    Really appreciate your opening statement about meeting your hero--their may be yachts I like better, but there is no better boat I like than a Fleming! Great tour and description, Garnock--thank you very much.

      I love how every element has been thought out and designed to make them perfect for offshore extended cruising. So many redundancy options so that if something goes wrong, you can still keep cruising. It's also impressive that such a sea going boat can offer as much comfort and luxury for a boat of this size 🤠

    Great tour of an absolutely stunning dream ship. Thank you. My smallest of nits are those salon benches. So hard to find deep and comfy sofas on trawlers it seems. Everyone seems to prefer the bolt upright look and feel. Lol - like this an actual problem. If I had that kind of play money I’d likely just drop a bit more to swap them out.

    The Fleming 58 is my fav boat. The 58 represents a new generation of Flemings. Fleming got the famous 109 year old boatbuilding and naval architecture firm Norm R Wright & Sons of Brisbane, Australia to do a completely new, keel up, design and engineering package. The engine room is typical of the layout and efficiency of a NRW design.
    The 58 has been so successful, Fleming commissioned NRW to do their new flagship, the 85.

      I always wanted to get on a Fleming for my channel and managed to get on 2 of them!! I also have a 2023 Fleming 65 video to edit and showcase at some point, too 🤠

    Very good job of a video showcase of a Fleming 58. Thank you! I'd love to be able to do my own walk-through of a F55 an F58 side by side and see the difference.

    Perfect! How many hours are engines such as those good for?

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  6 месяцев назад +2

      I was always told as a ballpark, larger diesel engines like this should be able to go around 10,000 hours before needing any major rebuilds etc assuming maintenance has been kept up with.

    Absolutely gorgeous boat and very nicely laid out. One that your could use as a live-aboard if you wanted to as well. My only quibbles is calling it the "Ultimate Great Looper", I'm thinking the radar pedestal and radar are more than 2.5 feet tall on top of the arch. That would mean that going through Chicago you would HAVE to dismount them since there is one fixed bridge there with a 19.5 foot clearance. Another is a 5 foot daft, that could make some sections of the ICW (looking at you Georgia) and the Trent-Severn more than a little nerve wracking.

      Thanks for watching and for the detailed response. Certain spots would certainly take careful planning and preparations, but it would be a trip of a lifetime on something like this 🤠

    • @michiganengineer8621
      @michiganengineer8621 10 месяцев назад

      @@GarnockReviews I agree it would definitely make it the trip of a lifetime. And with that Fleming you could always go offshore (weather permitting) to by-pass those shallow areas. However, for the price tag I'd look at the latest from Mike Howe, his Deep Sea Kraken 52. A 4 cabin 52 foot cat with quad 600's LOL

    • @willhoyle752
      @willhoyle752 10 месяцев назад +2

      I just watched a couple who did the great loop in a Fleming 65, a bigger model. They bumped bottom a few times but with the full keel, no damage. They had no stress and cleared the bridges. That was their 2nd great loop trip. They made the first trip on a smaller Fleming. So both trips were on Fleming yachts on the Great Loop.

      @@willhoyle752 I've noticed on some boats that the longer ones sometimes have a lower air draft. Do you recall if theirs had a fly-bridge?

    • @Crazyasianman286
      @Crazyasianman286 8 месяцев назад +2

      Per Fleming’s website, her air draft is 17’, allowing her to slip under the bridge. It does, however mean you’d have to take the Oswego Canal instead of running the Erie all the way to Buffalo, and there’s some spots through downtown Chicago you’d miss as well as you’d be forced to take the Cal-Sag canal.

    This branding of boats as a “Great looper” automatically brands the boat as only being fit for smooth water, rivers canals and lakes
    It’s like real estate, as soon as you see great starter home it brings to mind a run down shack sadly in need of a lot of work

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  10 месяцев назад +9

      I'd love to get on one as a comparison. The Fleming has a couple of advantages in my opinion being that she is twin screw and not single. She also has the ability to cruise at much higher speeds than the Nordhavn.

    • @RobNMelbourne
      @RobNMelbourne 9 месяцев назад +2

      The name '58' is deceptive, it is actually over 65'. The equivalent Nordhavn for comparing LOA/LWL/Beam etc would be the Nordhavn 625.
