I guess it's all about personal taste. I felt that way about all Kerby's books before this one, love them, but some pages were just not my cup of tea. But this one I find absolutely perfect. I'm super excited about every single page.

I watched a flip through of this about a month ago and canceled my pre-order with book depository! I didn’t find one page that I would be interested in coloring. It reminded me of a child’s coloring book. After watching your flip through there might’ve been a few pages I would’ve colored but really this one didn’t appealed to me at all and I was disappointed because I thought it could’ve been so cool.

I’m a huge fan of surrealism, that being said, a lot of the books feels disjointed to me.

I know what you mean about the book. I was telling Lucy Just Adds Colour that I felt like the book may have been rushed to meet a deadline (i.e., the ‘filler pages’ and the pages that looked similar to illustrations from his other books). Now granted, I can’t draw a stick figure - but I agree with you… Kerby is better than this book. 🤷🏻♀️

Looking forward to your two weeks with kerby. He is an artist that I do auto buy but it is more for collection purposes. I liked about half the pages in the book. I can definitely see where he went back to his older style. I pulled out mythomorphia and compared some of the line work to that book, and it is somewhat more doodlesque, Ha..not sure that's an actual word, but it is now! TFS!

Thanks Shannon for doing a flip of this book. I did not pre order it, so glad that I didn’t. I think it’s kind of repetitive. I’m not a fan of the filler pages either. I like his previous releases much better, and I have enough of those to keep me happy!
Ty for the flip. Seeing a 2nd time and after seeing a page completed by another colorist, and even seeing some good pages, it's not enough of a push for me to get it. It's not really my cup o tea. Yr right too many planet filler pages, and I was expecting something more for a possible last book. Maybe he was rushed to finish it (?) 🤔 💗
i agree ,i am back and forward with this book .some pages are really great and amazing others are indeed fillers and rushed. and i don t like all of his animal type creations in this book . they feel a bit fake and under his very high standard of drawing . maybe i just need to see someone doing some coloouring magic on some pages but i am in doubt with this one .
If this is his last book, he sure went out with a wimper.

I actually prefer all the planet pages lol I’m safe for colour palettes for those ones.
What I don’t like is I know kerbys books are always “busy” but this kind of “busy” is a level of busy I don’t know where to start with colouring and colour palettes 😂 I do have the book and I’d say I will only colour about 5/6 of the pages

I know this is an old video, but I agree, I'm not a fan of this one. Sci-fi isn't really my cup of tea anyways, but I genuinely can see some of these pages being really cool, but a lot of them...a lot of them were kind of lack luster to me when I first saw them. I hate the planet pages, there are too many of them and I'm not a fan of giant open spaces like that tbh, it annoys me and I don't like coloring them in at all. Planets are also not something I personally like to color. I've seen some really cool finished pages from this book but this one might just be a pass for me, unfortunately. I like a lot of his other books better anyway.
I guess I was expecting more gross stuff like in Myth. I can see what you mean by filler ages.
For me the space scenes are refreshing compared to the gross aliens haha. Some great pics but some not my cup of tea.
I think the filler pages as you put it are because they are aliens and worlds so the empty space is sky or like the universe for you to color. That’s the way I see it as you flipped thru the book anyway, but what do I know! 🤣😂. I don’t do Kerby! Thank you for the flip thru and I don’t think you were to critical.. ❤️🥰
Got mine yesterday and love it. Love hearing what other people think about things i happen to like What a boring world we would have if everyone liked the same things. A lot of people love Johanna Basford and I couldn't care less.... or the Matchstick Mouse or Teresa Goodridge or colour by number books.
Shannon, I am not a space and alien person, I wouldn't even know how to color these images! I agree with you and others here who said this book was rushed, which is a darn shame. I cancelled my pre-ordered because I had a feeling. Thank you so much for your, always honest opinion!🥰
There are some really cool pages in there… buuut… I agree with you on the “filler pages” kinda felt rushed a little. Some artists we just expect more from. Thanks so much for the flip through and sharing your opinion!💖

Well I being a Kerby lover. About 1/3 of the pages are ok. The pages that are side by side and not a spread; I feel they need a border or something to give them a “wow” factor. They just run into each other. I also agree with you in regards that I expected more. Kerby is such a talented and imaginative artist, this is subpar imo! Thanks for your honest review. I am interested to see how the paper performs 😳

I have to say the more flip throughs I watch the more I don’t like this book. It could have been so much more and I think it’s a complete miss. I feel like he was just wanting to take a break and just put whatever out there so he could get on with it. Idk that’s just my opinion and you know what they say about them lol! Thanks for sharing!

This book is also my least favorite of Kerby’s coloring books! Not a fan of this one at all! I did buy it but doubt that I will color in it, I probably will give it away! 🥰🫣👎🏼
From the flip through, I'm very disappointed by all the double page spreads he likes to do, so I don't think I'm buying this book
