Orca, our 1947 Chris-Craft Model 47-28 S-25-088 Sportsman, has blown through all her structural milestones.
While many challenged us for attempting the impossible, we saved all her original framing, save for her aft deck planking and both her transom frames and planking.
Every hullside plank was released for cleaning and inspecting. All but a couple short planks have been saved. Each of them was thoroughly cleaned, sanded fair, and sealed with Smith’s CPES.
We then applied three coats of Sandusky Paint Company Chris-Craft mahogany bilge paint and re-stacked them from the gunwales down, bedded in TotalBoat Thixo Flex Adhesive.
Hours of flat-sanding followed plugging the countersinks. We used 80 grit and our Hutchins longboard sanders to avoid cross-grain scratches.
Finally, she was ready for staining with Mike Mayer’s Post-War Chris-Craft J’eld stain.
Once the stain had cured, we sealed the entire surface with Pettit EZ WoodSealer 2018, following a practice followed by Mike Green in Michigan.
Then varnishing began using Pettit Flagship High Build Varnish 2015 began. Take a guess how long it takes one of us to apply one coat on the entire hull. Yep, north of two hours!
All the while, our super upholsterer spirited out enough hides stained to exactly match Orca's original leather upholstery. Gail is hard at covering all her seating and other details, ensuring that Orca will present precisely as she did when she emerged from Algonac in 1947.

Have been watching through your old videos. Did the 46’ Garwood Ensign ever get finished?

Yes, almost a decade ago, and she's won every show she's been entered in.

Glad to hear it! Was a fun project to follow along, learned a lot from that one alone. Thank you for taking the time to film and share.

Sorry. There are hundreds of models, LOA's and years, and thousands of differences in originality, condition, and on and on.
My guess is that the market values range from $2,000 through $150,000 and far, far beyond. No, guessing at an "average" price would be an exercise in pure fiction.

Looks like you didn't. Use cc filler stain that was original and smoothed out the grainy mahogany. Why?

Wow! How little y99u know .... please visit: snakemountainboatworks.com/vintage-boat-preservation-how-to/varnish-to-die-for-snow-fields-buffing-polishing/
      Or here: V==www.loboat.com/products-supplies
Actually, there is no such thing as CC stain. Interux along with a myriad of others create stain products, a few of which they add the Chris-Craft name, but not the logo to.
Here is what you get if you Google Chris-Craft filler stain: www.google.com/search?q=chris-craft+fiiler+stain&sca_esv=eea1aa0a97eb1fc4&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS947US947&ei=lzRNZrfRFN3i5NoPq7SXqAI&ved=0ahUKEwj3-Oj9-J-GAxVdMVkFHSvaBSUQ4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=chris-craft+fiiler+stain&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiGGNocmlzLWNyYWZ0IGZpaWxlciBzdGFpbjIIEAAYgAQYogQyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiiBBiJBTIIEAAYgAQYogRIriNQog9YzRZwAXgAkAEAmAFvoAHMAaoBAzEuMbgBA8gBAPgBAZgCA6AC2QHCAgsQABiABBiwAxiiBMICCxAAGLADGKIEGIkFmAMAiAYBkAYEkgcDMi4xoAfuBw&sclient=gws-wiz-serp
Please study and learn before you sound off. Also, please listen to our videos and read our write-up. Had you done so on this one, you would realize that ORCA's adventures with varnish have barely just begun.

You have that right for sure! Her hull is sort of a mahogany U22, albeit on steroids. Rolling her over was simply way too much fun: ruclips.net/video/WTEMj9BJZPA/видео.htmlfeature=shared. Thank goodness for the two winches!
