    I bought one and do the same work in less than half the time. Love it. I can even use my left hand. One handed by myself. Force multiplier

    I agree with cap nailing or stapling. I have them stand up to 80mph winds and no tears. Just staples have failed at 30. I use the bostich cap staplers cause the bostich products are available at all the lumber yards i deal with.

      roofing staples will fail most of the time and will always lose to cap nails head to head performance

    I second this. The only additional measure we take is taping up the seams.

      taping the seams sounds like good idea but not required by anyone, what are you taping it with?

      Roofing Insights I think it’s impossible to beat zip sheeting tape. It’s expensive though. I’ve also had good luck with Gorilla tape. In any case we only use this measure when we know the new roof won’t be installed right away.

    Yes sir synthetic and stinger cap nailer is the best and faster way to do it

    I'm in miami. I prefer 30felt. The roofs here are mostly 3/12 and synthetics dont tend to have memory and have failed on me countless times. For the winter it's great but rainy season forget it. I will not trust a TG roof with a synthetic felt on and waiting a week for the rain to stop to install shingles. My 2 cents.

      Florida is different beast in roofing world!!! I agree with you, everything performs differently under the major heat

      "Most" Synthetic felts are not waterproof, merely water resistant. Cap nails or not.
      I've been caught in that trap once. And that's too many times if you're counting on
      your Liability Insurance to cover your mistake.............lol
      30# felt for the save. But the wrinkles?...............OY!!!

    I would also agree with this

    I've been Roofing all my Life. I do not like Synethic felt. If you install the shingles right on the nail line that's all you need.
    Imagine Putting yourself in the middle of the desert, would you dehydrate faster with a plastic hat or a paper hat? Plastic, Right? Same concept when it comes to Synethic felt, it's hotter a lot hotter it locks in heat/moisture/condensation which leads to mold and eventually algae. Synethic hasn't been around for a long time to know its aftermath, shingles are more than likely to become more brittle and sun blister a lot faster.
    Overall I think Roofers such as all the many that are using Synethic are only using it because it makes them look like they are using new innovation materials when in fact they are not educated enough on the product. Roofing is very simple...were not flying to the moon. You where right it hasn't changed much in the past 100 years for a reason. If you and all the other roofers cared so much about Customers and Quality, Roofers should of never invented the coil Gun. Roofing by Hand that is the only and Best Way. But that's another subject for another Day.
    Thank you for your videos and all you guys are doing.
    Love from Texas.

    I've asked this question before but it has yet to be answered. Isn't a pneumatic cap stapler just as good as a cap nailer, Stinger makes both?

    • @RoofingInsights3.0
      @RoofingInsights3.0  5 лет назад

      +Jason Bronson we used both. Pneumatic is 2x better!!!

    • @jasonbronson672
      @jasonbronson672 5 лет назад

      Roofing Insights I’m referring to the pneumatic cap stapler vs the pneumatic cap nailer, there both pneumatic, so is there an advantage of one over the other. The one advantage to the stapler that I can see is that you can get it in staple lengths of 5/8” - 1 1/2” where as the nailer only comes in 1”. The stapler can also be used on foam board and it’s cheaper. I’m leaning towards getting the pneumatic cap stapler over the nailer because it seems to have more all around use but value your opinion.

    Curious how flat the cap nails lay.. will they create a hump under the shingle ?

    • @deadlymig123
      @deadlymig123 5 лет назад +3

      Ed Westervelt nope, they’re not noticeable at all

    My sub just said cap nails and staples leave bumps in the shingles

      Is the first statement true ?

    • @chipmanger8098
      @chipmanger8098 4 года назад

      Not true. Stinger is designed for very low profile. Some other brands have thick edges that can cause this effect

    • @countrymouser1962
      @countrymouser1962 2 года назад +1

      Your sub obviously is still stuck in the past, using 3-Tab shingles..............lol
      Cap Nails ABSOLUTELY will not show through the Dimensional Shingles.

    Underlayment is a vapor barrier between shingles and decking, that's it. Your suggestion that a house hit by hurricane will remain water tight with synthetic is laughable.... Nails used to apply shingles penetrate both underlayments and neither one is considered "temporary roof" by any insurance company or roofing trade governing body. Just another sell out peddling BS for a buck
