The last team to run an honest to god flexbone in college, it’s been so sad to watch GT and now Navy and Army shed it. It’s my favorite style of football since I was a kid.
Thank you so much coach, great work! I have a general triple question: when a player takes the QB, why don't they finish the tackle when the QB pitches? At 1:12, for instance, the end starts to tackle the QB but then stops when he senses the QB has pitched. Why not just smash the QB as hard as you can?
To be perfectly honest - I'm going to guess they don't want to risk any potential flags. Another option might be that if they finish the tackle they take themselves out of the play vs. potentially being able to chase it down
He's deeper on zone dive so that he can read the blocks/cut better. Midline-triple he'll be up closer to hit the hole faster, allowing a quicker pitch from the QB. I haven't studied it enough to know the alignment for every concept.
@@hammerotongo4677 I'm sure that's true to some degree, but AF has constraints off zone dive. For example, at 1:25 the B-back (fullback) is deep but AF runs QB counter instead of dive. At 1:49 the B-back backs up and they run mid-triple, which I'm guessing is because the NT is in the A-gap, forcing the B-back to bend his path. Putting him deeper allows him to read the double team better. Last, quick point: AF's offense is based on if/then scenarios, not deception, so it doesn't matter a whole lot if the D knows tendencies. *I coach the same offense at the HS level
@@hammerotongo4677 Mid-triple is their primary method for getting the ball pitched to the perimeter and it's been pretty effective for them the last few seasons. Keep in mind they graduated a very talented and experienced QB and B-back...1st game is a bit sloppy
Great to see you back, Coach!
Great to see you back Coach! Your videos have been SUPER valuable for our 9U team.

Thanks for the cut up coach..been waiting 👊
I’m sooooo glad this is back Coach!
Tremendous work. Thank you for putting these together
Thanks coach I’ve learned so much from your channel
The plays at 6:44 and at 8:27 seem like zone dive, not mid triple. Have a look at the scoop blocks at back side of OL (left for both).
Love these analysis videos! I've been following Air Force to learn more and these videos you post really help.

Hey coach why does air force vary the depth of the FB/ B back?

@@phoult37 But then doesn't the D know before the play whether it's zone dive or mid triple?

@@phoult37 If you don't need mid triple as a constraint play, why even run it at all? It just gets your qb hit and it doesn't even really work
