I use Dawn Patrol for some while now and mine have paddle distance. But mostly I use same reason as you do to see my heart rate data.
Also to mention I have paid version 20$ per year to support grate app is not much.

I'll have to mess with the app again, as I actually haven't used it since this was filmed (in april). Stoked to hear that distance paddled is an optional metric. yeah, 20$ for a good app, totally worth it. I'll aim to grab it once I"m back in Indo next year and doing a lot of surfing again.

sounds like premium is the way to go then. I think paddle distance is a pretty cool metric
