Wonderful design. The guy that designed this (back when it was the Valkyrie) did a fantastic job. Too bad the "well under 2000 euros" price didn't land but that's probably due to Waldorf distribution. Sounds great and thanks Daniel Fisher for the excellent demonstration.
@John Johnson having owned 2 vintage Seqetials and a vintage Korg plus 2 Elektrons and Rolands etc I just am really impressed with waldorf sounds. I sold all my synths I didn't love them enough to keep them, but I feel I'd keep blowwfeld and kyra
I love it. Sounds amazing and looks amazing and has an amazing set of features. But for the price of this + a midi controller, you could buy a Prologue and the new Argon8 or Hydrasynth and get the best of both worlds. Definitely not an easy decision.
For me, I can only do so much with huge sounds, I would like to see if it can do a techno set with its multitimbral features. If the synth can equal the cost of 3 or four other hardware synths then it would be worth the investment.
I have a dumb question Daniel...i have looked in the manual and haven’t found a latch or hold setting for the arpeggiator. Does it have that feature? It would seem obvious at 3300 australian dollars.. just wondering.
Hi Michael. It's been about seven months since I recorded that video and returned the prototype but... I might have done it by holding down the Sustain Pedal. Thanks for watching!
Hi. Waldorf kyra vs hydrasynth question: which is more versatile, oscilators filters (putting effects aside)? Which sound more realistic? Which would you buy if you could have only one synth and nothing else? Thanks!
i played it today for hours.....brutal sick synth!!!!!!! never saw a synth that soild buid!!!!!! doesn't have the money at the moment.... maybe i should wait fot the behringer clone!
The feature galore calls for a randomizer on every setting. I mean.. who actually goes in and combines waveform 3259 with waveform 28 and waveform 1569 with just one dial to go through all of them.. and then also find a frame they like.. etc. i think options is good, but too much choice can drag you down.
This video is pretty clever. Daniel is so talented and such a good presenter that he almost makes you forget that this synth doesn’t sound all that special. Explains why the video is only 12 minutes long, mostly talking.
I agree. The synth has a wealthy amount of features and seems to perform very well, however It just sounds very generic doing it. The price tag kinda adds insult to injury. There are synths that cost far less and to my ears, sound so much more inspiring.
Fawkk YuTuu idk, yeah the 70’s and 80’s are definitey filled with classics but there is just an absolute PLETHORA of top notch synths and modules coming out these days and people are actually interested in them now. In fact I’m planning on starting a synth company it’s becoming so popular
Another great demo by Daniel. Its a shame about the marketing Waldorf is doing with this synth. They kind of just lobbed it into market. With the other amazing synths that came out this year, this one may flop. The hydrasynth(while limited to 8 voices) seems 1000 times more exciting than the Kira.
Exactly. And after that, Waldorf managed to make synths that are characterless. And that is again the case with the Quantum & Iridium. Tons of features, but meh sound.
Waldorf goes too far in creating complexity in an effort to simplify. I miss having all controls represented by an individual knob. Even their Nave software is guilty of concentrating multiple controls to a single knob, despite software having no hardware costs to account for. It makes no sense. Sad, cause they are my favorite synth. Immediately recognizable and organic sounds. Nothing sounds as alive as a Waldorf.
Is it just me, or does Kyra somehow, some way, sound deeper, richer, more dynamic, and at times (gasp!) more analog than the Quantum? Maybe there’s a lot of lazy Quantum programmers out there?
Hi alphabeets . There are two filters available that can each be High Pass, Band Pass, or Low Pass, giving you plenty of power to significantly remove or reduce any undesired frequencies in the audio spectrum. There's also a Parametric EQ available in the Effects section. Thanks for watching!
Owned the original Microwave ❤️❤️❤️❤️, I still have my old XTK ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and briefly owned Blofeld 💩💩💩💩💩. This desktop does nothing that moves me. Waldorf needs to move on ...
Alex Becker really depends on your price point and sonic tastes. If you’re willing to spend for a Kyra you might consider a Prophet 12 or Rev2 16 voice
absolutely nothing new... so much marketing?? The sound are so cold and sterile and with a buddy speaking for almost six minutes, really to go far away...
Not everyone is a cheapass that goes for VST plugins that don’t hardly sound as good as these things, you also don’t get the feel and inspiration at your finger tips because your lazy ass wants to click with a mouse. You might as well complain about DAW control surfaces as being pointless when you can just as easily use your bitch mouse and click and drag the fader in your DAWz
Yeah, I think that always dealing with PC's, DAW's and getting everything just right all the time, becomes a drag. Then again, this synth is a module, and I'd rather have the keys, too.
These Sweetwater demos are arguably some of the best RUclips has to offer and the vast majority of people agree. He’s talking ABOUT the synth. It’s not like he’s giving an oral history exam. Jfc is your mind so small you can’t handle a couple of minutes of someone explaining the features of the synth IN the video before playing it? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Daniel, get yourself a utility vest, a pair of shooting glasses, and a polo shirt. You could be Walter from Lebowski.
YOU'RE OUTTA YER DEPTH DONNY
Dawnchaser element
@@HotStrange oh yeah, yer right lol
He had a portrait of Walter Sobchak in one of his videos.
💯💯🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been checking every day for new Kyra vids, thank you sweetwater.
👍😊
sound quality is stunning

Just a quick note of appreciation... love your presentation style and depth of knowledge. You are very good at what you do.
Thank you, Scott! That was nice of you to say. -_Daniel_
one of the best sounding synths out there ,a true future classic..only downside is I will need too save up a long time to buy one.
Best Kyra demo yet, Thanks.
I would love a version with keys
Waldorf are the absolute Kings of Synths no contest

@John Johnson thanks for the advice much appreciated
Sounds incredible. The want is strong with this one.
yes, I feel it!
@@eugenepetrovich6611 I sense the dark side is strong in this one...
Kyra means "beautiful girl" in ancient greek. This synth seems to have the right name for what it is.
Damn my head hurts after that description 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Amazingly versatile for a desktop module. 👍🏽
The keyboard player for Dream Theatre will surely have one by now.
this and squarp pyramid seems like perfect combo
Overall very nice hardware. There are some many characteristics I like and others I don’t...but for the most part, it’s impressive.
incredible

This does remind me of my old Virus C but much cleaner. I’m really curious to hear what kinds of overdriven sounds it’s capable of.
Why? Digital overdrive is nothing to write home about.
Volod & Mir Tell that you my Kemper and Torcido.

tone at 8:05.
I had so much anticipation for this synth but ended up losing it. Now I'm like, wow.

Love this box.... it's on the list.
Does it have any low end sounds? Basses or leads?
How I wanted Virus Ti to sound and never did.. Such a fresh rich modern sound this Kyra ..
I was transported to the first time I heard Tangerine Dream.
can it do more than pads?
Anyone know if it can be rack mounted?
Hardware has sure come a long way....almost as good a large Reason combinator patch😎amazing

Some great pads but the continuous panning throughout the demo is making me feel ill.
Wowwwww

The Golden Age of Synths has now become the Platinum Age of Synths! My GAS is now permanent...
*The GAS is real!*
the golden age of synths seems like the 70's and 80's.

no chats, SOUNDS!
Omnisphere 2 in hardware form!
Have to agree with you there. Omnisphere 2+ is hard to beat.
@@VickersDoorter Yeah bring it to a gig with a laptop that scares me
This looks like a Giant version of Access Virus. I wonder if this is going to compete with Novation Peak? This sounds expensive.
It’s not. The Peak is an 8 voice analog poly.
@@volod3mir oscillators aren't analog though, but yeah different needs. I liked voice spread on the peak but this has better stereo options it seems 😜
I can finally sound like Vangelis, without having to rob 14 banks to afford the equipment...
Wolfgang Palm?
No keyboard version so not for me otherwise, definitely want
almost feels like an Access Virus, but the Virus still sounds greater :D
Keep believing that :)
@@Emiel1983Schoonoord my ears say that very clearly... have you tried the virus?
My favs were the Virus A and B.
Virus Aliases horribly

Too many synths and not enough money!😊😊😊😊😊
Not even enough lifetime !!
very hissy sound..lacks in low end in my opinion..
Is this a new access virus by another name?
That plugin comparison was very silly
