It has also been a nice high way car for me (irrespective to the paid reviews), did numerous Bangalore - Mumbai trips almost 1100KM (one way) in around 12-13 hrs. and during 2013 Nov, I did a north India round trip from Bangalore to Muzaffarpur 2700(approx) one way with family very comfortably in 2.5 days. I just love my Beat diesel.
Just clocked 1 lakh kms on my beat diesel bought 6 years ago. Have never faced any maintenance problem till now, a great city car, easy to drive, parks well anywhere due to its compact size and trust me, it's a huge advantage considering indian traffic conditions. In my family, we have a XUV 500, an Audi Q7, maruti SX4, still love to go on drives on the beat, have probably great memories driving it. Wish Chevy comes back with an updated model soon.
Had a beat diesel for 7 rs..sold it only bcoz wanted an automatic..its a grt grt car..superb acceleration, grt steering, good average, good build quality, and comfy seats and grt looks in n out..i still miss my beat..the name is apt..beat is all heart...it is the drivers car..wish i cud ride a beat again in my life
I had the first generation top model of beat diesel. The best part was the driveability. Specially the steering and wheel. There was no dead space on the neutral place, The best part was the beautiful dials that looked from another planet (bike like). It gave 23 kmpl on highway and 15 kmpl in city with AC. In even the worst of the traffic jams it gave at least 13 kmpl. The torque made overtaking a breeze. I drove about 35000 km of 45000 km on highways, The ground clearance was also great. Took it for mild offroading on stream beds and dry ground of jungles. Never once did it fail to get me where I wanted to go. I do not find a better balanced package now a days. The suspension was stiff but when driven loaded on the rear seat (mostly 4 or 5 people were in the car on highways and offroading), its behaviour changed drastically.
I think this review will give a push to the beats dormant sales :) .I have a 2011 petrol beat . I chose it over i10 and Wagon R and 4 yrs later i realise it was a wise decision . I have seen wagon Rs starting to rattle after 3 years but the beat feels solid even now
rohit r marutis are known for their build quality but they have reliable mechanicals. I agree that many other brands offer much better build, whatever be it in this case it is not a chevy atleast. Chevrolet do not have a single good offering in India, as of now at each segment chevrolet lags behind, if you are associating build quality, chevies are not known for it, had a 2002 optra magnum, it was a wise choice to get rid of it just after 2 years. have been happy ever since

The Maruti quality starts at the swift and above , rest all are tin boxes which becomes evident after a few years of use , though cheap to maintain , being a maruti . The Beat has a 4 star Euro NCAP safety rating . The same car car is sold in the US, Uk , Australia too known as the Spark, same engine and mechanicals and doing well . I doubt if an alto or celerio would sell at all in the US. The Optra magnum was introduced in india in 2007 and the optra earlier in 2005. 2002 ???Anyways the car had a great engine , a 2 lt 125 bhp and a whopping 305 Nm of torque . Those figures are unheard for an 11 lac Rs car even today .At 11 lacs it was a steal and the car in its days had a cult following . I know of people of own and dont think of selling it even today.

Chevy's built quality is way superior to maruti's in fact it is not comparable.. Jus sit inside both the cars n listen to the thud when u close the door, u get to know the difference..
Beat diesel lover from almost 9 yrs, drove nearly 4 lakh km never had a breakdown or troubleshoot till date. Maruti can't come under competition with this German legends
I purchased Celerio ZDi on the day it was released. 3rd june 2015..! 42000 KM done.! Trust me, I have no complaints.! Fuel efficiency is 27+ (ALWAYS) on highways and 22+ in city conditions. It is definitely more practical than beat. Good review Autocar.! Kudos.!

lower kerb weight give edge for celario. Yes poor thin metal sheets reduces igts weight. Even in swift i never heard thud sound while closing the ddors but i hear it in Beat.
celerio with its 2 cylinder have lot more momentum than Ritz and reaches high speeds at short span I have done it if we put it in 4th gear more power is produced
Hi friends, i have purchased a celerio zxi and it come with bad paint quality, paint of the car is fading out and the reason the company people saying is because of BIRD DROPPING(bird shit) so we are nothing to do it. the suzuki cars are coming with such lo paint quality and my car is one year old.
Harshad K I own a ford Figo and its unbelievably good. steering feel is just uncomparable and way ahead of these two. suspension is on a different league, but the brakes arent the best i must say, i own LXI TDC may be the brakes are better on titanium.
That acceleration is shit celerio is more powerfull than sedan cars its accceleration is easier than other high priced cars. I have ride all cars but this car is superior in high speeds than other cars
Chevy Beat is in the Segment of Swift, Ideally it should be compared with Swift Diesel. Beat lost all the way down and now it went down to compare with Maruti Celerio. If tomorrow Maruti releases the Alto in Diesel looks like American Beat will be competing with Japanese Alto(Which is 5 level below its segment). This clearly tells how much American Giant suffers in Indian market. lol
Rale Demi Yes, i agree with you, but Beat is said to me as a Premium hatch back as suppose to Celerio is not advertised or claimed as premium hatch. If you want to compare the small hatch as a segment A then it will be fair to compare Chevrolet Beat with Tata NANO(Even it is a small city car), would you think it is a rite comparison? If GM is claiming Beat is a Premium Hatch then that should be compared to other Premium Hatch(Swift or i20 Elite or a JAZZ or Figo Aspire), not the car which is claimed to be a small hatch.
Build quality and sheet metal quality poor in all budget Maruthi.. just like a shell body... .But we think only about millage . cosmetic thinks that is Maruthi magic. Maruthi cars only looking nice..& not safe under 1000cc. ( I don't know about swift build quality ) If our Government not taking serious about car metal strength & structure, basic safety features (2air back+ABS) should from base variant, specially this types of low budget cars. otherwise that will be very danger . Mine also going strong. Did numerous highway trips in triple digits. Recently during lockdown, drove non stop 1000 km.
Beat build quality is good and ride is good but its very hard to get service

Its entirely made in india! In one year I have done 43900 kms. No complaints at all!
