@@AlexElliottGolf Oh man, it was beautiful. I've been golfing for about 5-6 months now. And I feel like I've progressed in every aspect except driver. I took this to the range the other day, and after a couple hits with this tip, I started actually drawing the ball. Which is crazy for me. I usually have to aim to the left to slice right and hopefully make fairway. I was so shook I had to play a round. I don't think I sliced one ball all day during my round. I actually had times where I aimed further right in case I drew it slightly. Now I told buddy about it, and he was immediately negative and said it isn't me bowing my wrist but my body. Which, idk. I've never been one to draw the ball before so. lol Either way, I was thrilled dude. I feel like I need to do some tweaking to see a good sweet spot to hit it straight. But man, I'm so thrilled right now. I shot the lowest I'd ever shot so far, a 97. Which is great for me!
The wrist position has been a game changer for me. I’ve not played for 10 years but always had a weak cupped wrist with an over swing producing weak shots with no power. I started playing again literally on the 4th April with a golf lesson to reinforce what I’ve been working on over the lockdown months which was just on my wrist position. I’m now hitting the ball much better than I ever did; with confidence and more power 🙂
Beautiful.. bowing is hard! Tried it today and got some really nice compression. One 4iron from around 190m driven right side of the green across the southerly and pitched in line up the back.. very satisfying.
I added a bowed wrist and it's literally corrected swing over night. I was blocking and slicing driver and irons less extent but still there and losing power,, tried grip changes to correct, rolling forearms, all sorts of crazy stuff etc stumbled across this video, tried tee in back of glove drill to feel cup and move to bow, it transformed from slicing to occasionally pulling left....gamechanger and I thought it was so many other things...
Hello Alex and everyone. I'm a single handicapper trying to become a scratch player. This video is the exact movement I have been working on for the past year. At first, it will seem like you pull hook it, but that's because your club feels like it's closed from the start. But keep practicing that, it will pay off. It will also help keep the ball flight lower. For every shot, my pre-swing routine, I'll take the club back on a 1/4 swing (2 times) with my golf glove logo pointing to the ground. That will help in Alex's point of keeping the logo pointing to the sky at the top of the swing. Go try it. #TJyourSprinkerGuy.
It’s funny you say that. I played a round the other day and I was trying to work on this specifically. My first drives were all pulls. And then by about hole 5, I started hitting it straight
I discovered this by accident during my round today. My feel was to gently bow my left wrist during the back swing so that it was in position somewhere near my right ear, maintain that relationship between both my hands and simply rotate my lead hip. Let the club drop into the slot naturally and come through the ball. The whip effect at impact was incredible. And since I have been grinding on your various “stay in posture drills” all Winter, my ball compression was the best it has been in years. Those two fundamentals have made my swing more simple and more powerful. Thank you!
I was messing around trying this on the lawn with wedges, didn't have much trouble with them but as I got into the longer irons I was struggling to make Contact, logo to the sky helped alot lol
Alex I’ve taken your bowed wrist on board and taken it to the course it’s early days but my last tee shot was 260 straight uphill I’m a 24 hcp can you clear up weather I’m taking my new bowed wrist to all my clubs? Including hybrids and wedges? Keep the videos coming your really helping
thank you so much for the game changing tip ! I have started golf this year, I quickly developed a huge slice with the driver and the hours of youtube tricks didn't help at all. You fixed my swing in a 10mn30. Thank you, I have subscribed ! ;)
Great tip that works. I concentrate on my take away and getting a flat wrist at the top which works. No slices yesterday but missed 80% of the fairways left with one huge duck hook😳
Thanks your videos are very detailed. I feel like some leave things out on purpose. So, after incorporating this at the top of the swing; I imagine there is no need to close the club face on the way down as other you tube instructors teach. Is that correct?
I had a big problem with being too steep at the top .Not good This simple drill feels strange but im keeping with it as my scores keep coming down on the course . Cant thank you enough for this super easy drill.
Wild. Started doing this today...gets me right into Hogan impact. Driving on a scale of 1 to 10? I'm a 10 when I put an 85% seing on it. 8 or 9 going after it. That's in one day of doing this.
I've been doing this since practicing it all winter indoors and it's working beautifully. Now I feel like I can drop the club inside and attack without fading.
Hi Alex. This is very good drill or technique cos i have been working on the range and i really felt solid contact with my driver but still trying to get my iron to feel similar. The hardest part for me is i am still not able to do it when i am actually playing on the course. Since seeing your clip today, i will definitely do this from now on. Thanks so much for sharing this great drill!👌👍👍👏👏👏
The real issue is how to KEEP it flat at impact by not allowing the right hand to take over. I've worked so hard at keeping the right hand passive so that it doesn't cause the left wrist to cup at impact - but it has a mind of its own!
I flatten my wrist at the top of the backswing as I find my wrist feels a bit "clicky" on the way down if I bow it too excessively like DJ but I agree it's probably one of the most important aspects of a golf swing the wrist position.
I’ve just started having lessons and the pro told me this is a big thing I need to do but since I have I have been having pain in the left wrist. Is that something that is likely to be down to just not being use to this movement or maybe I’m extending too much? Thanks for the video
I have success doing bow on longer clubs driver, wood on tee. Thank you. How about long and short irons. Im worried about impact on ground. Any advise?
I like my grip to be more neutral so first move down in my mind I close the face with my hands. I know it doesn’t happen but it seems to make my arms take off my chest then I can turn as hard as I want
I have tried this technique because I was told by an instructor I have a cupping issue. However, it feels a bit painful to me since I don’t have DJ or Rahm strength in my wrists or forearms.
I found this technique on another channel, because I was always coming down with open face and hitting to the right. It was like an epiphany for me seriously, when I cupped my wrist like he shows, my shots were straight as an arrow. I wanted to tell everyone,
If I exaggerate the left wrist bow, I really have to engage my body turn to do the work. This means I am losing swing speed, although my compression is generally better now I think that does make up for some of the lost speed. No idea how DJ can generate so much speed from a body driven swing. Is something I should expect, lower swing speed?
I think the position of the left wrist at the top of the backswing is subjective To bow the wrist encourages rotating the arms and one loses the idea of swinging the club and promotes a hit
Do you know how many Novice, Intermediate golfers you F-up with trying to do a bowed wrist, Strong Grip, Weak Grip, Neutral Grip, everyone does Not get into a Bowed position, most all are driven into the ground 12 inches in front of the ground with a driver? Now, most are thinking move your wrist...
Unfortunately, I think hitting a ball of a fairway is always going to be unique as opposed to hitting it of a tee. What I mean by this is that no two lies are the same on a fairway.
Alex, if you're asking Players to Feel a Bowed Wrist at the Top, it's not happening and too much thinking rather than hitting the golf ball, it's the Grip that gets you into position NOT a Feeling, feeling changes just like your Girlfriend or Wife Pisses you off, so how to get Bowed WITHOUT a Feeling but left-hand position and takeaway...
I think if a professional throws a club or smashes it into the ground following a bad shot they should get a penalty stroke. Tiger would slam his club and to ME, I don't care who YOU are its bad form and professionals are supposed to be setting an example. Some are just prema Donnas..
I thought Tyrrell restrained himself quite well lol. I've seen a lot worse. I was half expecting him to give a thumbs up after he threw the club. (If ya don't know what I'm talkin about watch this ruclips.net/video/ksDrIsiqZaA/видео.html . It's a good laugh and me and mates best joke when the angry golfer comes out a bit now. We just give each other a thumbs up lmao) But instead of a thumbs up he gave himself a golf clap which was almost as funny. Tyrrell's a bloody legend, but yeah, at 43 I'm still a young and impressionable golfer and found myself throwin the club like I was disgusted with it after I saw him do it the other day. My mate just gave me a thumbs up lmfao
Its a feeling i try and bow my wrist as much as possible but when i look back on the video my wrist isnt even bowed at all but i feel like it is bowed if you know what i mean and it does help alot
Hello everyone! HAPPY EASTER 🐣 I want you to rate your driving out of 10 right now! Get in those comments 🙌🏼

One of the most enlightening videos out there. Thanks Alex.
Taking this to the course/range in the coming days! Hoping to finally fix the slice! 🙏
Let me know how you get on!

@@AlexElliottGolf Usually 😢
@@AlexElliottGolf Need to be more confident and aim down right of centre and trust the swing rather than bottle it and aim left for the slice/fade
