Nice match up here, nice to see all the fans at game with lots mix between Brazil and USA, Brazils goals were really nice goals, all good plays and all pretty good stars too. NIce to see. USA got a cool goal for there crowd which was nice, they could have easily had a few more in 2nd half but got a bit unlucky and Brazil goalie was pretty good there, nice to see friendlies like this. Good stuff.
More time? In 20 years we have gone from happy to be at the world cup to kings of concacaf and a quarterfinal world cup run and a runner up in confederations cup and winning a world cup group. Imagine what we can do in the next 20
Sean S. Not all sports, there’s cricket, rugby, wrestling, boxing all those sports, in which the USA is definitely not best at, you are great at American Football, but no other country plays that on a professional level.
the second half KILLED ME. i was at the game right behind the goal the US was trying to score in and it was sooo frustrating to see so many close chances! but well played US and Brazil!
that's true. i'm not on age to remember that (actually i was born in 1982), but i hear stories about that legendary team. it is much more beloved then, for example, our national team from 1994, which actually won the worldcup, but with a way of playing not that beautiful (zagalo and parreira were too deffensive).
Dempsey is the greatest American player i've seen. He has great vision of game, great passing, nice dribbling and scoring skills. USA's football team has never been so strong, i've seen they playing in Natal, in the WC 2014 and Dempsey scored in the first minute! Greetings from Brazil, 5 times champions of the world.
They missed a lot of players but the squad they used was still pretty good. Their goal keeper played well and maybe after Cesar retires he'll get more action.
deep down i knew we couldnt win the game without being at full strength, im highly optimistic after seeing the way the players are beginning to shape the offense jurgen has created for our USMNT. I agree the midfield looks good, i thought having edu in the game was a mistake because you had michael bradley already playing CDM maybe adding cameron in the back and holden for edu in the future
The weird thing about this... if not for some spectacular goalkeeping by Brazil and some bad luck on the crossbar, that game ends in a 4-4 draw. And yet, when you look at the rosters, the number of guys in that US side that haven't got a prayer of going to the World Cup -- Onyewu, Bocanegra, Cherundolo, Edu, Gomez, Torres... and that's just the starters... and three of the four defenders. Am I willing to say that some combination of Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, Geoff Cameron, DeMarcus Beasley and Fabian Johnson are better right now than Gooch, Boca and Cherundolo ever were? No... not really. But they for sure looked a lot tighter last time we saw them than the defense did in this match. The arrows for the US are definitely pointing up right now... the only question is how high.
This game was the first game I enjoyed watching under Klinsmann. It was attacking positive football and not "bunker Bob" mentality of defending for your life and then trying to counter attack. May have lost the game, but it was a joy to watch. Like you said, it could have been 4-4, but let's just enjoy the game for what it was. The team is improving. I'm excited about how they do in Brazil. Win or lose, I will be happy. Not much is expected of the US, so there isn't too much pressure on them to get out of the group.
eep poo doo doo. You really don't understand how unpopular football is compared to other sports in the US. I don't really care about a U-23 squad for Brazil or not. The USMNT is improving. The message that I want to convey to you is that I don't really care about winning or losing against better footballing nations. I want the team to compete and play an attacking game instead of defending for their lives and maybe attacking 4 or 5 times in a game. I don't expect the US to be a dominant force in football, but I do want the team to be positive in play. THAT is the point, not the final score. You're probably a kid, so you won't understand how terrible USMNT was compared to this game 20 years ago.
Honestly, we can't say that we didn't expect a loss to the most successful national team in history, but to lose by this much can only be chalked up to not being used to opponents of this caliber. The US is a good and improving team and will someday be a world-class team. The number of chances we had spoke much for that, but its execution that needs to be improved upon when playing against a team like Brazil. The USMNT is showing some real promise no matter what anyone says.
As a US supporter, I am very encouraged by this loss. Yes, the scoreline says 4-1, but it doesn't represent the positive momentum the team is obviously gaining. We look brighter on the attack and are beginning to establish solidity in our midfield. Overall, this sort of loss is what playing a friendly is all about; it just wasn't our day.
America has some of the best athletes in the world. If more emphasis was put on soccer during the teenage years when kids are starting to play more competitive sports, America could become a world power in soccer.
Brazil hasn't lacked a good goalkeeper for a while now, so I'm not sure how careful you have followed the Brazilian national team. Taffarel, Marcos, Dida, Julio Cesar were all very capable goalkeepers.
@neuerfarfan I am glad that a fan from Germany feels the same way as I do! The USMNT, even though they played at home, didn't compete well enough against a rebuilding football dynasty that is the Brazillian national team.
Brazils keeper and the crossbar, players of the match right there. Without that deadly duo this game could have ended in a tie or in US's favor. US had so many great chances and was playing fantasticly in the 2nd half(other than there 2 allowed goals). Brasil...well its brasil and they played like brasil. But watch yourselves...next we'll be the ones celebrating, Go USA!
What an unlucky night. (1) Rafael, on the night of his first Brazillian National Team cap, played out of his mind. Those reflex saves were spectacular, paralleling those of any high caliber keeper. (2) The U.S. had several shots bounce off the post. (3) The U.S. had some tough breaks, giving up a questionable handball penalty for Neymar, a goal off of a corner kick, and what might have been a missed offside call resulting in a Pato goal.
we played a good game. i really like the new style of passing the ball faster and with more percise style. we just have to work on that defense and we could be set.
Don't hear to peoples who underestimate the us team. This team is doin well and has a lot of potential to make a progress and to compete with the best teams out there..still take time..but u can see the progress that they've made..look at japan..back than..who would expect japan could be a strong football nation someday..and now..asian cup winner 2 times in a row..world cup.they're getting beter and better everytime..andthere are more and more japanese player playing in top european clubs...
I'm a Mexican fan, but i like to keep tabs on the other nations we will be playing for the WCQ games. I think the US just had bad luck here. I remember not that long ago Mexico played brazil in Mexico and we lost at the last minute 3-2. Our team was a bit more focus than the US tonight but there is a saying around the world and in every language when facing brazil "brazil is brazil". They'll pull out something of magic from no where. Come on US! every rival needs his rival to be at its best.
Well, you win some and you lose some. The US showed some good ability to get forward in the secand half and play (at least for some periods) toe-to-toe with Brazil. I'm actually kinda fine with this loss because it gave us a chance to see what we could do against a team like Brazil and it helped highlight things we need to work on. Again, this is what a friendly is designed to do, and our team is still growing so we're going to be able to improve.
your right about the coaching. i think people dont realize this was not the brazil senior team. this was the under 23 squad that is preparing for the olympics. thats why major players like dani alves are not there. they are allowed 3 players over 23 hulk, marcelo and thiago silva. even though it was the young team i expected nothing less a brazil junior team is still world class.
Not surprisingly, the two starting center backs in this game are no longer seen as regulars to pencil in. The club has come a long way in 1 year. Now, it's Matt Besler and Omar Gonzales/Clarence Goodson/Geoff Cameron/ a few other names.
Man, our coaches are in the hot seat even if they win playing bad, like Menezes was before Denmark and US (after these 2 games, things are getting better for him). Brazilians are accostumed to be the best ever, winning giving a show, winning with joga bonito. We absolutely hate playing bad, I would even say we prefer lose 1-0 playing with joga bonito than win 10-0 playing bad. A confirmation of this is the Brazilian NT from 1982. They didn't won nothing, but that team is a legend for us.
The true score should've been 3 - 2 to Brasil, but that's what great teams do - they finish off matches even when they don't deserve to. Unlucky this time round, but honestly in the last 10 years, U.S. Men's football has come along way.
This was some of the best offense the US has played in awhile, but defensively it's hard to watch. The backdoor was constantly a threat, and they overprotected the player with the ball, leaving easy routes for guys to run in.
and for the record i do know about Uruguay history of the sport..... Im from there ... and here i am telling u that we are finally making a comeback lately..... before we were always struggling in the mid table of south america .... so there, u are now officially owned. I have to go for a drive now we can continue this later good luck son
"they gave no chance" huh are you sure we saw the same game??!!! Bradley's passing is incredly beautiful, Donovan's free kick are perfectly well played, Howard is a hell of a goalkeeper, Dempsey is strong and fast and hard to stop and the whole team plays a better soccer than a lot of European teams so give them a little credit!!!! And remember that this is Brazil we're talking about not China!!! And the US were unlucky, that sometimes happens in sport!
we'll have to see in the upcoming games if this was just a bad game for onyewu or if cameron is the better starter but these defensive lapses weren't happening in the first game.
As Brazil is host to next World Cup, Brazil doesn't need to compete and be qualified as you may know, so Brazil needs to meet strong teams, not really as a friendly match but like that one in the final of London Olympic games. I consider Mexico a very competitive and skillful national team. It's always good to have exciting matches like Brazil vs Mexico. Hope more matches of those national teams to meet and off course in this Brazil world cup final. Cheers amigo!
ah it kills me how close we came to scoring in the second half =O =/ We still woulda lost with their extra goal but still...good effort by the U.S. players :)
When something that was intentionally attempted happens.. it's not luck. It's skill. When something unintended happens.. its either lucky or unlucky depending on what it is.
Mexico is moving up in the soccer world!! There u-17 team has won the world cup twice , 6 time gold cup champs, 1 confederations title , have placed 2nd in the cola america before.. The soccer is growing.
...there probably IS a heightened sense of play when it's a big match, but as a former athlete, I would like to say something to that: A top athlete is someone that always strives to win, always wants to play, whether it's in the backyard or in the world cup. Those who do not have that heart and internal drive do not make it beyond middle school. If there is a pro that doesn't "give it his best" on the pitch because it's a friendly, will find 10 others behind him, waiting/wanting to play
Fast forward 3 years 2012-2015
USA 1-4 Brazil
That's what I was thinking :D
That's what I was thinking :D
i love this sport, best sport ever
We made an awful game against brazil but respect to Brazil
I mean the score looks bad but we made some pretty good chances
Brazil is Brazil Gringos
I appreciate so much the matches between USA and Brazil... and the same for "Mexico and USA"... both are great moments...! God bless you guys...!
brazil is not mexico gringo. conmebol is not the weak concacaf .
This is the same Brazil team that Mexico U-23 beat in the Olympics
Howard’s reactions every time he gets scored on are hilarious
yeah
Que buena Brasil, saludos de Mexico! :D
I am Brazilian.
But the U.S. team is very good.
Bradley, Dempsey, Donovan and Tim Howard are excellent players.
Bradley made a great game.
Nice match up here, nice to see all the fans at game with lots mix between Brazil and USA, Brazils goals were really nice goals, all good plays and all pretty good stars too. NIce to see. osufand didn't qualify 2018
Sorry but USA is not the king of Concacaf.
Lose gold cup and not qualify for the world cup...
That last goal was the best play I've seen in a while
Bunito né mano
Brazil - 4 goals. Onyewu - 4 assists
MVP - Onyewu
Fabian definitely should start for the U.S he has been playing very well and the best player for the U.S for this game in my opinion
This had to have been a great match! So much great action and fast pace!
4x1 today 4x1 forever
World class FOOTball players (Brazil) vs SOCCER players (US)...equal match?
Sean S. Not all sports, there’s cricket, rugby, wrestling, boxing all those sports, in which the USA is definitely not best at, you are great at American Football, but no other country plays that on a professional level.
@Sean S. Football is the number one sport in the world!
Sean S. You are never going to conquer football/soccer. Your country’s legue doesn’t even have relegation.
@Andres yes they do lmao, the teams relegate by percentage and they go down to USL Championship
Braziiiiillll 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Just saw highlights from another two matches between this teams again complete domination from Brasil
I was at this game with my Dad! Amazing atmosphere!
Howard has to be top 5 in the world for GK!
dont know about that, but he is endeed a really good gk
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA nigga please!
***** FUCK NO NOT CASSILLAS
you better believe it, Howard is among the top Goalkeepers in the World...hands down! 16 saves in one match, ok
Yea when he flopped like a fish infront of geovani Dos santos in mexico vs us gold cup final. After mexico recovered fast from a 0-2 us lead.
Mad props to Rafael Cabral, looks like a huge prospect for Brazil...
Weird that I saw a video of herc Gomez saying this was his most memorable game and then this pops up in my recommendations 🧐
Literally the same thing happened
Vai se fude traduzi isso atoa
the second half KILLED ME. i was at the game right behind the goal the US was trying to score in and it was sooo frustrating to see so many close chances! but well played US and Brazil!

Its amazing how every cross by Donovan creates a chance...just his teammates cant finish
Pato's positioning was invincible ..excellent.
Dempsey is the greatest American player i've seen. He has great vision of game, great passing, nice dribbling and scoring skills. Jese Rizo No, i don't. It's sad because i've heard he was a great player.
I was there when I was almost 3
The USMNT was ball watching almost the entire match; it is not a surprise then that they got outplayed! ;(
As usual
They missed a lot of players but the squad they used was still pretty good. Their goal keeper played well and maybe after Cesar retires he'll get more action.

I respect Brazil for soccer, it's just not MNT's thing. Although i play soccer.
Fuck u
Me?
+Avery Sneed you mean football?
Supun Perera Ah yes, football. I am American though, Fellow...? German?
Beautifully said.
brazil the best soccer team ever :-)
7-1
@@dondanyi Do you have 5 world championships?
im glad youre speaking for the whole nation
Holden is one of our best creative mids. Insert him into the 3 man midfield and we have a fantastic lineup.

***** I do think that he has a point, although I think after I watched the game it was more of a 3-2 win for Brazil
***** I do not think that the us is anywhere close to pathetic, definately a genuine team

4-1 again hahahahaha

beautiful us goal.
enjoy this match a lot, us had too many changes but no luck.

Guardiola is currently not coaching any team. Vicente Del Bosque is the coach of Spain and has been since 2008. If that's what you were wondering?
Brazils keeper and the crossbar, players of the match right there. Without that deadly duo this game could have ended in a tie or in US's favor. Tim Howard is one of the best keeper of all time very underrated and underappreciated by the US fans shame on all of you
y se hizo la batucada!
Finally Brazil found a good goal keeper. Rafael has made a great debut. Usa is progressing alot. It could of been a higher number on their goal side.
More national teams should post highlights of their countries football on youtube.
They had a rough game but the stars on the team are still in their prime, so I think qualifying for the 2014 World Cup will not be a problem. Go USA!
I was at this game
Well, you win some and you lose some. The US showed some good ability to get forward in the secand half and play (at least for some periods) toe-to-toe with Brazil. I'm actually kinda fine with this loss because it gave us a chance to see what we could do against a team like Brazil and it helped highlight things we need to work on. Again, this is what a friendly is designed to do, and our team is still growing so we're going to be able to improve.
America is really great at sports that America plays. Like baseball, the other football, and basketball.
Exactly, don't let the score fool you, it was Brazil-u23 team.
It's justba friendly, but I hope the US can keep up the momentum they have shown recently.
That wasn't Julio Cesar, but Rafael Cabral if you are referring to Brazil's goalkeeper.
brazil futebol never dye!!!!
talented player indeed
The U.S. is going to go so far in next year's world cup #believe
your right about the coaching. i think people dont realize this was not the brazil senior team. this was the under 23 squad that is preparing for the olympics. thats why major players like dani alves are not there. they are allowed 3 players over 23 hulk, marcelo and thiago silva. even though it was the young team i expected nothing less a brazil junior team is still world class.
very entertaining game.
My first soccer game.. I was here front row mid field vip tickets (full bar)
Very cool
Not surprisingly, the two starting center backs in this game are no longer seen as regulars to pencil in. The club has come a long way in 1 year. Now, it's Matt Besler and Omar Gonzales/Clarence Goodson/Geoff Cameron/ a few other names.
If that Brazilian roster beat them 4-1 can you imagine what they would do to them with the roster they have now it would be rape
Brazil's lucky they have Julio Cesar. Those shots were right on target.
I'm glad Oneywu is no longer in the starting line-up. He cost us so many goals on fundamental mistakes.
Man, our coaches are in the hot seat even if they win playing bad, like Menezes was before Denmark and US (after these 2 games, things are getting better for him). lol are u really comparing full power Brazil vs full power US? .... let me laugh a little bit more
they're trying to be as prepared as possible for the olympics. They're gonna put effort into these friendlies, especially against Mexico and Argentina
This was some of the best offense the US has played in awhile, but defensively it's hard to watch. The backdoor was constantly a threat, and they overprotected the player with the ball, leaving easy routes for guys to run in.
we had some good shots in that just didn't go our way. I think it was a good effort even tho we lost. I liked what i saw
Keep your heads up, USMNT. It's hard enough to beat Brazil when the odds are in your favor. It's impossible to beat them when they are not.
and for the record i do know about Uruguay history of the sport..... Im from there ... and here i am telling u that we are finally making a comeback lately..... before we were always struggling in the mid table of south america .... so there, u are now officially owned. Marcelo and Neymar both played out of their minds in this game.
congrats on the 2-0 win against Brazil
2 Girls 1 Cup was filled in Brazil, the actors were brazillian and so was the producer. Need I say more ?
Brazil 4-1 usa
yeah baby :D

5:31 was the filthiest juke I'd ever seenat that point
Send that forward my regards about replacing our defender
we keep hearing the same for i don't know how many years now ...

His botched clearance led to Silva's goal also. So he's responsible for two goals really.

the usa is a strong team and play with alot of spirit.they will be force one day to be reckoned with.
