On Biko: I feel like in order to win, you have to take chances. He obviously knew his body, his capabilities, and his limits. He took a calculated chance, which did not pay off but it seems that he was correct in his calculations. It could have led to something worthwhile. At least he was proactive. Jordan you're a great analyst on the topic. Hope to see more content like this in the future. Your experience, skills and personality are perfect for it. You need your own show!
I'd listen to you and clay talk woodsmanship for hours. Regardless of how he finishes, I'd love to see a few hours of you two chatting about the experience.
Hey Jordan. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the new Alone season. I consider you to be one of the foremost experts when it comes to surviving an Alone competition. Your insights are extremely interesting and I hope you keep doing this for all future Alone episodes! Thank you!
THANKS FOR YOUR FURTHER THOUGHTS. The way you expand on your experience as an extension of what current participants are shown doing TRULY ADDS to our understanding and enjoyment of the challenge!
The end of episode 3 we see Jordon making a smoker for his fish. To me that seems crazy in such a densely bear populated area. It seems like that would almost be a waste of time and energy. I would love to hear your thoughts on this though.
I just started shooting recurve bow this year which led me down the rabbit hole that brought me to Clay's RUclips channel looking for traditional archery tips, which took me to the show Alone ( I had never heard of it until Clay said he was going to be on) which also brought me to YOU, I have started watching some of your episode's on the RUclips, very cool stuff, I'm also from VA so added bonus for me that you won. I'm pulling for Clay and think he has the necessary skills to go the distance, the only thing I can imagine that could take him out other than a freak accident would be missing his family. I can't imagine what it is truly like out there but much respect to all the contestants past, present and future. GREAT JOB
@@hobojordo pretty good I just started in January I try to shoot every day and I am fairly consent grouping cantaloupe size around 20 yards, of course the farther I move back the more the group opens, I'm hoping to get confident enough to try and take a deer this year.

Just watched season 6 again. Its still pretty amazing. I think you are right about keeping expectations low, so you dont get such crushing let downs. That way all your wins are big. congrats brother.
Yeah, I’ve seen the (deer head?)On the preview and wondered who gets it. I would guess Clay because of his skill level and knowledge of hunting, but who knows. I actually would rather be surprised by it than see a preview.
I love your talks about the episodes. You add your experience to explain their thoughts during the adventure. Your outlook to deal with the current situation and not hope/wish for another outcome is refreshing. Season 8..They are not allowed to trap or eat mice..is that what you said?
Jordan, do you agree with the shows caption about the trout, being that its enough food for three days? Thanks for these recap review videos. Very entertaining.
I find it suspicious how little they have covered Matt. Nothing about building his shelter, nothing about being hungry, no failed attempts at fishing or hunting, no empty traps, just him collecting abundant onions and then sitting by the fire enjoying his stew, but he didn't even say what was in the stew. We are left to assume it was only onions. But for not covering anything involving failed food collection, he seems pretty content with the situation, which makes me wonder what they are not including yet. There seems to be less available game than some past seasons, but a good trap line should be productive, and if there is any game in his area, surely he would have been out tracking it. So I am wondering why they are showing so little, and what is going to be revealed in future episodes! I laughed at his flex of making a perfect miniature Figure 4 that was strong enough to hold up quite a large rock. Have you ever tried making them that small and that strong? ;) If the rest of his trapping skills are that refined, there should be some results...
I agree with @Benjamin Feeley Gleaning info from previous seasons, we often don't see a lot of footage from some contestants because they are not tapping out any time soon. We'll probably see much more of him later....
@@bikowright408 what regulations made the fishing difficult? No bait? No barbed/treble hooks? I’m rooting for you btw. You’re attitude seems to be the most useful tool to bring into the wilderness.

Hi Jordan. on 17:23 you make a point about a certain amount of rabbits you were supposed to have. That sounds like a cray rule. could you tell us more about any other crazy rules that stood out to you? I heard there was a period where you weren't allowed to venture on the ice due to 'safety' reasons even though the ice already was thick enough to walk on. The rules are actually quite unclear and i can't find them on their wbsite. Some of them also seem to change per season. funny how you mentioned you liked Biko's course of action. when i saw him do that for the reason of exploring i immediately thought, damn Jordan is gonna love that.
I'm not sure how detailed we're supposed to get into the regulations, but there was one that limited the amount of rabbits you could have at a time. Yeah exploring can be good! I know there was someone on my season who had a big river on their territory that they never found, could of been a huge benefit - so it pays off even if it's just a can of beer (haha I found a full can of rolling rock on the shore at one point)

Do the contestants on Alone get paid depending on the number of minutes of their footage that are chosen to be aired on the show? In other words, is there an incentive to try to shoot footage that is more likely to be chosen by the editors for the show? Or is the only incentive = staying out there for as long as possible?
@@hobojordo Thank you for letting me know. In that case it is strange that the contestants bother to do bits like pretending they are hosting a cooking show when they are cooking their trout.

Yeah and In our season we also had to quarantine for 2 weeks prior to orientation because of covid. So by the time we were put out it had been a month away from family.
There may be regulations for snares and foothold traps that don’t apply to deadfall traps. Deadfall traps almost always kill the animal while foothold traps and snares don’t (I guess snares can kill - but probably not if checked daily).
