Yess, Finn was stupid to think that they won't bring weapons too.. But it was their fault, Jasper fired the first shot and that's the reason they were at war afterwards
the way i see it, the writers intended to make it so they werent going to shoot and jasper was the one who ruined it, but the writing was unrealistic because they kept their bows tightened (idk what it’s called). i’m 90% sure it was a mistake or they didnt think it would matter that much, i really dont see them intending that the groundes were going to attack. i’m leaving my other arguments out because of spoilers, but one i can say is that lincoln knows his people and he wouldnt have set up the meeting if he ever thought his people would do that.

This episode really made Clarke Number 1 for me, I love the show but I have a weird love-hate relationship with every character but it was nice to see Clarke actually almost succeed at Diplomacy...then Jasper be Jasper (I do like Jasper - he gets better for me) but the decision to fire first (Not that Jasper should've been trusted with a Gun anyhow) was very reckless especially hypocritical since both sides did the same thing.

Leeauna front and center, ho- hum, agree with you that Jasper responded right in accessing the danger, firing first which may of saved a member of his group. Forgot a lot of this early stuff, tidbits here and there, refresh the memory. I would probably do the same if in Jasper shoes. I know the language (English) is a problem in a lot of science fiction shows but glad the show does not have translation subtitles( more annoying than explaining why no communication barrier....Steve, Hilarious Malachi, and Princess Leeauna, enjoy your day.
Leanna is right about them being ready to shoot (not sure if I spelled her name right) i’m not a bow and arrow expert but I do understand that bows require LOTS of strength to hold at a firing position, with the string held back ready to fire. unless that grounder is some sort of buff guy like Lincoln, he would’ve tired out his arms constantly readying and unreadying the bow, in other words I believe he was going to shoot! who he was going to shoot we don’t know but still, it was a tough call for Jasper to make alone but with adrenaline and fear of Clarke or Finn or Octavia being shot made the decision have to be quick. all in all awesome reaction! just found this channel and enjoy the thought process you all have together on the show! take care!
ive heard this argument before but i still think they either really strong, they didnt realize the strenght it would take, ot they realized but didnt think of such a small detail as a big deal. i really dont believe they intended for it to be perceived as the grounders trying to attack, i think it’s either they intended for it to be jaspers mistake or a situation where the audience just does not get an answer for.
@@changedmynamebcyallwouldnt.. yeah i agree i think them having their bows drawn was just to visually show them being very defensive but they werent intending to attack. the show isnt exactly famous for its attention to details like this (see: a ton of the medical stuff) so i doubt they thought about that or intended for the grounders to be attacking
also those guys are the literal personal guard of the clan chief i think they're gonna be about the buffest guys in the local area (maybe not an official personal guard but yk, anya's gonna bring her best warriors to such a risky meeting)
i also thought that jasper was wrong for what he did but when anya kind of smirked and said "they wouldn't be the first to try " i kind of got the vibe that she was gonaa give a signal for them to attack...honestly if i learned anything from this shows is to not trust the grounders
honestly people from the ark did so many things through the seasons, i dont want to say and spoil it for the rest of the people but grounders were way too reasonable and logical for being sauvages
There is no reason they wouldn't speak English. They are in what was once America and their ancestors would have spoken English. It hasn't been all that long.

First of all, the girl in the middle is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my entire life!! 2nd: The Grounders have the right to go to war. Because the sky people landed in their territory!!!

17:00 the river was a boundary, the grounders waited until they crossed it and only then hurt jasper. neither side was wrong.
