- The plaintiff used to be friends with the defendant, and they lived together. However, things spiraled out of control. The plaintiff claims the defendant owes her for utility bills, so she’s suing. The defendant says living with the plaintiff was intolerable. As far as the utility bills, the defendant argues she wasn’t living with the plaintiff at the time.

My best friend since I was 10 and we double dated, played all sports together you name it. Went to college and I roomed with him my 2nd year. Worse roommate I ever had. Moved after 2nd year and it saved our friendship. Today we're 70 and still best friends. BUT he was still a terrible roommate. LOL

Not true at all . The landlord has to minimize the damages . Show me case where the landlord sued someone for multiple months of lost rent . Just find a new tenant . In this situation the other roommate has to find another roommate after a month or 2 a reasonable time . The roommate can sue for those months but you have to minimize ur damages .

This is one of those situations where living together shined a light on things that were ignored or dismissed over the 11-year friendship. It hurts, but at least the defendant found out. Friendship breakups are as tough as romantic breakups.

I can sympathize with the defendant. I recently lost a friend of 20 years over his ridiculous pettiness and there wasn't a thing I could do about it, and it's happened before but we've patched things up, but this time it's just happened too many times. He obviously didn't value the friendship as much as I did. as the defendant said, I will miss the friendship with the person he was, but not with who he has become.
I feel so lucky that my best friend and I are the best roommates too😅❤
My best friend and I have been friends since we were 12yrs old, we are 45 now. 33yrs later we have never fought over money, or a boy. Not even when both of us like the same guy. We decided our friendship was more important and we were 14 at that time.

My best friend stayed with me for a long weekend and I tnought I was going to die. She expected me to wait on her hand and foot and said that being she was a big girl and had a thyroid issue all meals needed to be prepared at specific times with lots of greens. Ugh i was so glad to see the back of her when she left. Never again.

Another instance where she totally flips on the law. Today she says a judge will not award a landlord money on an illegal apartment but in every other illegal apartment case she has refused to return a tenants money when they found out the apartment was illegal. I’ve said before the rulings depend on how well she relates to the people in front of her and only the law “a little bit”
You missed something. She said we won't make you pay a landlord. You said RETURN money to tenant. Two totally different things.
Yeah I see where you're headed, but this isn't it lol. She won't return money already paid because legal or not- you did live there. If you were to stop paying rent or leave before the lease is up, she won't award a landlord any money for that.
she didn't flip on the law. The plaintiff was not suing for rent. If she had been, and the defendant could prove that it was an illegal apartment, then the plaintiff would get nothing, but as she was suing for utilities, not rent, that is separate.
