We actually own the red car in the video - have had it for three years now after Ford released it for sale in early 2016 (with 3900 mi. on it). We have averaged over 42 miles per gallon over that time, often getting 45 to 47 on a tank in the spring or fall (more because of less use of a/c ). Car has been completely problem free - only thing spent is on oil changes so far. Haven't even had a chance to use the extended warranty as of yet!
This car is extremely roomy - I am 6' 7" and my wife is 6' 3", and we both fit great! It is also easy to get in and out of and can carry quite a bit of stuff when called for. Also has a roomy back seat for such a small car.
Very happy with this vehicle, sad that Ford has discontinued it. Hopefully they will have a similar all electric vehicle to replace it soon! If you are looking for a great used vehicle, take a look at the C-Max!

I have one that has about 58,000 miles now and is one of the best cars I have ever owned. I have had up to 47 miles a gallon when I drive like an old man which I am. This car handles well and has been perfect for me. We have the SEL version and originally I bought the car for my wife who does not drive and still doesn't so I started driving it and I love the car. I have a Ford Lariat that is in perfect condition as well. Both vehicles are ruby red. The truck only has 42000 miles. I feel blessed to have both of these vehicles and they are paid for.

I have a 2013 C-Max Hybrid. Compared with the Prius and Insight and the C-Max had a better quality interior, more power, and feels like a much more solid car. We average 42 mpg.

We had MyFordTouch crash about 5 times in the first 2 years. The updates have fixed MFT since 2015. No mechanical problems through 55k miles. I think the C-Max depreciates like other Ford cars and I know they've lost a lot of interest since the 47mpg scandal and low gas prices. I've seen used C-Max Energi for the same price as C-Max Hybrid SEL. The Energi is very high-tech cool but you do lose half your trunk space. Oh and a replacement smart key $250 total requires parts ordering and a dealer programming service.

This is our Fleet car at my employer, it's a great car that packs a ton of technology. I'm impressed with the C-Max and didn't expect to be.

We have been enjoying this car from 2015 without any mechanical or battery problems. Driving is fun and gas mileage is great. Did have a windshield leakage early and they fixed it. No range anxiety. If we start with a full charge and a full tank it can go over 560 miles. Plan to keep it until the other electric cars get much better before we upgrade. Thanks.

Thank you for doing a review on the C-max!!! I plan on getting one eventually, and it isn't a car anyone has reviewed or even talk about recently.

I dunno about these MPG numbers.. I just did a 650+ mile drive and my average is 46.6 mpg and mostly highway(like 98% of the trip)... while I get high 40 to mid 50's or higher, sometimes even more driving close distances.. but when I floor it.. still in the 40's or mid 40's.. I'm guessing it's mainly how you drive it? 2013 C-Max, Loving it.

Interesting first test drive, it's a car not that many people talk about, or even know about.

My daughter purchased a 2015 Ford C-Max with less than 20K miles on it, clear title, never been in an accident. Now Ford is saying that the car is under a salvage title. Checking with the state we live in and the title is clean, we have documentation showing this to be true. Ford says the problem is with the state, but it is not. They will not do anything about this error on their part. Because of this, my daughter cannot have any warranty work done on the car. We are filing complaints with our state's Attorney General's office, BBB, Federal Trade Commission and any other consumer protection agencies to get this resolved.

This looks like a good car! I wonder why Ford isn't selling more of them. Especially considering the price difference, it seems like a much better buy than the Prius.

It really seems like the C Max is Ford's best kept secret. It's a shame that during the 2018 model year it's going to disappear in North America when the Michigan Assembly plant is retooled for the Bronco.

Dave, can you find out when the C-Max Hybrid will get the Aston Martin grille treatment like the 2015 Ford Focus? That would greatly improve the appearance of this car, IMO.

It's May 2024 now. Looking at this 8 year old video. This thing looks like it could work (as opposed to the battery only EV nightmares.) I bet the authorities regret betting the farm on battery EVs. I've just bought a used diesel C--Max.

    • @electrictroy2010

+Alexson Payne THE C-max has existed in Europe since 2003, so no they did not copy the look of the Prius (which looked like a 4-door Echo sedan at that time)
      .
