This is why working for a company Riot is an ultimate goal post for me as a graphic art student. It would show that the artist had reached a point where they had become among the best in the field and can keep up with modern art standards.
I hope you get to be a better artist, being in Riot or wherever! And I totally agree with you. There is one comment here saying that the new art of Riot is worse, but is definitely not true, it has more life and prettiness than before. There has been really an evolution on 10 years.
@@Gamorou It's common to see that in video game industry but you can't deny that getting hired as an artist for Riot is a huge career boost. When there are artists like Zoe Crowns didn't manage to get hired after an internship, you know there a lot of artist wanting to work there and get experience.
이렇게 보니까 라이엇이 어떤 의도로 새 일러스트를 그리는지 알겠음. 구 일러스트는 챔피언을 표현하는 데 집중한 반면 신 일러스트는 챔피언 뿐만 아니라 배경 상황까지 설정해서 그 챔피언의 특징과 능력을 묘사하는 쪽으로 그려짐. 그래서 일부 챔피언들은 새 일러스트가 그려지지 않아도 괜찮다고 판단해서 미뤄지는 듯
Same here, it might be a personal bias since I started playing the game during that time. The artwork these days is much better but I really liked the artstyle and colouring of those "middle" versions. It reminds me of when League was more cartoony, instead of anime.
Original rengar and fiora are millions of times better than the new ones. Same for middle tristana. But hey, what do you expect form the "only one way of drawing characters" riot company?
You can do that yourself, you can find the draft pick music in the game files, just switch it out for anything you like! You can look up RUclips tutorials on how to do that

Renekton's second splash art is literally perfect. I can see the anger in his eyes and the brutality of blood on his blade. The newest one doesn't show his anger or fierceness like the second did.
Idk man since the 2012 lore reboot the edgy and cartoony stuff got mostly sidelined to skins, the "badass" red eye effect sorta just feels like when an artist doesn't know how to draw emotions in the eyes like how the eyelids move, which makes sense here cus it aint human
Cool video and all but man the music brings back to the early days of playing rank league for the first time. joining a lobby and having everyone scream out their roles and begging the host which champs to ban, all in all while this music played in the background. it brought so much chills to me i still remember getting. the music really set the tone that shiieeeet was about to get real in a few seconds. the old splash art really brought some great nostalgia indeed. Anivia, ill never forget the first champ i bought from shop and grinded for.
Watching this just shows you how much the game has progressed in years with splash arts. It's just wow how back then what champs looked like and the time back then when i played.
Honestly, their old 2D art form isn't so bad, it gives more reason that League of Legends is an anime XD I'm honestly impressed the splash arts all started from 2D art form.
I did not know the game used to look *this* bad. We've gone from characters just simply standing there, posing for the camera to more dynamic and energetic artwork that depicts who these characters are and what they do. Really appreciate how long we came in the artistic direction of champion design and splash art... Ya know, before the game started pandering to a Chinese market.

The old splash arts made me feel like an old man. I remember the time where I introduced my brother to league (he was a dota player) and started playing against him where its his time and my account was just a week old. He used Garen and I used Master Yi. I still do not know how to pick the proper items so I just read the items and pick health items such as warmogs. It was funny when I let him hit me and he deals less damage. I stopped playing League for a long time like 2-3 years ago but I still watch League players like Yamikaze or TC Zerath.

Some of the original splashes are things I see in my nightmares...especially Soraka's, but I really loved Evelyn's middle splash, the one just before her rework that we have now.
Where did you find the source files for the 2d splash icons? I believe those were from the first client (before public release) and I've been trying to find more info on it for a while so I could show it to newer players.
리메이크 전후 일러스트를 찬찬히 비교해보면 캐릭터 외모뿐 아니라 색감이라던지, 전반적인 구도, 동세나 강조하고 싶은 주제가 더 명확히 드러나는 것 같아요 카시오페아를 예로 들면, 구2는 그저 앉은 상태로 손을 뻗은 게 전부지만 현재 스킨에서는 뱀 꼬리를 앞 부분에 배치해서 컨셉과 함께 빠른 기동성을 보여주고, 손에 독기가 나오는 것과 주위 병사가 돌로 변한 것으로 대략적인 스킬까지 알 수 있어요
Alot of comments calling the old art bad. I would call it bad it's just a different style than the modern splash arts and obviously back then standards were much lower and league was no where near as big. Personally I find it kind of refreshing looking at some of the old ones they are just so nostalgic with that early 2000 wow vibes

I did not know the game used to look *this* bad. We've gone from characters just simply standing there, posing for the camera to more dynamic and energetic artwork that depicts who these characters are and what they do. Really appreciate how long we came in the artistic direction of champion design and splash art... Ya know, before the game started pandering to a Chinese market.
Funny because way back in the day people were BEGGING Riot to replace a lot of the global splashes with the Chinese-exclusive ones

The old splash arts made me feel like an old man. I remember the time where I introduced my brother to league (he was a dota player) and started playing against him where its his time and my account was just a week old.
He used Garen and I used Master Yi. I still do not know how to pick the proper items so I just read the items and pick health items such as warmogs. It was funny when I let him hit me and he deals less damage.
I stopped playing League for a long time like 2-3 years ago but I still watch League players like Yamikaze or TC Zerath.
Makes me realize how much Jax, TF and especially Hecarim need a new splash art

카시오페아를 예로 들면, 구2는 그저 앉은 상태로 손을 뻗은 게 전부지만
현재 스킨에서는 뱀 꼬리를 앞 부분에 배치해서 컨셉과 함께 빠른 기동성을 보여주고, 손에 독기가 나오는 것과 주위 병사가 돌로 변한 것으로 대략적인 스킬까지 알 수 있어요

Alot of comments calling the old art bad. I would call it bad it's just a different style than the modern splash arts and obviously back then standards were much lower and league was no where near as big. Personally I find it kind of refreshing looking at some of the old ones they are just so nostalgic with that early 2000 wow vibes
