I was in one of these and we hit a giant black bear while we were going 85mph (by accident lol). Truck was totaled but we were fine. Respect for saving my life and leaving unscathed hahah.
A new feature, they added to the truck bed that the older models didn’t have is a light switch in the bed. So you don’t have to go into the car to turn on the bed lights
I have the dual clutch in my 2023 Santa Fe limited and I bought the car new, sitting at 60k miles now. My transmission has been great! The only problem I’ve had isn’t with the car, it’s with the dealers. The manual says that the DCT fluid should be changed at around 56k I believe and not one dealer has any idea what I’m talking about. It really doesn’t inspire confidence. It’s 3 quarts of 75w fluid (you can get it on genracer for like $25 a quart). One dealer wanted $300 just for the fluid after they put me on hold for 15 mins. I would just change it myself but I don’t want to void my warranty.
Always was a big fan of the styling on these. Subaru is leaving money on the table by not making a competitor based on the Crosstrek or something. Great review as always!
Sporty looking little truck and for what most people use trucks for seems more than capable. Reminds me of the old Subaru Brat. Most people probably too young to remember that.
Hyundai seems to have done a pretty good job with this little truck. Above 35k however, it looses its most attractive quality which is affordability. At 40k and above, if you need a truck, there are more capable options imo. Nice review Matt
My wife has a '24 Tuscan Limited and it is a really nice ride and upscale feeling. I recently test drove the 2024 Maverick Lariat and it felt like an $18K economy vehicle with a couple of niceties (seat and steering wheel warmers and leather) - it absolutely did not feel like the $40K the dealership was looking for. The B&O audio was also a huge step down from my wife's Bose in her Tuscan. I been looking around to find a dealership that has a '25 Santa Cruz XRT, so that I could test drive one.
I've been wondering how these have been doing sales wise. They seem like nice little trucks. A hybrid option would be cool. Or a fully eletric version.
I took my 24 sel in to the dealership where i bought it for it's first oil change thos last Monday 1 13 25, they lone me 25 limited with the turbo, very 😂 nice enjoyed it
Funny that this has the same problem as my Mach-E that drives me nuts...2 screens and it can't show artist and title anywhere except if youre on the main SiriusXM screen. I hadnt seen this issue in any other vehicle, nice to know my car isnt the only one that's botched this simple feature that's been in almost every other car for a decade. I send voice feedback through the Mach-E weekly about this.
@@xaionik i think that new Santa Fe redesign is ugly as hell. Not to mention nobody asked for them to make that a 3 row. However yes, they do need to add a foot to this bed.
Having owned a '23 Limited now for 40k miles, I can personally attest to the built-in tonneau being more of a hinderance than help. It takes up a massive amount of space in the already small bed, and the rollout function is continuously getting bogged down by dirt and grime getting in the plastic tracks. Having said that, really hoping there is an electrified version in the next year or two. Preferably full EV.
If you have to put a wrench type design on the wheels you know it's not a truck, lol. That being said, I'd still buy a Maverick for it's generic design.
Nope. Not a real truck. [Full Stop] In fact, my neighbor has one of these models. He accidently backed into my other neighbor's trash can causing his rear bumper to simply fall off. The impact had to be less than five miles per hour. No, this is definitely not a truck. Stay classy my friends.

How was the bear though
That’s crazy!
How crap. Where was this?????
@@nah5012 crazy enough the bear lived long enough to run away into the woods. I’m sure it didn’t live long though.

We bought a 22 SEL Premium brand new, over 50k miles now and love it!
Thanks for sharing your ownership experience!

My 2025 Santa Cruz XRT is a month old today. I've put about 2,000 miles on it because I love to drive it.
Another great video and quality content Matt. Thank you for keeping the reviews fun and informative.
Thanks for watching Eddie!
They really should offer a hybrid version, just take it off the Tucson already!
I am looking forward to the Maverick Lobo review
Thanks Matt. Like you I wish they had the hybrid powertrain available.
Car and Driver tested one of these. The 2.5T AWD...18 overall mpg, but 39 on the highway cruise test
@@bobdavis3357 You mean 29 mpg
Great review and insightful comparison of the Santa Cruz vs. the Maverick.

@@im_an_alvani a Baja revival would be killer!
One extra off-road thing on the 2025 SANTA CRUZ versus the older models. The approach angle on the 2025 XRT is 19.9° versus 17.5°

Ill never buy the Santa Cruz, but good to learn about.

surprised its not a hybrid
Storm-trooper-ish

love the look i just wish there was an N version
Not a bad option at all for an all around vehicle
I would love on with a manual transmission

Needs a redesign. They could really take the wind out of Ford's Maverick sales with an extra foot of bed and boxier lines. Like the new Santa Fe.

@@michaelmango9058I was just in Santa, Fe New Mexico and saw a unusually large amount of those on the road. Kinda hilarious.
The back seats for asians are pretty good lol I’m Asian lol😊
jesus terrible mpg why not just buy a truck
100% agree. At that mpg and price just buy a proper midsize truck
Fake off road trim on a fake truck. PASS
One of those looks good but there's a reason full size sales are all dominant rather than these sub compacts

That truck bed is a joke.
Looks like a polished turd
Your comment is what’s a turd
its a so long as you're happy kind of car
No Hybrid, No sale.
Lol
I’d avoid the DCT. The non turbo model is the way to go
does it have a full frame, no, nope
Basically a SUV cargo that isnt enclosed. Pointless IMO either get a truck or get a SUV.
I can't fit into one. I'm far too tall and far tobroad shouldered. However, my woman liked it.

Buying a Hyundai is flushing your money down the toilet.
They are so unreliable and expensive to fix. Soooo many things NOT covered by warranty.
