom Convoy👑🏆 the show is great but I fucking hate that intro.
Why was this on their liked list?
I have no clue
Possibly inspiration for their new merch design. The retro anime version of themselves
Because Xabungle is fantastic.
Xabungle is AMAZING!!!
Arin loves Mecha anime, and possibly some other staff members do too
This and Brave Police took up my summer this year.
Come here form SRW Z2 WOOOOOOO
I didn’t realize that Rainbow did anime openings
Jiron, goodbye!! I'm happy knowing you!!
Never seen this before, but the mecha is pretty sweet.
I half-expected the gun at 0:36 to transform into another mech lol. I guess this was pre-Megatron
xabungle is xabungle, and gurren lagann is gurren lagann and it pierce the heavens!
xabungle:who needs beam sabers?,i have guns out of the ass
white base, archangel?,ha! my giant ship is a badass transformer
i can slide around dirt and look cool at the same time
and best of all...im blue

Lovelies UNITE for our national anthem!
XABUNGARU! XABUNGARU!
Nice video description lol
You know you're on for a ride when the toddler has a fucking smg
Ahhh.....the fun side of tomino and who doesn't like that....ohh yeah right NO ONE
What are you talking about, bro? I totally want to watch this after watching the ending of Ideon.
I'm here because of the latest One Piece SBS
@BlackAce1229
Are you kidding? Post apocalyptic, desert/western, GIANT ROBOTS... I swear, Americans would have LOVED this.
Gurren Lagann spiritual predecessor?
Tomino might be a mental wreck but he has shown to be capable of writing either a sad melodrama or a slapstick comedy such like this one and King Gainer.
Froggy Wizard cough getter robo....
Gurren Lagann did just take concepts from old Super Robot stuff and then got all the credit from weebs and manlyfags.
Actually that would be GunBuster- it is literally the father great-granddaddy of Gurren Lagann.
IT'S GETTER YOU FUCK
I'm not talking about the Super Robot genre, I am talking in the context of robot anime made by the same anime studio Gainax. Just came here after P Bandai HG announced
Play Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden, and watch the crew of the Iron Gear piss themselves when they see Daitarn 3.
Anyone else think the shots of the main character posing and the others running is like the first Pokemon intro?
あかん!! 懐かしいわ~~~~ サンライズ 最高や~~www
Type "Xabungle ICBM Toss" in RUclips to see what you are missing...
didnt knew a 80's anime animation would be this smooth already
Check out Zeta Gundam’s Opening
There is still time to delete this retarded comment
That's because Japan was in a middle of a huge economic bubble during the 80s.
it's an opening, of course they're gonna spend time and money on the very first part of any episode
You mean, Gurren Lagann reminds you of this.
"Cepung guru... Cepung guru....!"
Somehow, Game Grumps brought me here.
This show is awesome !!!
I had toys from this as a kid and had no idea until just now wheat they were from.
BASED GAME GRUMPS PROMOTING THE CLASSICS?
Avery great anime, in many meanings... it's a shame is it very little know
@SatanBla Xabungle has it`s own show...? I thought Xabungle was only a game for the psx...?
@BlackAce1229 it was suppose to be dubbed along with spt layzner... but sunrise ditched it, and lost their licenses.
I think I used to have toys of this as a kid.
Yo tenia el Robot de juguete por 1988, ni sabia que pertenecía a esta serie.
Always wonder how Jiron pilot that mech using a steering wheel.
And it has a revving engine sound also, because it has a gas pedal....Xabungle is literally a car that transforms...
That flying Xabungle car is just straight up Sixshot's car mode from transformers. I love it.
transformers stole literally everything from older mecha shows than it lol
The only problem is
This show aired even before G1 even existed (1983) and Sixshot not existed till 1987/1988
FINALLY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS SHIT
It's not just me shitposting on /m/
I love how if you look at the last two liked vids on the game grumps channel, it’s pretty clear to see which one arin liked and which dan liked.
RUclips recommendation is weird af
@SaitohYatate It has, actually. I don't think it's finished yet, but it's been moving along.
My husband walks around the house singing this song.
Top 10 anime op ever 😍
Xabungle. Funny name. But I have to admit the intro song is pretty catchy. You don't see that too often today.
and so...xabungle really looks like a 70s anime...
good voice
So.... did i miss something? Why did gamegrumps like this lmao
Check out their Twitter
bc arin’s a weeb
Because its awesome.
@SatanBla I guess I missed it...because they were a lot of mech shows to keep up in those days...
Those first 10 seconds are lit AF
カッチカチだぞ‼

How old is this cartoon O_o I mean it seems like early 80's to me
A Characters Mecha Robot that is
Xabungle
Iron Gear.
Godfrey Ho sent me here. Kidding.
Check out their Twitter guys I think this may have a connection to that stuff
We need to get this guy a bunch of subs because why not
@KeeveSuikoden2Hero Uh yeah it has its own show directed by Tomino.
But they do have a TON of model kits AND Soul of Chogokins (Which also come with Models)
That's how game grumps work
The Grumps are weebs
The name sounds like something egoraptor or Danny sextant come up with
true that...its a real robot anime afterall...but i wasnt refering to the robot designs but the gfx and animation...imo those dont look comparable to macross...look at their rispective intros and still macross looks more like an 80 anime...btw i have nothing against xabungle designs i m just talking about gfx etc...
The Hero, the Companion, the Girl, the Fat boy, the Kid
@SMAXZO Also the Angels were pretty weird and alien looking.... which I loved.
Me and you and Zabunguru, come along and see what's new, we're doing the things weird robots do
JoJo's current opening is the best of of the more recent season hands down!
GUN
OMG i had that red robot when i was a kid O:
@zimchar The Dai-Gurren does look a bit like Iron Gear but.... I don't think they're related
GGs first like...
Have you checked out Godanner, it has openings that really get your blood pumpingu
This one need a remake
Well, Kunio Okawara designs for Gundam and Xabungle are more old fashioned while Kazutaka Miyatake designs for Dunbine look more futuristic and alien.
