they prerunn the entire course a before and have there exact track set up and warning areas are marked on the Lowrance GPS, they have head unit radios in the helmets and are constantly communicating, the co-driver watches engine temperatures and ect and follows the course. you cant pace note 500 or 1000 miles with 100's of different routes
im not 100 percent sure but because 1) the mud and dirt on a windshield can limit visibility especially dust you cant just wipe it off with a windshield wiper its easier to just have a cloth to instantly wipe the mud and dust off 2) when these trucks do these desert races they get really into it if youre in their way theyre gunna whatever it takes to around you so what they do is bump each other and these trucks get nailed a lot of the times so if they are constantly bumping people that shits
Hi to everyone, l just want ask you one techinal question. Well,l saw many times in this class of trucks that they use a speed semi-automatic gearbox. So, why doesnt they use a manual or sequential speed gearbox? For example l could seen the "Hummer of Robby Gordon" at the Paris-Dakar use a similar truck (the chassis is similar) but he has a sequential speed gearbox and the power are similar too. So the question is, why they use the semi-automatic speed gearbox?
Another question guys, and sorry if it will be a silly question. But why in these truck they didnt use a windshild? Is it forbidden from the rules or what? Because my opinion, its not make sense to often clean the helmet from the dust, or in some cases, mud. If they use a windshild, as other race cars, could be more comfy. Again, sorry for my silly question and l hope some of you will answer me, thank you very much :-)
i would of thought they use the auto's just for reliability, no need to worry about clutches, and the auto takes out alot of the spin and grab that goes through the driveline. offroad is all about being there at the finish
going to crack and limit visibility also if they crash it could crack and break a little but these trucks are tough so if they crash they can still keep going most of the time and 3) it adds weight the less weight the faster it goes
I understand, well, and then is becasue there are not very tight corners to drive, so l think you dont need a faster speed gear as a 6 speed gear box. Most of the offroad tracks are streights.
This is so great that you share this with everyone!
Thanks Bebo!
Everybody should be doing this seriously this is just awesome video
Love the sound of those bypass shocks clicking!
Besides moral support, they help with guiding via the GPS, keep an eye on the guages and do mechanical like changing tires.
best engine noise ever there at the starting line!
👍awsome job
soooo!!! fun THANKs!!!!!!
This should have 15 million views not 15 thousand.
also that hummer of gordons is a glorified buggy, it uses a albins 6 speed sequential buggy gearbox
NICE!!

Indeed.
What do they possibly control with 40 switches on the dash? I could understand around 10-15, but sheez. Confusing.
GO!!! ANDY GO!!! :D

I'm used to WRC, what the co-driver does?? I don't see any pace note...
