Honestly if there is to be a largely on rails focused Star Fox game, your concept is the best way to do it. It explains the repeat runs within the plot, incentivizes improving skill, and offers much needed variety with play style.
With Falco you might be able to also further diversify his runs via a more advanced walker transformation than Fox's, one that continues his distinct pattern of being much faster in movement and capable of the kind of sniper aiming that's required for the sections he goes into. Thus you really have varying gameplay types within SF without completely changing the genre:
    -Fox doing the traditional route
-Speedy movement alongside precise elimination of enemies with Falco
-Slower paced puzzle solving/area exploration with Slippy
-Maximizing damage to enemies/bases with Peppy while under barrage
-Katt utilizing stealth and imitation of the enemy for infiltration
    You've really got something here.

MerelyAFan THE WALKER, ah I completely didn’t consider that to go with Falco’s moveset run, that makes perfect sense and thus each vehicle type from the series is used! Brilliant!
Thanks very much for the kind words! Appreciate it a lot :)

@@OrangeJuiceJaz No problem, as I said, this is a great lay out for a potential SF game, and this kind of single player content on top of couch/online multiplayer would be a game that could please a hell of a lot people.

MerelyAFan yeah that’s sort of all the things I’ve been waiting for in a new game for a while. I know there is a lot you could do with a battle mode online if they invested time into making good maps and PVP but I thought against including that in the video

God I really would love it if Nintendo allowed for Starfox to be an Anime or just a cartoon series! It’s sucks knowing how good that animated Short was, and yet that was All that Nintendo decided to do with Starfox!

I know right? It was unnecessarily good. Nintendo are happy to whore Mario out to the god damn Minions people, yet Star Fox doesn't get the treatment it deserves.

There’s so much that this series can do, Nintendo just doesn’t see that. The Game was built from the Early stages to be about Slowly Building up innovative Gameplay! The thing is, Starfox was Meant to have a Story! Especially in small narratives that fit its Space-Traveling Universe!
I just think that Miyamoto and Nintendo are too Hung up on rehashing old conflicts (just with a fresh coat of paint every once in a while).
This is why I like SF Assault so much, cause Andross wasn’t shoved into the plot so damn much.

As a side note. Having Krystal come back into the series would be a plus. As her inclusion was what made the series all the better since she was an accepted member of the Team.

@@danielramsey6141 Well Miyamoto famously only cares about gameplay and mechanics, choosing to make a story and plot the last thing put into the game. So when the gameplay elements don't gel perfectly it is noticeable. I agree more could be done with the star fox world for story, but I personally think someone like Retro studios should handle it.

I say this to every "Star Fox future" video but I can see Star Fox succeed in 3 routes as either a real time strategy game like Star Fox 2 or command, an action rogue squadron game like Assault, or an open galaxy game like Starlink, with the arcade on rail shooter type of lylat wars to be a secondary mode or game since that style of SF hasn't been helping when it's the main thing. I expect a game called Star Fox Mercenaries to be more in line with Assault, where they do a variety of missions in and out of their Arwings. For the roster how about they bring back Krystal, Miyu and Fay since they've been on the team in different games, and Katt's been more independent, works alone but sometimes helps out.

I did toy around with the Idea of more of an open space style game, but I felt the controls of something like Star link are quite different from Traditional star fox. Though I could totally see a game with open space and Assault style segments being how they push the series forward for sure. I think Zero was heavily impacted by poor Wii U sales and Poor Reviews, so I think there still could be a market for on rails shooters, but the formula would quickly become quite tired without something new.
Most of the reason I didn't lean more towards Command or Assault style gameplay is that I either don't remember them very well or didn't enjoy them enough, certainly biased since I grew up with Lylat wars! Never Played Star link either but have heard good things about it and especially the Star Fox DLC.

@@OrangeJuiceJaz Regarding Zero, another thing that could've been impacted on that game was the 3d remake which was already a remake and Zero doing that again as a reimaging with new vehicles, the gamepad and controls, and set pieces.
In 2020, I could see the arcade on rail shooter style with Star Fox on it as a supporter, sister game kind of like how top down Zelda and Side scrolling Mario are supporters to their mainline 3d outings. Not as the main thing anymore, considering how most arcade on rail shooters I see are either $20-$30 e shop games, indie titles, or mobile phone games which all have a price point in mind for them.

Franco Peralta sure Lylat Wars 3D came out a similar time, potentially, we will never know how much Zero would have sold if it was a “wholly original” story.
I could see that, I have been saying for a while there are 3 types of Zelda now, Top Down, 3D and Open Air. I can see Star Fox having a similar thing if a studio tries something with it. Would like to see an indie studio take the reigns

    • @francoperalta5986
      @francoperalta5986 4 года назад +1

@@OrangeJuiceJaz Yeah we don't, I know I would've been more receptive to Zero if they didn't already attempt a retake on the lylat wars with the 3d remake, though that or maybe a retake of a different title might be a good idea for a next step.
It would be nice if Star Fox found it's own dedicated development studio and the series stops being passed around between 3rd party companies. Though I don't mind them helping.
Regarding Zelda sure, except the 3d and open air are generally from the same group and realm, it's just that some elements of those games were prioritized over others in Breath of the Wild. Same with the original Zelda and it's followers.
PS. There is an indie studio working on an onrail arcade shooter.
