I've had this light for several months to a year now. The first week I had it a motorist pulled up next to me pointed at the back of his head and gave me a huge thumbs up I'd say it was endorsed on that day and that was in Broad daylight! Great review, I just installed the Brake Free a couple days ago. I agree with your review 100%. The power button gets easier over time is what I have seen/read. The unit is not as big as it looks in the photos and videos.
This would be even better if you had a choice of colors for park light setting. We use a similar product for night riding on snowmobiles. When we pull up to busy intersections in the dark we identify each other in the group by the different colors that we have on the back. The brake light could still be red. Food for thought.
It seems to work well but I noticed in the hard braking part of the test it only blinks 3 times. It should continue for bit after the braking, 3 blinks is hardly enough for the tailgater to catch on. Seems legit so maybe I’ll pick one up. Hopefully they work on the emergency braking part a bit.
I have one and had the same problem about difficulty of pressing the button to turn it on and off. Then I accidentally discovered that you don't have to use the button to turn it on and off. If you take off the helmet and set it down, the brakefree light will turn off after a short time. Likewise, when you pick up the helmet it will come back on in the mode it was when it went off. Even the brakefree company does not mention this in their instructions.
Yes, after using it for a year I noticed this as well! But, mine doesn't do that all of the time. If I'm stopping somewhere real quick I'll just leave it on. Good catch!

I'd rather spend a little more and get one that has a transceiver, which connects to the bike. So when you brake, it lights. When you turn left or right, it lights up on the left or right. The Brakefree lights up sporadically when riding even if youre not braking, which will confuse drivers behind you...doesn't seem very safe.

I have to say this is an awesome idea but I'm also trying to see this from the perspective of someone behind me. If I were behind a motorcycle and I see the helmet light coming on but not the brake lights on the bike, I'm going to be kind of confused. If you roll off the throttle or engine brake, the helmet light will come on but the bike lights won't. Wouldn't that be confusing for people who are behind me? Am I going to have to modify how I ride to always include just enough front or back brake any time I slow down so that all my brake lights come on? I don't know. I'm torn. I love the idea but I'm afraid it will confuse people.
I see your point. In my opinion, anything that provides more visibility is a great addition. You could tap your brakes if you're worried about confusing the driver behind you. It doesn’t have anything to do with your turn signal switch. There’s no way for the light to do that. It uses a sensor that senses when you’re slowing down.
Non-stop from Ohio to Daytona. What size tank do you have on your bike? Heck, how large is your bladder?!?! ( Yes, I know - just another RUclips affectation for theater of the mind) okay - anyways That's a pretty cool light. I've seen it before but had the impression it was a gimmick. Seems to be legit! At $170 bucks, you can definitely ascertain that Shark Tank money was involved.
I see what you did there 😂 Yes, I can understand why you thought it may be a gimmick. I kinda thought it was too good to be true as well. I was happily surprised. This thing was actually on shark tank, and they loved it. I'm happy I gave this a shot. Thanks for your feedback!
I’m getting a small bike, would the brake light still work with me going around 35-50 mph? Does it matter what speed I go on the bike then stop? I’m also a first time rider
Doesn't matter the size of the bike. In fact you can pretty much be on anything like a bicycle, skateboard, or scooter and it will work. The speed also doesn't matter. As soon as it senses you're slowing down, it will illuminate.

It doesn’t have anything to do with your turn signal switch. There’s no way for the light to do that. It uses a sensor that senses when you’re slowing down.
Non-stop from Ohio to Daytona. What size tank do you have on your bike? Heck, how large is your bladder?!?!
( Yes, I know - just another RUclips affectation for theater of the mind)
okay - anyways
That's a pretty cool light.
@@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures Okay cool, thank you for the information.
@@Prxdlxst no problem at all!
@@JoeGoeMotorcycleAdventures So update. I just put the payment on my bike and I haven’t taken any courses. My bike will be here Tuesday. I’m so excited to finally unload it off that delivery truck and look at it in person.
@@Prxdlxst awesome! That's exciting!
I have two of them! Initially because I rode in both Ohio and California but now only in California. I love the product. If I forget to turn it on I stop somewhere safe and turn it on. The switch although advertised to be glove-friendly it is almost finger-unfriendly! A pain! Otherwise a fantastic product to enhance the rider safety!
I love mine too. They have updated the button to be easier to press. I don’t have one of those units, but I’m glad they fixed it. Thanks for watching!
Did they update to usb C?
That should be being released real soon!
Wish it would show left and right turn signal on the LEDS.
That would definitely be cool. But that would mean it needs some type of module to connect to your bike.
i was lookin at just throwing a guardian angel device on my backpack but this is cool too
It is absolutely awesome. I highly suggest going with this. It's a quality product! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the review. Could you please state whether you paid for this product with your own money or if it was provided by the manufacturer? Thank you.
No problem at all! BrakeFree sent me the product. However, they didn’t pay me to make the video. They wanted me to do an honest review. Other than the stiff power button that is hard to press, the light is awesome. BrakeFree told me that they resolved the issue.

Thank you! I'm going to grab a couple of these.
@@bar9666 nice! You’re going to love them! Be sure to use my promo code JOEGOE10 to save a couple bucks. Let me know how you like them once you receive them!
solid review, wanna buy one now.
Thank you! You won’t regret your purchase, I promise!
Can't press the button with gloves on . I can't take a leak with my gloves on so I take one off . Problem solved ! The new ones have solved this problem , larger button !
@@larrymickey3419 yes! I’m glad the new version has solved the button problem! It was a minor problem, but didn’t change how awesome the light is!
This is cool, I ride at night and I started putting a flashing LED on my pack to get peoples attention.
This is perfect for night riding. Definitely makes you more visible!
I've been looking into this, but what about installation on helmets that have a visor with a strap?
You can go to Brake Free's website and they have a list of compatible helmets. Hope this helps!
Why would a visor have a strap? Which helmet is this?
@@JBK647 It's the Knox Maska visor for Biltwell helmet. Sold separately from helmet.
You are rolling off the what?? Where the heck are you from??
Rolling off the throttle. I’m out in Ohio.
This products saves lives from Asian drivers 👍
Yooooo! When’s your next live?!
April 4th @ 7pm EST!
Cool product 👍 one kit piece to distract people from their phones 🤓
I love it. People need to stay off their phones! Appreciate you watching.
Shiiii does it have turn signals features
It doesn’t. That would require a module hard wired to the bike. That’s what’s nice about this light, you just slap it on your helmet and go!
My Motorcycle Insurance company gave me a discount for having a helmet brake light
That's awesome! Good to know!
Imagine your helmet is being robbed the robber gets the bonus of this one.
When i am leaving my helmet somewhere that can potentially be stolen, I take the light off and my cardo.
it's a cute product but not for that price
Worth every penny if you ask me. I don't ever ride without it!

Great product, too expensive!
Add 1/2 a pound to my helmet? No way.
@@stoggy4839 it’s really not noticeable. I did an iron butt (1k miles in under 24hrs) and it didn’t affect me.
I put this on my helmet will just encourage people to steal the helmet when I am in having a meal.
I’m I’m not on my Road Glide (I put my helmet in the tourpack) I’ll take it off and throw it in my saddlebag. I’ll also take my Cardo off. Super quick and easy to take off and put back on, one of the many reasons why I love it!
