In this video I will be showing you how I modified my DJI Spark to less than 250g and discuss about it.
Great Job!! Can shoot a video on how you strap the modded battery onto the spark??
Also include how you put the batteries on the stock charger...
Great job! 4:31 to 4:35 - is where the magic happens. Think the step there needs some clarification!
Extra 16g was taken off from trimming off unneccesary plastics and other non-essential components.
EducateTube.com Seems to be the most complex step. would love to see what happened
Excellent job
Wao, impressive. How long the flight time last and how is the fly characters?
3-4 extra minutes more. Very stable.
You should make the spark DIY sub 250g kit . Sell on eBay and Amazon. You become millionaire.
Very useful! Do you still have the drone? is it still functional after almost 2 years since you made the video?
It stop working now because, the cooling fan broke, so it overheats after 2 minutes. However, I am using it as a remote camera (I attached a battery powered fan to it). It can act as a long distance video monitor/ video recorder from a distance of 500m+. Here is the link to my new modification: ruclips.net/video/yB9UdqN-Kn8/видео.html
@@educatetube Nice, thanx for reply!
VERY GOOD . DO YOU KNOW IF YOU CAN DO THAT breeze 4k drone THANKS
I have seen video from Breeze but the gimbal is not very good. DJI spark has a very stable 2-axis gimbal.
Thank you for the content!
Would you mind sharing how do you charge the modded battery, power it up, and put it on?
Thanks man!
Basically I carefully removed the plastics from the battery making sure not to damage any circuit board of the battery. The battery is aligned to the drone and fit tightly with elastic bands. That's it!
ya sure lets have dust jammed along with all the sensitive electronic parts. not just dust, even the static from your hands can kill the electronics.
Hello! Highly! Very interesting experiment! And very relevant! May I ask? How does the device work without a cooler now? No overheating? And how do you measure temperature?

I ended up putting in the fan. You can also place the external fan just below it.
Hi,
I'm getting JJRX X9, which is a cheap copy of the Spark.
It weights 257g.
Do you think I can cut 8g, without taking all those parts you took of?
I mean, maybe sanding some plastic parts, for example?
Most likely but I don't know about JJRX X9 drone.
wow this is insane, I have a spark. and I live in canada so basically can I fly it as of June 1st?
The original DJI Spark is 304g but I modified to 249g. As long as it is less 250g, yes, you can fly it without registering it but you still have to be safe. Always use common sense.
Louis Luzuka it’s 5$ to register and 10$ for basic certification you can do it online in the comfort of your home it’s so easy.
@@DroneJunkieRc But it , is not so easy in different countries ...
Now you have this flyer more prone to damage to its delicate circuits...pay all that money for it then rip it apart...makes no sense. Just to get around the laws...
This is my backup DJI Spark that is already has some cracks on the frame. Nothing is lost instead I modified it to less than 249g (microdrone) and do the job it intended to do... fly closer than 5m from people. I have the new DJI Spark, Mavic Air, Phantom 4 Pro V2 and Mavic 2 Pro... and now BB Spark (my modified DJI Spark). I have covered all my basis. Aerial videographer's dream.
Im in usa and registered my spark with faa about a year ago. If i do this mod and make it under 250 grams i think it becomes a "toy" and does not need registered...???
I would like to know rules about autonomous flight and also visual line of sight rules. Thanks for great video
I know nothing about the US drone rules but in Canada if your drones less 250g you just need to fly safely and away from airport.
@@educatetube autonomous?
That was very interesting, I knew someone would make this happen. Thanks for sharing.
No problem.
None of this is going to matter. The FAA will drop the weight limit once manufacturers start producing sub 250g units.
Thanks for this useful tutorial. I just can't see in the video how you take its weight from 266 to 248 gr.
You don't have to modify the spark, DJI has now come out with Mavic Mini (under 250g).
@@educatetube That's not a good answer. I am sorry.
❤🎉😮😊. ไฟไฟไฟแอดพ์.
@EducateTube.com What is the flight time after weight reduced?
14 to 15min. About 2 min more.
@@educatetube THX. Not bad but I expected more because 50 grams is a big weight reduce.
Can you get it to 240g so I can add a strobe and some legs
The lowest weight I can modify is 245g. I think lower weight than this, it will break the drone. ; )
I love your video, do you think it is possible to close the battery again and that it is functional? Thanks
Yes, it is possible but it requires that you remove the plastic casing carefully without damaging it. Otherwise you may need to 'crazy glue' it or 3D print for a new casing to replace it.
why should I touch the drone itself? Battery weights more than 9x g. Redesign the battery to less than 48g, you should get below 250g.
If you reduced the battery weight (battery capacity) than you will have less flight time. Currently, the battery lasts only 12-14min of flight time. I can not imagine it being less than 10 min of flight time if they modify the battery to lower the weight.
I think this is an interesting thing because it would be better reduce battery capacity Without destroy the drone
DJI mini 2 is out now !!!
DJI Mini 2 does not have follow me or active track feature like the DJI Spark.
@@educatetube what about the Holystone 720E
@@tahirahmed33 I only have DJI products: Spark, Mavic Air, Mavic 2 pro, and Phantom 4 Pro V2. I don't know any other types of drones.
Cool video but the registration is only 5$
And basic license 10$ quick and very easy online exam. It’s a sin to destroy your beautiful little Spark. Your Breaking my heart ✋😂🤚
I know but I had to sacrifice DJI Spark for the ability to fly closer than 30m and over people (in Canada). It is worth it. I actually got two more DJI sparks! I pretty much cover my basis. DJI Phantom 4 pro v2 and Phantom 4 for windy day and serious aerial filming. Mavic Air for 4k footage and DJI Spark for 1080p footage. BB Spark for up and personal aerial footage. : )
EducateTube.com ahh ok I get it. In that case. 😂
I have 1 Mavic Pro and 2 Sparks I just love them to pieces (no pun intended) 👍
Awesome! Drone on.
*subbed* say hello to your new subscriber *subbed* much love from vancouver canada
Thanks. If your drone is less than 250g than it is considered as "microdrone". According to Transport Canada, you don't need to register it but still need to fly safely. Use common sense as your guide.
The video should bear the title "how to destroy a drone" complete nonsense forcibly reducing mass.
But it works. Well, now you don't have to... there is the Mavic Mini. : )
this id not DJI SPARK, this is just a drone now ))))
It is a Spark (sup-up) without the weight but with power and technology. The best of both worlds.
@@educatetube yeah sure....as you say....
Spark V1.9
dont do this... first its ugly and will get dirt in it and well if you cant afford 5 dollars every 3 years dont bother flying its not like there making you buy insurance or pay 200 dollars to fly...
With microdrone you are exempted from 30m limit. I will make a video on that soon. Even if you have advance pilot license with dji drones (250g to 25kg), you can not fly closer than 30m to bystander. (New Canadian Drone Law 2019).
Go back to the movies Clint Eastwood!
its the same law flying the drown you stil have obey the rules as a drone of any size all it meanis you dont have to register it ib the uk
It is different in Canada. Cautious and common sense flying is the only law for drone under 250g in Canada.
