Something I tried and loved is covering the back. If those shelves come out, you can take your peal and stick paper and apply onto the back and then put shelves back in. It is fun for the short term. And I'm pretty sure it comes off easily without any sticky residue.
Hello there and thank you for sharing your ideas! Covering the back is a beautiful look. I've done that with glass fronted cabinets in my kitchen and it gives a beautiful updated look. Thanks for sharing this product. I recently purchased a framed mirror/shelf combo that was poorly finished. It looked so much better after a rub down with 0000 steel wool and walnut Restor a Finish. I wouldn’t have known about this product without your video. Seeing your results and having your step by step instructions gave me the confidence to spend the money on the supplies and give it a go. There is another product that has been out of stock at my Lowes that is also by Howards called Feed N Wax. It can be used after you restore the finish and is a beeswax based product that adds additional protection to your furniture. As soon as it comes back in stock I want to use it on this piece as well. I would love to hear about your experience with these products after you try them! XO

My grandmother had a VERY similar piece--from the 40's or 50's. Hers was Mahogany and in perfect condition. My brother inherited it. I would have loved to have it.

Restore finish I love it I bought it to my other home in Jamaica it restored all those furniture my parents made in the 60s.They look brand new also in my home here in America.

Totally awesome find for $40! I was so happy to see you using the Restore a Finish correctly, using 4 ought(4 0000) steel wool. Have seen people use a rag to put it on, might as well use a bottle of oil.

I've been guilty of using it on a rag to stain/cover surface scratches though.😅 My store has been out of the Howard Feed N Wax that I really needed to use over the Restore A Finish on this piece. I have the exact same secretary - mine is mahogany - got it at Goodwill for $65. I love the cute tiny drawers inside of the top part. You did a great job.

I inherited that secretary desk from my ma. It was originally my grandpa’s. I found his old savings account info under letter box! The only difference is it has a sort of ornate top piece on it. Also I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stubbed my toe on the claw foot feet. I think this has ones that are bigger and protrude out more. I love all the furniture I inherited and will treasure it always. Take care.❤

Restore finish I love it I bought it to my other home in Jamaica it restored all those furniture my parents made in the 60s.They look brand new also in my home here in America.

Totally awesome find for $40! I was so happy to see you using the Restore a Finish correctly, using 4 ought(4 0000) steel wool. Have seen people use a rag to put it on, might as well use a bottle of oil.

I've been guilty of using it on a rag to stain/cover surface scratches though.😅 My store has been out of the Howard Feed N Wax that I really needed to use over the Restore A Finish on this piece. I have the exact same secretary - mine is mahogany - got it at Goodwill for $65. I love the cute tiny drawers inside of the top part. You did a great job.

I inherited that secretary desk from my ma. It was originally my grandpa’s. I found his old savings account info under letter box! The only difference is it has a sort of ornate top piece on it. Also I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stubbed my toe on the claw foot feet. I think this has ones that are bigger and protrude out more. I love all the furniture I inherited and will treasure it always. Take care.❤
