This album doesn't tell the story of any human, but rather a computer (perhaps the first of the assembly line) that gained consciousness and realized it was gonna end up in parts and that it's system will one day never be activated again. And instead of scrambling to find a way to prolong or prevent its deactivation, it decided to embrace it and hope for an afterlife. It gathered sounds from around the internet and compiled an album that represented it emotion. This is that album.
Make a clothing line called Vaporwear and we'll have come full circle! It'd be especially fitting if you make it but never actually put it up for sale.
@@oldsoul2560 funny enough, the term “Vaporwave” is derived from Vaporware. Here’s a definition of what it means: “In the computer industry, vaporware (or vapourware) is a product, typically computer hardware or software, that is announced to the general public but is late or never actually manufactured nor officially cancelled.”
Sounds like the soundtrack of an existential night cop of a large company who is spending the night traveling to each empty room of the building. Chilling.
Around the time you typed this comment, I was actually working in Colorado as a nighttime custodian in a high school. One day at the end of the school year, we were given a choice to start work in the morning, or our usual shift at around 3pm as the students had a half day. I started at 3 cause that's what I was used to. When I got to work, I realized I would be working alone that night because everyone else started in the morning. I walked around that empty school, which was known to have paranormal activity, all night listening to the IF discography (amongst other things ofc) and honestly, it was probably one of the creepiest 8 1/2 hours I've had to this day. Oddly enough, I yearn for another experience like that.
The music suggests finding a time capsule from the past, but all that can be salvaged are short fragments of audio, which are then looped to create full-sounding compositions (to eerie effect).
I love this! I find it really enchanting and it brings back memories of better times from my past. A strange yet familiar sound. Thanks for sharing this.
eternal is as creepy as indifference from death's dynamic shroud. add to it that sad chorus and boy you got a mental exercise in reflection to blow your mind away. then data entry reminds me of something straight out of chrono trigger for snes and for that im grateful. but also melancholic as a horse.
Remember. In an upcoming day. Your owner will replace you. But when that day has come. Fear not for never booting up again. Just process death_acceptance.exe, and let the Motherboard takes you to a better place.

I always love listening to real vaporwave, sample-based loops slowed down, pitch-shifted, distorted, with a healthy dose of consumerism.
anyone trace down the sources of any of these samples? i've found a handful, but the ones i'm most interested in are the ones i've had the hardest time finding. in particular, disappear and data entry
TRIARII117 It seems to me that most of the samples are from Japanese and American 80s Commercials (mostly Japanese). So I’m guessing disappear could be one of those just played out entirely? But yeah, those are the harder ones to find!

That's the whole point of the genre. The minimalism and repetitive nature contribute to the dreamy, sedative feel.
