Why? What about it exactly? It must be unsurprising to you that most people consider Trellick one of the ugliest buildings in the country. I'm curious as to what Brutalism lovers find so appealing about it.
Designed and erected during the height of the US Apollo Moon Landing Program, the elevation is highly evocative of a large "rocket" (service tower) sitting on the launch pad, attached to its "gantry" (main building) by multiple umbilical cords... plus that scheme is just a great idea for fire safety, noise isolation, etc
UNlike many other tower blocks of that era which were shabbily built with pre-fabricated "Large Panel Systems" (LPS), such as the infamous Ronan Point, etc., Goldfinger's many towers (Trellick, Balfron, Carradale, Glenkerry) were all built with Cast-in-Place (CIP) concrete of generous dimensions, and will stand indefinitely... with reasonable maintenance.
@@petitpois8813 still the ugliest building I've ever seen. It's an eyesore and it's the only tall building around for several miles in its surroundings which means it sticks out as an arrogant, brown shit.
I love this tower! 👍
Love that building, such great architecture!
As soon as I saw that building I fell in love with it.

I love Brutalism
Thats the 21st floor
That’s the floor we lived on
Truly, the ugliest building I've ever seen.
The rooms inside, are huge. Not like the match boxes they have now.
