This would’ve been great if it was released with the 10th Gen iPad. 😭
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. I’m staying with my 2nd generation. Blessings on your day!
Thank you for the video! I got the pink 10th generation iPad for Christmas and I do a lot of journaling and note taking so your video has educated me on which Apple Pencil 1 or 3 would work best for me. To save me some $ I will be getting the 3rd generation Apple pencil !
Hi Christopher, thank you for the excellent video! I wish I could have watched it before I bought my Apple pencil because I bought the wrong one. Now I understand better which one I should have. Thank you and have a nice day! God Bless you!
The biggest issue is that the 1st Gen Pencil is still available and that will completely confuse the average consumer.
The Apple Pencil 1 gen will be a good marketing for Apple who have old iPads I want to go to iPad drawing
“Hello darkness my old friend. I’ve come talk with you again”. Yep I read your notes just fine. 😁
I’ve always seen the Pro models for iPads more of a professional or artist/art enthusiast thing rather than general use or note taking for students which kinda makes sense to me cause “Pro” could just stand for “Professional” imo.
So iPads like Base, Mini and Air are for general, entertainment, or amateur art hobby use and students along with the USB-C Pencil since the price is also a lot more affordable especially if you get education/student discounts, you save up so much money.
And the iPad Pro along with Apple Pencil Gen 2 is more for people who are working in fields that would benefit a lot from the features these give, or artists that heavily require them since they’d be the ones who would be getting their money’s worth from paying such a high price
I have to say the Apple Pencil second gen is probably the Apple product I use the least. It was handy for taking notes on those chairs with fold out tables at college, before the Magc keyboard got good, but it’s definitely £120 or whatever for something I don’t really need.
I genuinely think the only people that need the Pencil are people into digital art. The different keyboards are better for productivity like you said.
Hello Chris , in Apple Watch Ultra2 , Action button , How can we have "Watch Settings" for quick access .
I use settings most of times , so wanted to keep it for quick access.
THANKS CHRIS 🤗👍😎💚💚💚
Just bought the ipad air 5 for taking notes in coolege, and I'm strongly thinking abt getting this new Pencil. I reckon that I wont need the sensitivity feature just for handwritten notes
I note with Goodnotes and me with everyone I know or see using it uses the ballpoint which doesnt use pressure sens. I draw a lot tho so I went with 2nd gen but just for notes its not needed at all
I just bought a “like new” second gen Apple Pencil because I like it so much, but didn’t want to pay full price. It was like $80 and in my opinion, totally worth it.
I have the pencil 2nd gen. That one would still be better than this USB-C version right?
Yes! Think of that one as Apple Pencil Pro and this new one just as the base Apple Pencil.
Yep 2nd gen has pressure sensitivity and mode switcher that this 3rd new one does not.
Yes! The Apple Pencil 2nd Gen is definitely still better than the Apple Pencil USB-C. You have the double-tap, wireless charging, and pressure sensitivity that this newer pencil doesn’t have. This new Apple Pencil is almost like an Apple Pencil *SE* - most of the important features for less money. (And compatibility with the iPad 10th Generation 😂)
The new Apple Pencil apparently is better for. Lot of reasons lighter it’s USB’s plug into your ipad USBC and automatically connects to your ipad with out going into the settings on your ipad and the new one does not have that annoying double tap feature like the old one it’s really depends on the person i am not an artist want to get the new!!!!
@@cassandrathonus3915The new USB-C one isn’t better than the second generation one, but it’s better than the first generation one. The second gen one has more perks than the USB-C one in my opinion
Great video and awesome shirt
do u think this is better than logitech crayon? they have basically same features but apple one is more expansive
Nice Detailed Review.
Glad you enjoyed it
I bought a Chinese Apple Pencil from Amazon and it works well. I think just like the 80 dollar Apple Pencil. It was $25
I want to use it to make notes. Can it save my notes and can I sort my notes?
Since it doesnt come with pressure sensivity, its a no for me. Better go to an alternative pencil. Thanks for the video.
Do you have any updates on the battery life?
I just bought it today. Well-suited for iPad 10th Gen.
how did you connect it on iPad 10 gen?
I’m completely stuck and at this stage thinking about returning my pen. It won’t connect no matter what I do.
@@oreomonster3054 u need tio update ur os for it to pair
how do u connect it to ipad 10?
Which i should buy for my 10th gen ipad, 1st gen pencil or new usb-c pencil?
hey :) what did you decide on? i have the same issue to decide now 🫠
I just got mines today.
My Apple Pencil 2 still draining a lot even if not attached to the iPad, usb-c solution looks like a cost reduction due to convenience
Plus if you are ok with this solution, there is tons of clones for much cheaper price
It will drain less If you connect it to the iPad and I will charge too
Can you scribble with apple pencil usb c?
I agree with the fact that the usb-c Apple Pencil is the same length as the 2nd gen Apple Pencil when the cap is uncovered
I know
Battery backup ?
What is the note taking app ?
I have just received this pencil with my new iPad Pro 13’” & it does not hold on to the iPad! Apparently the iPad Pro is thinner than others & makes it difficult for it to stick. For me, I have to carry it separately, which is a massive nuisance!
HEI COULD U TELL ME IF THIS PEN WORKS WITH SCRIBBLE? PLS TELL ME
Yeah.. I’m one of those people who turn off double tap because it tends to mess up when I’m drawing
Does the Apple Pencil 2 also go into that “low power mode” while connected magnetically?
That was the one he was talking about wasn’t it?
Does this have tilt sensitivity? If so have you tested it and how does it perform?
Yes it does and it works just like the other Apple Pencils.
I like the new Blink-182 album as well :-) One of their best!!
Right??? I’m loving it! Plus Tom is back!
@@ChrisLawley Tom is my favorite. Angels & Airwaves was amazing in concert.
apple is wild for this lol
Hi Chris, can one Apple Pencil 2 be used on two supported iPads?
Technically yes. You would just need to go through the pairing process when switching iPads.
Wow❤
can this pen connect wirelessly without cables and stuff to the 10th gen? or is it a must to plug in with that cables
A cable is required to pair this to any iPad,but any USB to USB cable will work. If you only have 1 iPad you'll only need to pair it once
I want to buy this, but my iPad (8th gen) is not in the compatibility list. I’m wondering if it’ll charge with lightning to USB-C cable. I’m also wondering if it’ll even work/write with it.
That’s interesting
Is magnetic storage on iPad 10 generation is as strong as on other higher iPads ?
Or the magnets on 10 gen holds the pencil little weak
Yeah they have magnets and they are just as strong as the other iPads.
@@ChrisLawley thank you for your confirmation
I think t this is good for the iPad 10th generation, because since they have the Apple Pencil first generation, and they don’t have have lightning connector on the iPad 10th generation it will be better and it came magnetically connect to the iPad
Apple Pencil SE 😊
Anthem Part 3 💯
So good!!
Skateboard pro vs. Darkpad - this comment is aimed at fellow viewers since I know Chris is not an artist - what is better or is there a better Ipad holder for art out there?
Sketchboard - not skateboard - autocorrect failure.
Definitely go with the skateboard, I want to see an iPad do a kickflip.
Which editing app you use on your iPad?
Final Cut
@@ChrisLawleywhy not semi Final Cut ?
I have a ninth generation iPad so with the lighting port, if I were to buy an Apple Pencil USB-C can I connect it to the iPad using the iPad charger cable? the cable has 2 ports, a lighting (which goes into the ipad) and a usb-c (the one that goes directly into the charger). If I were to use that cable would I have any problems or incompatibilities between the pen and the iPad?
So I looked on Apple website and the 9th iPad doesn’t not support this
Does the Apple Pencil usbc work when Bluetooth is turned off?
Yes
I'm trying to connect mine and it won't connect, even with the cord
Fixed it?
They can replace pressure feature with delay
That’s not how it works.
@@ChrisLawley why I think in this because I use iphone 8Plus with 3D Touch feature after they cancel the hardware in next phones they use time delay and call it Haptic Touch
Isn't this sort of a step backwards???? using a cable to pair and charge rather than just sticking it to the edge of the iPad????
This doesn’t replace that Apple Pencil. This Apple Pencil is about hitting a price point. Also the 10th generation iPad doesn’t have the wireless charging tech in it because that’s where the front facing camera is.
Since I already got an Apple Pencil 2nd gen. last year, I'm not going to buy an Apple Pencil with USB-C port.
mine isn’t paring w my ipad😭😭 ima cry i already connected a usbc cable w the two already
Try and go to Bluetooth settings while it connected
@@robertwho50 ngl i just started double tapping my ipad w it n it connects
According to Apple, the Pencil of any version shouldn’t be left charging unless it needs to be charged, and when no in use it should be unpaired and set off to the side… :O
the 2nd gen is fine to leave charging on the side of the ipad, what apple means with what you said is when you want to put the apple pencil in storage and not use it for a long time, you need to unpair it so the battery doesnt just drain and degrade.
@@TropicalCyc lithium-ion batteries do not like to be under charge above 80% for any period of time. Hence this recommendation.
@@ThomasEJohnson this is the reason why I like what samsung wacom, huion, and other drawing pen brands are doing with their pens. They run way better, have more pressure levels, side buttons, and doesnt even need a battery to do it. it uses the pen digitizer on the screen itself to power up the pen theough the magnetic coils on the end of the pen.
On samsung, the batteries they use arent even batteries. They use capacitors which dont degrade over time, and is not even necessary for the use of the pen. they only use it for the bluetooth features like wireless and the "magic wand" types of features, which are so useful especially for camera control.
It confuses me why apple isnt innovating their tech to stop using li-po style batteries in their pens, they clearly have the patents and tech to do it.
@@TropicalCyc they just waiting because not even people are complaining
I’m using usb c Apple Pencil now
I'm an illustrator and I'm broke so I have the iPad 10 instead cuz it's more affordable for a high school junior student lol
idk man if i wanted a pencil with no pressure sensitivity, i’d just buy a $20 one from amazon lol
Literally. I don’t get why this exists.
Is it magnetic even on iPad 10?
Yes
🤩 FINALLYYYYY!
Trueue facts
✌🏾✌🏾💯
I have the ipad 10th gen and there is no way I am getting the usb c one
If you want an Apple Pencil for the 10th gen iPad then get this new one because you won’t need a stupid ass dongle
@@RankyTevthe usb c pencil is a direct downgrade from the 1st gen, do not buy the usb-c apple pencil please.
Needing to have a cable for charging and pairing is HUGE mistake, because it’s gonna be ALWAYS dead. Even 1gen you can plug directly.
No the cap in Apple Pencil 1 is so small you will lose it and the lightening connecte will breake
@@Rajitsworld2408 it won’t brake. I’ve used plenty of pencils 1 and 2
Wireless charging pencil burns the material it’s made off so I would rather use the usb c one
This is not true at all. I’ve had the same Apple Pencil since 2018 and it looks perfect.
@@ChrisLawley mate I’m talking about new ones 2nd gen didn’t come out in 2018
I knw there a guy at my work place had new one for like 2 months and it’s burn from some parts
I would rather spend few extra money and get the apple pencil 2nd gen and work without any headaches.
Its so wiered charging . Wonder what apple thinks making these wiered charging pencil. 🤣
😢
Apple pencil 2 >> Apple pencil 1 > Apple pencil USB C
another apple BS😂
