When I was graduating high school in the 70's the local furniture store and Lane company gave all the girls a free little cedar chest with a discount coupon to come to come in and buy furniture as it was assumed that we would all get married immediately lol. I think that happened for a couple decades before that too.
I , likewise, received one in 1969!
I too
I still have mine, 1973
With a special emphasis on purchasing large cedar chests as hope chests
@@bethb7965 me too, 1973
Jeffery, you crack me up! Aroom for just chairs, chairs that you can put in a circle, so you can share your feeling together. Such bonding.🤣🤣🤣
The little lane boxes were given away in my home town to the girls when they graduated from high school.
Same here Rita, I still have mine. Graduate 1975.
Nice, my boyfriend gave me a full sized Hope Chest, because his best friend had given one to his girl 😂😂
The Lane mini chests used to be given to girls graduating from high school. My late Mom had one she got in the 50s.🇨🇦
I got mine when I graduated in 1976.
I also was given one by a local furniture store when I graduated high school in the ‘90s. We’ve picked up a few more at estate sales for $1-$3 each.
They sent a card to senior girls to bring in the store & get your free chest.
I have my mom’s cedar box too. 😊
I got mine in 1977.
I'm from Central New York state, and back in (at least) the 1950's through 1970s, the Lane cedar boxes were given to girls graduating from high school by local furniture stores. I believe the idea was to help plant the seed that the girl would eventually want a Lane hope chest.
Yes I got one of those cedar boxes from Lane in 1977 when I graduated...but never bought the big ones...I had a large whicker trunk I got from Pier One that I used for my hope chest..I kept with all kinds of things in it for when I got married ...my husband has the cedar little box on his dresser with his goodies in it...
GREAT MORE ESTATES SALES. 👍👍❤️🙏🇨🇦
I graduated in the 80's in Central NY and got one as well!
Jeffery, you crack me up!! You can be so hilarious 😂😂 Loving these estate sales in The Villages. Have an awesome day😊
Jeffrey you made me laugh at the "pie fillers". You are such a love, to watch
The "chair room" made me laugh out loud. If I keep finding and buying mcm chairs... I may have a real chair room 😂
😂😂😂😂 very
At our high school graduation we were given a miniature lane cedar chest exactly like the one in this video. I believe it was in hopes that we would purchase a large one. This was a tradition at our high school for as long as I can remember.
It was a great marketing strategy to get you to buy a hope chest. We all got them too.
Jeffery, I really enjoy hearing how knowledgeable you are on so many terms regarding the different types of items. Also, You're commentary cracks me up sometimes😂LOL . Thanks, I've learned something new in almost every video!✨ 🤩
I would have purchased some of those red ceramic pieces and definitely the green Hull small pot for just $4.00. Nice and unique design. Even if left empty.
I loved the red ceramic pieces! So many things I would have bought! I don’t have the self control that Jeffrey does, lol. That’s why I have too much stuff!!
I noticed how clean those planters were. Jeffrey should have purchased those. Guess not his taste since moving to FL.
Good morning, have a great day everyone!!! Thanks for video
Hi Jeffery, fun shopping with you and hearing about the pieces you look at ! Thank you 😊
The lane box is a give away. Our local store gave them to all the high school senior girls hoping it would bring them in to buy a hope chest.
Jefferey, I'm so happy to see more of you thrifting videos. Love seeing all the neat things you see and buy. Your hilarious little comments always crack me up. I have to laugh every time at them. Would love to see more kayaking videos with Liam, if that's possible. He was funny too. That river was so peaceful and quiet, monkeys didn't worry me too much, unless one would have jumped from a tree in the kayak, lol But I was all for leaving when I saw the alligator. Reminded me of Jaw's---We need a bigger boat. lol There sure are a lot of estate sales there. But still no table. Hopefully one day soon. Good Luck
That plasticware was definitely vintage. The thick, sturdy quality - not made like that anymore. They would look cute in a summer kitchen display! The colors were fabulous.
When I graduated from high school in 1980, we all were given the lane boxes as a gift😀
I would have gotten the orange vase and tried some cleaning techniques. Mostly out of curiosity and some for experience. $3 is worth an experiment! Lol…
Would the denture cleaner work on the calcium buildup do you think 🤷♀️
I think, Tiffany would really like the amber vase.
I think you’re right about the little cedar boxes. I think it was a great use of smaller pieces of cedar left from making the chests.
Jeffrey found Jesus instead of money 😂😂😂
I hope so!! 🙏
😂😅
I will be looking for the change…not from money but from Jesus!

Hi Jeffrey, I love watching your videos and I love your sense of humor! I received one of the little cedar chests for free from a furniture store when I graduated highschool ❤
I’m glad you said it was black depression glass. I assumed it was just 1970’s. Every day’s a school day with me 😂
The cedar chests were given away to high school graduates. You would get a coupon at school, and go to the store to pick up your chest. I still have mine from '85. I'm glad you got the black glass. That's my favorite. 😊
You are right about the Lane chests being a giveaway when you purchase a large cedar chest. Love your idea about the chair room!!!
Cedar boxes: Everyone who graduated from our high school got one of those upon graduation. It had the Lane stamp inside it, in addition to a stamp of our local furniture store. I got mine in 1981.
I also received an identical cedar box upon graduating high school in 1970. It was great advertising to encourage our parents to buy a cedar chest either for a graduation gift or bridal gift. I still use mine to store tea bags. Perfect size!
Looking at spoons….how did I get to this part of my life….and the pie fillers. Just love it.
Love your commentary as you thrift! You make me laugh as I’m learning!
Me too! 😂 😊 🎉
Good morning Jeffery. You've really moved to a good area to source inventory.
Have a great weekend. Thanks Jeffrey. I appreciate you telling us about items and price. Seems there's a lot of estate sales I'm Florida. Hum
In my neighborhood they use American Flags to hedge around yard for 4th of july.. Looks really nice, thanks for sharing
Love the explanation for having a dedicated chair room!!! 🎈
😂😂
Yes, the lane cedar keepsake boxes were given out as graduation gifts for the girls in their community. Each participating furniture store had a supply and would give them away along with a percentage off of lane cedar chests. I worked in a furniture store in the late 70's and have 1 myself from when I graduated in '82.
Fun☆ Fun☆ Fun☆ Can't wait for tonight's sale!!
Graduating senior girls where I lived always received a free Lane box. I still have mine. The furniture companies wanted you to come into their store to consider purchasing a hope chest. My younger sister purchased one. I have my aunt's chest.
The Liberty sales you go to seem to be rather expensive.
true story...i listen to your videos while i work. absolutely love your commentary. many times i find myself literally LOL. thank you for your company during my work days :)
I love your humor 😂
Hi. When we graduated from high school (1979) we all got a lane cedar box for free! Really cool.
When I graduated High School in 1981 the local furniture store gave each girl a Lane jewelry box, it was an incentive to buy their large cedar trunks.
My goodness you had me thinking what can we do with that chair room 😂😂there was a lot of good things again have a wonderful day Jeffery and Stella 🦋🦩🦋🦩
Great wit 😂
The little Lane chests were given to young women graduating from high school. (Barry, from the channel Mad City Modern, went and visited the defunct Lane factory, and learned a lot from the locals.)
omg u cracked me up about everyone should have a chair room 😂😂😂
oh my goodness i spit my soup out when you went into the room of chairs you are so funny!!
Oh Jeffrey the room with the chairs you had me in fits of laughter sounded like a real therapist.

I got a free Lane cedar chest when I graduated from High School. They were free to all graduates.
the lane boxes were given to girls in the 70s as a graduation gift to entice them to by hope chests i still have mine grad in 1975 and i know they did it for years before me too but not sure of the time span
I love the chair room suggestions ^_^ Every day you make me laugh. I often wonder if anyone walking around the estate sale hears your comments too
You are correct, I got one with my lane cedar chest in the 80s
I wish you had found more. Still fun to watch!
"Boy I'm good" 😂
Yes you are, & funny too. Thats why we watch you. :)
He Jeffrey, Always look forward to these great Estate Sales...you really know your stuff & the humor is too funny! Really enjoy the laughs and fun outings at these beautiful homes! 💓 💖
The little black tidbit tray looked like an ashtray to me.
I got my cedar Lane box when I graduated high school, everyone got one from a local furniture store.
" Room full of chairs" really cracked me up!😂😅
The mini Lane cedar chest I have was given to my senior class upon graduation. Not sure where they came from though. Still have mine with the jewelry in it that I wore in high school.
May i make a request…is it possible to see more of your antique store shopping please. Not complaining just miss those vids. Thanks for all
Every house should have a chair 🪑 room I agree. I love it. ✌️🌻
I got my Lane cedar box when I graduated high school. I also have the one my Mother received when she graduated in 1955. They were gifts from a local furniture store to all graduates.
Yes the cedar boxes were give aways. I don't remember what store, but it was for graduation. Many, many years ago.
Enjoy my mornings with you. Could the first Lenox crystal vase be a pitcher?
The cedar box was a gift to graduating senior girls by the local furniture store. At least that's how I received mine.
Hi Jeffrey, Yes the little Lane cedar box was a gift from my local furniture store in Ohio. I received my f
...received mine for high school graduation. And yes, every home needs a room for chairs!!!! Love the estate sales!!!!❤
you are right about the cedar box.
It was a lovely chair room. Thank you for pointing that out😂
I grew up and graduated high school here in Jacksonville, Florida. We received the little Lane Cedar Chest as a graduation gift back in 1980. I'm not sure if they are still given. Mine still sits on my dresser.
The fused glass dish looks pretty cool I've never heard of that before but I like it great video as always jeefrey❤❤❤
Thanks for making me laugh today! I needed it after receiving some damaged merchandise. Not from you, lol.
Lane little box was a giveaway when I graduated high school in the 70’s. Furniture stores wanted to introduce us to owning a Hope chest.
They were given away to girls when they were seniors. A local furniture store would sponsor them. It was to try and get you to buy a real hope chest.
I have one of those cedar chests from when I graduated from high school in 1994. We all got one for signing a D.A.R.E pledge before graduation. I keep a few keepsakes from high school/college in it.
CedarBoxes were given as a gift to Senior girls in High School…at least in the South, don’t know about other parts of the US..at least in the 60’s.
But you can wipe your bottom with a corn cob! Yep! When my mom was little before they had plumbing…that’s what they used! 🌽
The spoons...how did I get to this part in my life?!? Omg that made me laugh. Cause....ya I'm at the same part LOL. I love watching your videos. 😊😂
In Virginia all the graduating girls from high school received a small Lane Cedar chest from the local furniture dealer. 1970’s. Exactly the same as the one you found.
I got one of those little Lane boxes when I graduated from high school. They gave them free.
Yes, everybody needs a chair room - wouldn't be home without one😁👍👏
Enjoyed the video Jeffrey lots of great things
Thank you for clarifying what kind of pea hahaha I have you plating in the background while I clean and I was very concerned
I graduated in 1972, and a local furniture store gave all the graduating girls a free small Lane cedar chest. They were sure handy to put my graduation tassle, program, etc. in.
Enjoy watching you look around. Question: why aren’t you buying many things lately? You keep passing in some amazing pieces. The ones you do pickup are very small. I know shipping is a pain but you used to pickup some amazing bigger better items. Just curious.
Those lane cedar boxes were usually given to senior girls.... It was so they might buy a lane cedar chest for their hope chest.
I got my cedar box when I graduated from high school. They called them hope chests here in KS.
In 1976 I graduated high school. All the girls got a lane cedar chest like that one. I still have mine. My son when he was little did his mom a favor and scratched his mom name on it.
I got one from my boy friend ! ❤❤❤
The chair room looks like an AA meeting. Yes, the mini Lane chest was a giveaway when you bought a cedar chest. Big promotion when I was graduating from high school.
Thank you for info
Girls graduating high school back in the day would be gifted the small cedar chest from a local furniture store. Probably paid for from the school. I still have mine. Has a key with it also. 1980
I bought a Lane chest in the 70s & got the little box for free. So it is true.
The tall birds are Herons. They are all over Fl in those man made mud pits along the freeways and home communities.
Lime away toilet cleaner will get the calcification out of that (Jolly Rancher 🤣) orange vase
In Central CA, back in the 70’s, we got one free if we went into
the furniture store when you graduated from high school. Girls got married earlier back then😂
That was a nice sale. They had some nice furniture
The little Lane chests were given to high school (girl) graduates, in hopes they'd buy the big chests to put their 'hopes' in. I still have mine.
Wow they really do sell everything at these estate sales, even almost empty bottles of Dawn 🤣
I thought i was the only one that doesn't drink wine 😂 I just dont like the taste. Yuck
I only like the sweet, practically like sugar 😁.
We got those little cedar boxes when I was a senior (1972) .. I guess it was with hopes of buying a chest ( maybe a hope chest😂)
I still have mine… I am 70 yrs young😅
Review the definition of stained glass.
I received a small Lane cedar chest when I graduated high school in 1979!
Hi Jeffrey., always fun to spend time with you. If that little cedar box was marked LANE, I would be willing to bet it was a salesman sample for the larger cedar chest that were so common back in the day. Fun to see and wish I would have been with you that day LOL Keep on being you sweetie..
