  • A couple of selected clips taken from the ringing morning which welcomed the new Lord Mayor to his position on the 12th November 2022.
From what was a couple of hours of varying ringing varieties with around 20 to 30+ ringers present at points, I decided to go upstairs and watch the back 8 being rung down, as well as Grandsire Cinques and several leads of plain hunt. Some of the bells are particularly challenging and hard work, they are a little mushy and we were competing with continuous parades outside, which made for a somewhat challenging ringing environment. The sound and sight upstairs and inside was amazing though and they are one very fine ring of bells indeed.
Also included is the start of a more successful course of Stedman Cinques.

My dad Ernie Rowe was a bell hanger ar Whitechapel along with Bill Theobald and they hung Bow in 1961,I was 8.
I clearly remember going with my sister to Bow for a try out.
Where the door to the belfry is was a wooden boxed in cubicle with glass and dad told me it was for a a BBC cameraman.
There was a an external chiming hammer on the tenor, it was mounted on top of the frame vertically so the bell could be chimed whilst the tenor was up by Prince Phillip.
Bow are a great sounding peal of bells.
