I am always fascinated by your reactions. A musician at the V.I.P. seat of this venue told that BABYMETAL would not be possible without SU-METAL's voice.
I believe that the girls themselves create the appropriate facial expressions for each scene of each song. They are true professionals, but they are not robots (although Yui is called Yuibot for her precise dancing and unreal cuteness), so we sometimes see the outpouring of emotion in their expressions.
This was one of the best reaction video for this song.

For obvious reasons, this song is often the closing number.
In this case it was the opening song for "Red Night", the first of two sold out nights at Tokyo Dome.
The venue holds 55,000 people, and is a lifetime goal for many performers in Japan.
There were completely different setlists for Tokyo Dome Red Night and Black Night.
Between the two shows, all of the songs on the first two albums were performed.
Except for 'From Dusk Till Dawn' which is only on the International (outside Japan) release of 'Metal Resistance'.

Hey XI, nice work as always (more layers peeled back)!! Sorry to hear about the original being blocked... Ah yes, the whirlpool/maelstrom that is Babymetal, pulling you in, very hard to escape. And the tears, an interestingly common occurrence with this group, and probably happens even more than we know, since many people (that aren't on camera) won't admit to it! I think for most people it was just such a welcome revelation to find that metal is not just an outlet for anger and aggression, it can also inspire joy!

Thanks for keep trying to share your reaction and choreo breakdown on this song despite the blocked issues, I'll be looking for your patrreon once you share where we can see it.
Can I ask you which ROR version did you got blocked?
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. Is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is mental, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
With only 17 and 18 years old this moment will be forever remember when they performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages.
Tokyo Dome 2016 was another huge milestone in BM career in front of 55K fans each one of both nights, playing all their songs from their setlist, 1st album and 2nd album (except for "From Dusk Till Dawn").
There's a funny story that someone close to SuMetal said that if she would make a devil's pact she rather ask the skill to ride a Tokyo Dome instead of a bike lol -NotACult-
The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males.
    They are:
    - Mikio Fujioka, god of guitar, aka "kogami" or "little god", a beloved Kami Band member and extremely talented guitarist who sadly past away.(R.I.P.)
    - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar and golden guitar.
    - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP.
    - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene.
SuMetal isn't the usual metal vocalist but there was high pitch vocalist on melodic speed metal like this, most of them male but SuMetal piercing vocals and technique is quite unique, no doubt.
Without a doubt this version is insane but i highly recommend you to watch the official live in Japan 2015, and if you got emotional on this then I'm pretty sure you're gonna love that version too.
Another cool alternative version is live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 with both Kami Bands playing, East and West, and the three _avengers_ on stage, it was epic.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully this time won't be blocked again, praising to the Fox God.🙏

I heard that one of the ways SuMetal practices her breath control is by running on a treadmill and leaping off to sing a verse. Not sure how true that is but a fact I do know is that she is a soprano with a C4 to G5# vocal range - and can keep her vibrato smooth as silk while performing perfect choreo with YuiMetal and MoaMetal.

Good reaction - bummer about the first attempt being blocked, but as Jake Muller has said, watch the clear version and either use the logo version in your reaction video or add the logo after you've watched and you should be OK.
Su-metal's incredibly clear, crisp and clean Jpop vocal style is a big part of the appeal and one of the main things that makes BABYMETAL stand out and different to every other metal band where they might use any one of the more stereotypical metal style vocals.
I think it has already been explained about where you were saying they were doing animatronic choreo that they were riding galloping horses (the feet movements are more obvious in other videos).
They do 'stagger' their movements quite often where, for example, Yui moves, Su moves then Moa moves like they are flowing one after the other (or swap the order about depending on the song). This happens in a few songs - off the top of my head I can think of it happening during 'Gimme Chocolate', 'Awadama Fever', 'Yava', 'Elevator Girl' and there must be many more.
'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, I'm not sure the translation really works so well to convey what it is really about, but it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from British power metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version.

    • @xiaouiris
      @xiaouiris  Год назад +2

I do always wonder about the translation, I know it's not accurate with indian songs so I figured it would be the same with other languages.

13:19 this is is something that i notice a lot in Mikikos choreography especially with perfume. she does it a lot more with perfume though probably because perfumes sound is electro so therefore mikikos choreo for them looks almost robotic, a good example is the polygon wave dance practice. with babymetal it's always in a more free and energetic way. mikiko made this choreography with war in mind, because that's how the song made her feel. also koba metal requested that she kept that in mind as well, it was a specific war but i can't remember. the galloping moves are supposed to represent riding on a horse to war. this whole choreo to me looks like Su, Moa and Yui gathering the one for a victory against evil!
Also about Su's voice. she aspired to be a idol/songwriter when she was little, so it's no surprise that her voice kind of reminds me of an idol. it's kind of high, very clear and very loud. who knew that it'd fit perfectly with metal?!
A very good example of Mikikos animatronic choreography is Perfumes Spring of Life choreo. the best video to watch is the live one where they have the white outfits on with lights. There are also many examples of Mikikos "domino effect" style in it. i hope you enjoy it!

I'm glad you for the full Babymetal experience, from: "metal with little girls dancing ? That's unexpected, maybe even silly idea which wouldn't work."
To: "ohh, they are taking this very serious indeed."
To: "they got me, I'm crying from happiness now...."
It's probably my most rewarding journey in entertainment.
Probably because a lot of entertainment is around fictional people, but Babymetal are real people and their rise to fame while incredible it also took them a lot of hard work. And they did it all at such a young age.
Your earrings fit the theme of triangle of Babymetal. 🙂
Surprisingly, this was the first song of the first day of a 2 day extravaganza of a show (2 big shows, every song played from the first 2 albums, no song repeated).

The animatronic part you mentioned they are riding their horses into battle, that is why their eyes are down. The Road of Resistance is the road they are taking with their brand of metal and the resistance is the critics they face, saying they are not metal or not a band but they will continue on their path regardless. Su not sounding like a metal singer, actually the first metal singers did sing clean and high like her it was later that the coarse and growling vocals came into metal, Ozzy, and Ian Gillian are two that come immediately to mind but there are many others. Shine is a song I would recommend to you, the dance style is different again, I don't know the right term for that style but the best way I could describe it is more expressive, emotive and modern, and is how I would imagine they will choreograph Monochrome. If you do check that out the Legend M version is best, it is just Su and Moa on stage, most Babymetal fans would have this song in their top 5. I think doing it a second time and also doing different versions of the same song is good. You will notice different things each time.
A couple other reactors said that they can't keep blocked stuff on Patreon. If you have to move it you can put your own overlay on it and try RUclips again.I don't know how to do it but I'm sure there are videos about it. Something like a screen saver with movement is best because you can still see through it.
Su has said that she usually decides her singing style for a song. She will simulate dancing in the studio to make sure that it will work well live. J-pop is her fall back because that's what she likes and what she's trained for.
Interesting about dancing with your face.
Facial expression is prevalent for BM. Each member uses her own expressions that they are good at. Moa has a problem because her face expresses whatever emotion she feels at the time.
I think expressions are more important in Idol. Purfume doesn't do as much as BM but when I think about Idol group expressions are more important in their songs. I have a DVD of a rock group song. LOVENDOR has 2 vocalists. 1 is an Idol and the other is just a experienced singer. The DVD has different versions that have a closeup of each singers face for the whole song. The singers was boring but the Idol knew how to be interesting for the whole song just with facial expressions.

I think in dance in general facial expressions are a must, expressions are choreography and though it can be natural, a lot of it is taught. But because metal is a genre that typically isn't choregraphed, I think Mikiko had the freedom there to play around with that element.

They reportedly can learn a dance in about an hour, then it's just muscle memory. They began vocal and dance training at about 6 yo. When they created the Avengers to be the third (there were 3 Avengers) after Yui left, Moa was their instructor for all the dances.
There is a team of song writers behind Babymetal, so their songs are not in a genre, as are all of the Rock/Metal bands of Japan. Their influences are not as western as the western barbarians believe. Their influences are more X Japan, Luna Sea, Show Ya and others.

It's cool to see you reacting to Babymetal, I think your Kpop reaction videos fantastic but doing these are an interesting break. Destrose may have started the 2010s all-female Japanese metal boom but it was Babymetal that poured gasoline and really kicked it off. But before that there was the 2000s all-female Japanese rock band boom and the kids that added gas to that were 4 vocals and dance students from Osaka called SCANDAL. Their early videos where they were in school uniforms had some choreography in it which would probably be really basic for a pro dancer but surprising in a pop-punk group.
Babymetal's backing band is called the Kami band, and it's a large group of various session players. One of the original Kami band guitarists was in the band Yousei Teikoku (aka Das Feenreich) and currently with Unlucky Morpheus. Unfortunately I don't know who would be this particular Kami Band drummer.
I don't know if you're allowed to react to Mondo Grosso's Labyrinth but there's also a BTS video about it from Elle Japan, both on RUclips. Mondo Grosso has a RUclips channel Shinichi Osawa (Mondo Grosso). Yeah large Japanese music companies can be really hard-line about stopping showings of their music videos to the frustration of fans and the artists alike.

Very interesting again, and yeah it is a pity we have to deal with this blocking thing. It happens a lot with BABYMETAL stuff, it must be very frustrating in your position.
This was their biggest concert ever, they played two days in the Tokyo Dome stadium and for them it must have been a dream achieved. This was the first song they played in this set of shows, and in this performance there is a little detail that I have always loved. Around 11:30 Yui searches with her eyes Su's, and then they nod each other. You can understand they are saying each other with their body language something they must have spoken about: "yes, this is how playing in the Tokyo Dome looks".
From this show it is a must to also watch the performance of Tales of the Destinies and The One, that should be experienced together.

Very fitting of you to choose that mug. As a child, I always had nightmare about Alice in Wonderland, especially after going to Disneyland. The band had a song that was almost named 'Killing Alice' or 'Kill the Alice', but was later renamed 'Rondo of Nightmare'. It's sort of inspired by the scene where Alice falls down the cave. Or at least that's what I read. You should check it out. It's not a song with any dancing though, just Su singing.

The Amuse graphic design department probably had a big part to play in the individual elements of the BM logo and also put them together. The wings are for Su and come from the "Karen Girls" song "My Wings". The elements for Yui and Moa are the skull and heart respectively. These elements were put on T-shirts and other merchandise in a Sakura Gakuin promotion with the clothing brand "Mono Comme Ca". Su's element was a flower, but you don't see that often now.

I was hoping that your Patreon reaction would be to the definitive "Live in Japan" performance at the Saitama Super Arena as that has an energy and dynamism flowing between BM and the audience that is simply amazing - but any BM is good, as was your reaction. I agree with you about the quality of Su's voice being very clear and precise. You can tell she's had a lot of training rather than some metal singers, for example, Ozzie Osbourne who I assume was getting up behind a mic in a Black Country pub pretty much untrained. She doesn't strain for notes and can be very clipped with her voice. The drummer that you noticed is Aoyama Hideki.
BM do have techno elements that come in with the soaring guitar riffs and Mikiko will often have "voguing" hand elements that she uses to fill out the dance for performers who aren't professional dancers or who are of varying abilities. The main theme of the Road of Resistance dance is the "horse riding" and the raising of the hands and salutes to encourage the crowd in "resistance".
The emotional ride of Road of Resistance was my Babymetal "Road to Damascus" moment (#notacult). By the end I was an emotional wreck. They took me from one peak to the next and it shows the talent and professionalism of the whole Babymetal team. I realized that BM wasn't a gimmick or even just heavy metal but a cross between metal/J-pop and a Broadway show carefully choreographed to manipulate your emotions in the best possible way. Su, Moa and Yui are able to control tens of thousands of people in the audience, which never fails to leave me astounded given their young age, but all the years in Sakura Gakuin, rehearsals and touring makes it seem effortless even as we worry if they can pull it off.
The song is about fighting against the odds and never giving up and talks about beacon fires which brings to my mind the resistance of Japan against the Mongol invasions. It has a strong DragonForce feel because Li and Totman from that band collaborated on it and played it on the album. There are many places that amaze in this performance including Hideki Ayoma's drumming or the guitar solos, but I really get the chills right after the crowd "wows" finish and there is the fast guitar riff and the girls' dance break ends up with them standing strongly with their arms up. For me that's where the music, choreography, staging and emotion all come together perfectly.
For your next BM reaction I recommend Tales of the Destinies at the Tokyo Dome because it's my favourite BM song and dancing to the fluid time signatures of prog rock is interesting to see, I wonder what the click track sounds like. Then please get to some Atarashii Gakko as I think it will be more interesting than most groups from a dance perspective.
Just enter the following text in the RUclips search and enjoy. You'll be fine reacting to anything on the official AG or 88rising channels. AG bring a lot of joy to their dancing and I think that's missing from many performers today.

    "Koibumi dance practice"
"Night before the Exam single take performance"

@@xiaouiris OK so a quick orientation.
Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal and Perfume are all "products" of Amuse Inc., a big Japanese entertainment company. Mikiko Mizuno is their in house choreographer. Babymetal is a spin off from Sakura Gakuin that has out lasted them and become far bigger than SG ever was. So the members of BM were also once in SG.
Atarashii Gakko is entirely separate from BM etc as it was formed by the Asobisystem entertainment company in around 2015. The company's big star is Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Mizyu from AG was once one of her back up dancers. Where BM seem to be tightly scripted and produced by their producer Kei Kobayashi, AG have a lot more autonomy and input into their work and performances. They do all their own choreography and work on the songs with producers which has lead to some very interesting results. They seem to be free to do some very uncommercial work like a recent collaboration with their makeup artist called "Ceremony". Just search on "Atarashii Gakko Ceremony" if you want to learn about mortar and pestles and Snail Gods...

Babymetal isn't trying to be a pure "metal" band; they're a hybrid of j-pop and metal, openly incorporating elements of both styles of music (and anything else they care to pull into their songs). Kobametal created Babymetal to be a gateway to get pop fans interested in metal music, so he deliberately infused it with lots of catchy pop hooks and pop vocals that are pleasing to a more mainstream audience. Their unapologetic catchiness and use of pop elements is what annoys some metal purists, because metal purists are insufferable elitist bores (I know because I used to be one before I became a kitsune).
Unfortunately, getting Babymetal videos uploaded to youtube is very hard, as Babymetal's management company Amuse are very heavy handed with copyright claims. You can try things like altering the transparency of the video clip or putting another logo over it. I think that if worst comes to worst, just remove the video itself from your video and just have yourself on screen talking about the song. We've all seen the videos you're reacting to a million times, so we'll know what you're looking at.

Excellent reaction, can't wait to see the original. Did you try to upload it without any watermark or anything? That would be why it got blocked, unfortunately all the videos on the Reactor Resource need to be obscured in some way to get past the copyright bots. If you want to try to get the original uploaded, assuming it was a video block and not an audio block, you could edit a logo over it now, or even just blur it using youtube's own built-in editor (go to your channel dashboard where all your videos are listed, edit the one that's blocked, and go to the 'Editor' tab on the right, there's a blur tool there). Hope this helps!
I think the reason why many of their songs haven't been recommended to you yet is because people thought you were mainly interested in the choreography, so they were trying to pick only the ones with the best choreo. However, it seems you've been bitten by the BM bug 😁 in that case, I would suggest checking out a Su solo. Supposedly Su does the choreography for them herself (not that there is much of it, since the other two aren't on stage), though I wouldn't be surprised if Mikiko has at least some input. My recommendation is Akatsuki. If you want to watch a copyright-safe version, check out the one from Budokan Black Night in 2014. If you want the _best_ version, check out the one from Wembley in 2016 (it's on the Reactor Resource in the spreadsheet under the 'Future Plans' video, or it's also just on my channel with a link to the version without the logo in the description; you'll have to do the logo trick again though, hopefully you're able to watch the version without the logo and edit it or a blur effect in after the fact 🙏). Either way, hope you enjoy it!

You just select what shape you want the blur to be and then drag and drop it to where and what size you need. I don't think anyone would mind having a blur instead of a watermark.
