The presentations begin with Kayleigh Evans and Vanessa Sibanda discussing their developing relationship and practice experiences, Diana Katoto takes the student spotlight and asks participants about their learning experiences, Dr Prospera Tedam introduces the MANDELA model and Wayne Reid discusses recent actions taken by BASW and looks to the future.

It is such a good model.
I wonder what the results about African students performing poorly on placement would be like had the research included studies of social work placements in African universities and between countries in Africa itself. From my understanding the western studies appear to place blame for structural issues on students of African origin . I feel the historical perception of Africans as “backward and primitive “,may be the main influence on how non African practice educators and services users engage with African students on placement. It is this disconnect that probably leads to a high failure rate on placement by this particular ethnic group.
I agree it is about pathologizing in European systems and structures.
