A lot of instructors teach country swing as SQQ. You do QQS. The timing is the same but the dance is going to work differently because of what happens on the downbeat. Not sure which version we should learn.
I noticed you changed your footwork and timing from your previous videos. Instead of rock step walk walk where leads rock step only on the left foot you are doing QQS where you alternate the rock step L and R feet. Is this an evolution of the dance or better alignment with other instructors? Is the other method still valid? The reason I'm asking this is I am teaching my friends Country Swing right now. Thank you.
That is a GREAT question Neil. We did our original country swing videos back in 2020 on out other channel. We were doing videos to keep people entertained during lockdown and didn't have much time to research country swing. The videos online at the time were not very good. So we did a 'single time swing' version. After more research and training, the style on this video is more in line with what the "country swing" folks are doing across the country. Like with any dance there will be regional differences and to some extent all styles will work in certain circumstances but this video is more in line with what you'll see with folks who dance a lot of country swing. @@SocialDanceOnline I agree with you on all those points thanks. Well for now I'm going to keep dancing single time swing because it works well for me, the music and all the moves I do. That might change in the future as I watch it evolve. Yes, it is challenging to find a quality video of people actually stepping to the beat of the music. Most people just ignore the music and rarely even move their feet and tutorials don't even mention what to do with your feet. Since I enjoy dancing to music I have carefully chosen dance moves that can be stepped to with the music and that's what I am currently teaching my friends.
You're 200% right @@neilsdancelab228 ! We've struggled finding people that are on time as well. There ARE some great dancers out there using this timing and looking great. Either way country swing is growing and I can't wait to see it take off even more! -B
