Musang King durians have very stable taste, small seeds, when planted at different places. No need to buy the big ones which are expensive per kg. Buy the small ones, much cheaper per kg and equally of good taste. When buying durian, most importantly is the durian must be fresh, eaten within 18 hours after fallen from tree. Once fallen from tree, durians should be kept / transported away from direct sunlight ( under hot sunlight ), durian flesh starts to ferment, taste will gradually change from sweet to acidic and alcoholic, texture will gradually become less creamy ( decomposing ), smell will change from sweet to stink. Check stalk is fresh and not shrinked, skin and thorns are normal and green. Durian which is ripe will dehydrate fast ( if packed inside a plastic bag, much water vapour seen within hours ) and skin will dry out then shrink to break open. Avoid buying tray-packed durian without seeing the freshness of durian stalk, skin firmness and colour.
My advice to my Chinese comrades. If you first time eating durians, don't go for expensive durians as you will not able to differentiate the quality of durians. As durians consider heat fruit, don't drink beer or acholic drinks.

马来西亚的注册榴莲种类多达上百种,全部用D1-D200来编号,有些品种有名字,有些除了代号则没有名字。 面对榴莲市场上琳琅满目的品种,其实“基本无法仅靠外观来准确判断具体榴莲品种”,要鉴别具体的种类需要靠看、闻、吃结合,通过外壳、刺尖、形状、肉色、气味、价格等因素来判断。
